It doesn’t matter he should have been mentioned because now it will be weird no matter how they introduces him. If they had mentioned him and the show didn’t get renewed then it wouldn’t have mattered anyway cause the show would be cancelled. Instead they said nah we aren’t gonna mention him and then they got renewed now it’s weird to introduce him. “Hey btw alicent has a third son we didn't tell you all about”. It arguably would have been better to give his storyline to another character. It was a really bad call.
They are clearly playing around and joking around trying to be vague about daeron cause they can’t give away flat out spoilers. I think people are reading way too much into this commentary and being overly serious about it. It’s meant to be fun and somewhat informative. They don’t write the show.
Ppl who haven’t read the books are gonna be utterly confused at the mention of another brother 😂😂😂 atleast they showed young Joffrey so ppl know he exists. They didn’t show or mention him at all, it’s wild lol
I know! Like when aemond goes to see his mom after the pig incident Daeron could have been in the room and either alicent or the nanny could have been playing with him and mentioned his name then someone later could have mentioned the king has three sons. Whoever made that call has to know it was a bad one after all the questions they have gotten lol
That or atleast to alicent alone before he goes delirium so it kinda also makes sense in why she would take the aegon thing as him talking about her son seriously
@@browniebear I can give them a little leeway on that because so many new things were going on in episode 6 and the average viewers were already confused with the amount of kids in the episodes
@@visupreme2757 I can understand that but I personally don't believe stories should cater to casual audiences. If they feel "left behind" then they're welcome to get invested or find something else
@@browniebear but also I think if they were given more time by hbo then they would’ve and should use it for more time on harwin strong and laena in that episode and they could’ve snuck in viserys Otto or alicent mentioning it like the og comment was saying
The original Otto-Aemond scene should not have been cut, and they missed their perfect chance during the Green Council to mirror Daemon's scene. They should have said to send word to Oldtown for Daeron and Tessarion. They may have need of him and his dragon. And Alicent could've protested about her youngest son not being their tool of war. The deluge of confused casual watchers come S3 would have been avoided.
The thing is we have Grrm, Ryan Condal, and now actors all saying "Don't worry, Daeron exists offscreen." Meanwhile none of them have given any reassurances about Nettles existing. So even though they're both not in S2, Nettles not having any mention is worrying.
Well…as the son of a major character it was a bit more of an issue that they don’t mention _their own brother_ on-screen…Nettles wouldn’t have come up in dialogue yet
lol Daeron, Im going to say it now, Daeron is probably the best of her children as he has been kept the furthest away from Alicent. He is probably the only Green I would support as he seems to be the most honourable of the Greens.
The main worry for me with holding back Daeron's introduction to lets say S3 is it does risk those casual / non-book fans not caring as much or being that invested in the character. Especially thrown into a point of the series with basically near constant action and upheaval and we know when his arc / life ends in this conflict. Seems will be a very brief run in the series , personally i would have made sure he was spoken about more last season and found a way to feature him this season. Ntm , this series will probably wrap up in 4 seasons , maybe a 5th at the absolute max , so he is not long for this series. There are of course super memorable brief character arcs but they require to be featured a fair amount and a really dynamic performance delivered. Not sure if that will be the case with Daeron. And so far i'd say HotD has struggled with certain brief arcs already - the likes of Laena or Harwin to me weren't developed or focused on enough before their deaths , even Rhaenys not sure enough focus or development with her either where again the non-book fans will feel or care about her imminent death nearly as much as the text.
It’s really not that serious. All you gotta do is have the casting on point and his introduction got to be on point also named dropping him in season three will set the seeds. It will get non-readers to understand she have a child Son
@@killjoy993 it can be done and done well but remains to be seen if it will be. HotD has struggled already with some of the briefer character arcs i mentioned. And simply introducing him / the fact she has another son not what i am concerned about. I am more concerned he will be given enough time and substance for character development before he dies , so that everyone / even the non-book fans somewhat care and invested like the textual version. Hopefully HotD do it well but we've seen with the likes of Harwin , Laena , i'd even argue Rhaenys as well ; hasn't been HotD's strong suit thus far.
He is not mentioned yet but he does exist. He is literally held back in text as well. He will be in play later in show, as in text. As in text-they are trying to keep HIM out of it all. And as in text-they will fail. One has to live for the Game to play out. The Game is to kill off an entire family line, including their bastards. The Game is to be the Last Man Standing. Allicent and Viserys created a new line with their children...and it is still also the same line. This is a tricksie magics kind of split.
What about Maelor Aegons second son? Cause without him the Blacks striking back at the Greens wouldn’t make that much sense. In the opening credits it shows that they have 3 children just like it shows Viserys and Alicent have 4 children
Thank fucking god! Lol I would have been pissed if they left out Daeron and tessarion the blue queen. Kid is a G and the only one of alicents kids that isn't all fucked up. Lol
This is not a big issue at all, they simply have to cleverly write him into the show. Casuals will get along, I was actually hoping for a big character introduction scene in Oldtown this season but we're less likely gonna get it. Still, I think people are overreacting lol This isn't as bad as completely cutting Nettles out of the show. We were supposed to be clamoring about Nettles being excluded from the show so that Condal and Hess may reconsider their decision because word on the street is they're already deep into writing season 3.
he wasn’t mentioned for a reason in season 1 I haven’t read and fire and blood in a while but im pretty sure he is in the vale when the war first start but ik fasho they will most def mention him this season cause after the blacks main characters death he will become the biggest threat to them
I personally think that deleted scene in s1 was kind of a throw away and not the best way to introduce daeron. Most regular viewers wouldn’t even remember that scene. We skipped 10 years of their lives, then another 6 years. i don’t think it’s that big of a stretch to realize in s2 there’s another son they sent off to old town that we haven’t met yet.
they didn't do much with the younger siblings on either side in season 1. Aegon III and Viserys II were seen once in episode 8 and never appeared again, not even in episode 10.
Show defenders are already working the hardest they can to excuse this shit, when will they learn. I knew Hotd was gonna be trash the moment it was announced in 2021. After all, it was made by D&Ds proteges; what did people expect really 😂.
At this point, they should give Daeron storyline to another character. Like Alicent's brother maybe? Or cousin? Or it can also be Viserys's bastard from one of the brothel workers? idk... this is gonna confused show watchers
The way they mention Daeron will need to be flawless otherwise it’s just gonna feel clumsy like the writers forgot about him. Especially to the average viewer who doesn’t know Daeron exists. I know he exists and it will still be weird to me. It would have just been simpler to take 15 seconds and mention him in season 1
I mean aside from not mentioning him obviously which I think was a mistake to establish him a little, in the book he doesn't exactly show up early as a character. With how little this season goes over in the events of the dance, it makes sense that he'd not show up now. I think people are just being a little impatient.
The fact that even Olivia seems confused highlights what a *not good* decision it was to not even mention Daeron in season 1.
They didnt think hotd was gonna get greenlit for season 2
Hotd didnt get greenlit till the first episode of season 1, they saw how succesful it was then decids to greenlit it
They could've shown him as a child in ep6 since all the kid actors got replaced anyway. Such a shame.

You can see by Emma's face that it seems like some inside joke, they both know its silly Daeron wasn't mentioned

I'm fine with it , Daeron is all we care about !
Daemon did mention that the Greens had 4 dragons, in episode 10, we know Vahgar, Sunfyre and Dreamfyre, so who's the fourth?
TESSARION omg
