    DISCLAIMER! Hi guys, as I said in the video - I'm not a professional surf/skate instructor. I'm someone who's learning, and this is my process. All of the tips I talk about in the video are accurate and I stand behind them. The action foorage is my attempt in applying them as an intermediate surfer. As I progress I will post the improvement, and am happy to showcase all my mistake :)

      @@ALLaBOARDvideos I practiced a lot these weeks. My movements improved. Now I'm compressing and extending frontside, backside. I'm filming my progress too. But my "arm movements" aren't good yet. I see in my videos that's or too loose or too rigid. A friend told me about the "arms ninja position". The arm movements needs to lead all the movement or simply it's a accessory for the balance of the movement? I want to understand the basic movement as a hole. Are you thinking of making a video about it?

    • @ALLaBOARDvideos
      @ALLaBOARDvideos  3 роки тому +1

      @@LucasPinheiroV8 awesome for practicing and improving. Think of the arms being generally forward in front of the body when you’re generating speed. When you turn, depending on the side the arms will lead the movement. So in backside, let your leading arm point the way in the bottom turn and then it has a strong pull back to the front for the top turn. In front side, the back arm (so the right arm if you’re regular) will move down towards the floor to help you lean on the toes but then the leading arm will pull the movement up the wave and then lead the turn at the top of the wave.
      In any case remember that always look where you want to go this will also guide your leading arm the right direction.
      Yes- I will do another video soon- I’ll show all my mistakes :) and how to improve it. Primarily with the arms

    • @ALLaBOARDvideos
      @ALLaBOARDvideos  3 роки тому +1

      One last thing, remember that your body moves as one unit in an organic way. So you don’t want your hands just moving around with no purpose. Let it be part of the movement whether it’s initiating it or following it. It’s not easy in the beginning and there are few spots in the video that I would definitely correct myself. But once you get it it’ll just be the way you move on the board. Feel free to email me your video if you want me to take a look

    Very good tutorial video, thank you. When you are backside, is your weight more on front foot or back foot (or both) and are you pushing on your heels where your toes are literally up? I find being front side much easier for some reason but when I decompress I never really go backside properly, just more of a slight tilt backside..

    • @ALLaBOARDvideos
      @ALLaBOARDvideos  3 роки тому

      Well, that's a good question- first I think backside is often somewhat harder. It makes sense that we'll feel more comfortable leaning forward (where we can see if we fall) rather than backwards... it's mostly mental. When leaning back don't think about lifting the toes. It might still happen, but that's not what's leading the movement, but mostly the idea of moving the body off-center i.e. having the hips and shoulders in diagonal line from your feet. it's a position that you might fall when standing, but the momentum you have on the board will keep you from falling, so I'll admit it's harder to practice if you're going too slow. As for shifting the weight, think about your front foot as the accelerator and the back as the breaks. So very generally when you get into a maneuver, like a bottom turn, your weight will shift a bit to the front-foot because you want to maintain/increase your speed. Hope that helps!
      more detailed series coming up in the next couple weeks- stay tuned!
