    Yes, Model3 pack is a format change and pack redesign. However, the 100 pack is not quite 2012 tech. After adding some stuff to the 85 pack to turn it into a 90...the did do a redesign for the 100 pack. They called it 'version 3 pack design' if I remember correctly. So it is 2015 ish tech 😉. Bjorn I think it is time to start comparing EV's charging little bit differently. Percentage doesn't mean anything and also kW of charging rate alone doesn't say much to normal people. All that matters is relation between EV's consumption and charging rate....this says how much range you get in certain amount of time.

      Do you not understand the difference between power and consumption? It is the same as if you filled the same volume of gasoline in 1 minute at a gas station in both an econobox and a V8 truck, the truck would only go half the distance the econobox could.

  • @andrezimmermann2458
    @andrezimmermann2458 4 роки тому +8

    So finally, when E-tron reaches 100% and you can go on with your travel, you have an advantage of around 22 Minutes(in that Time you can charge the Audi again in a second stop from 10-70%, which is around 200km of range) until the Model X arrives only 90% of his capacity. On the other side, if you would stop charging the Tesla, the EQC and the I-Pace at the same time as the Audi, which one would come further with his amount of energy? E-Tron will run 300 km with this amount of energy. How far wil the other ones come with their loaded 55kWh, 64 and 65 kWh + 10% of Capacity which was inside the Battery when they started to charge? From my experience I would think the Tesla would also run 300 km with a average consumption of 25 kWh/100 km. But I would think the Merc and the Jag will not run further as max. 220 - 250 km.
    So it is equal between the Audi and the Tesla.

The math is not quite right as Bjorn points out, 450km in the Raven vs. 350km in the others is a huge 28% advantage. Or take about 1 third off the Raven charging time to compare like with like? Also the e-tron when showing 100% is not really at 100% (it's about 88%) so it is a "false positive" and also needs to be considered when looking at the ipace and the Mercedes.

      @@noproblem386 Know', but if I'm charging at the v3 chargers, it only gives me 250kw for a matter of minutes, before it flattens out on about 140. It slowly falls back down to about 60-50 kw like the model x. It do make a big difference, but if the vw ID 3 charges constantly at 150-140kw, it might be able to beat it or at least finish at around the same time as the model 3. Time will tell.

      @riker158 4 роки тому +1

      The thing is, if you have seen the charging compartion Video from the Model 3 an the Etron then you might have recognized that the Etron needs less time to fully charge up, so if the ID3 have the same charging curve like the Etron or maybe even better, because it is a newer Generation on the Battery Cells, than you can charge more with every charging stop. That could result in less charging stops in total so can save time you would need to stop, plug in and start again otherwise. Then you might even not need to drive that fast like with the Model 3 so you can save energy and can get out more km from every charging stop.

    Why does people charge their cars?
    In order to get range!
    km/min is the best comparison for me, because range(km) and time (min) are the units which are of interest in daily use.
    A comparison would be a heater in your house. If you have a heater which uses 100kw (theoretically) and your house 🏡 needs 1h to have ambient temperature or you have a heater which uses 50kw and your house is at ambient temperature in 50min. Important is when your house is warm and not how much power the heater has 😅

    The thing is ... at 88%, the eTron output is 354Km/h (84KW/h), while Tesla is 357Km/h with much slower input (66KW)... so I don't really think that a face-to-face comparison can be done ...
    I think the best is, at a given time (maybe 30min?) how many km can we drive for each battery and not focus that much on the input current that each battery can hold...
    no?

    What ‘d find interesting to find out, on a long journey, you could make a lot of time by charming 20-30 minutes and to to next stations, keep doing same charge before it tapers. What would be interesting is that according to these numbers, Enron would be able to get there faster? Would be an interesting test to so something like see. Which car gets from A to B in a longish range situation (1000km?) By charging 25 mins. Again, according to these numbers Enron would do it, but I’d have some range anxiety with Enron in longer rangers (I.e., if I were to travel from where I live in Salt Lake CIty to Florida, one of the segments includes a trip of around 205 or so miles in pretty mountainous terrain. Would the Enron make it? Not likely. SO it be nice in that case to have a Tesla or EQC (or even I-pace?) that you could say, Okay, I’ll stay 1 hour at this station, top it off to lets say 90%, and the keep going to next point. Just a thought. (BTW, the 205 Is Miles no Km, though I used Km earlier, and the 204 is the EPA rating for Enron... in miles)

    Hi, to me the conclusion is missing. Interesting is finally: how many kms of range (motorway speed, 130ish) does each of these cars regain per 1/2h of charging (optimal) of per hour (maximal)? Cos' one doesn't fast charge and count to the minute for their daily charging, but it turns really more important for long trips, then probably on the motorway. Also then, you would try and optimize, hence stop around ... 70, 80%, depending on the car....
    Could you please do the calc with your consumption measurements and repost the video?
    Thanks and greetings from South of France

      The 1000 km challenge might be more informative, because that shows the total time to actually cover a distance, including charging time. So it takes into account the charge rate, driving efficiency, battery size, all of it -- See Bjorn's other videos on this topic.

    If I understand what you told, and if you're right (yes, a lot of "if"), the Model X only need to charge to 75% to have the same range than the E-tron, at 100% right ? Well, in this case, thy're pretty close, but the E-tron still wins. Just a minute ahead, yes, but still !
