Lots of money spent on electronics that will break, but still no suspension track frame. We all enjoy the ridged ride. Very limited visibility from modern cabs. Two areas that engineers need to work on.

I like the improvements, LGP, hidden masts, all good, but by the time you get into all the functions in the screen I'd have the job done just knowing the machine and it's capability and how to operate it in the conditions that exist.

Sweet dozer. What I see happening is it’s hard to bill per hour on a project when a d6 is reduced in size by the sticker on the side to a d5. This jumping around r in size thing has created an outbreak of the competitors jumping around as well. It’s too complicated. The dozer in the video does not have an equalizer bar and independent rollers frames? That sucks in the ride department... and running over a stump will spill your coffee and created a new hemmeroid. < spell error. I do applaud cat for keeping up with technology and staying ahead of the competition. It’s starting to look like Cat and Komatsu are setting the pace on machines with parts availability. I like a lot of Deere Machines but their dealer sure does suck here in the southeast. Parts suck as well. Costex is choosing to supply Cat and Komatsu for a reason?

As someone who started (back in the early 70's on a 1955 D8H with the winch operated blade and donkey engine start I would probably want to sleep with one of these new generation Cats. In fact I'd probably do serious GBH to do a shift or two in the new D11!

Great, so just like my new truck, as soon as i've almost made it, the gd traction control is going to cut the power. If they make a switch or setting to completly turn off the traction control, that would be ok.

I’m 62 and have run dozers since I was 17. Technology isn’t about to start going backwards just because some old fart operators don’t have what it takes to keep up with it. If you think you know it all you probably never were very good.

Fully agree with you about learning the feel of the machine. Not happy with short track frames on steep slope. With a top heavy machine. Land cleaning in Central Texas most trees you want to save . The cabs on these are too tall ! You wind up breaking to many limbs off and unhappy customers! Also to many expensive windows broken! Komatsu is looking alot better! I also don't like all of the computers on a dozer cleaning land too much crap going on. You are watching for limbs and for back stabbers when backing up! Trying not to punch your radiator or rip off hydraulic lines!

Idk. I’ve pushed a mother load of ts14 scrapers with a d6c, d6d, and d6h and d6r. Do you mean that the transmission torque converter heats up or is it hard on the gears? I’m very gentle on machines so maybe in a fleet mentality with any operator it’s more prone to be an issue? Of course in optimum situations you’d want a d7 or d8 for ts14 scrapers right?

The nomenclature change has been needed. I've broken to many D6K, D6N operators ego's with my 1994 D5HXL. The new D5 looks good. But needs delta track frames. There's no reason to design a flat top track frame, it just holds dirt.

funny to call it a 5, and even more so to call it an N. If they really wanted to improve the cab, a seat that rotates 45* either way would be a huge help, especially when ripping. I think someone in sales was smoking something newly legalized. Does a good operator watch all the monitors, or does he feel the machine? Seems like a lot to watch at once.

D7 dozer's in 70s & 80s were 50,000 lb not the LGP, and around 200 HP, now D6 dozer is around 50,000 to 54,000 lb and 215 Hp. The old 1970 & 1980 D5B not a LGP were 26,000 lbs and 105 HP, now a D5K LGP is 21,000 lb and 104 HP. They keep making the machines larger.
    D5K LGP 21,000 lb & 104 HP Like a old D5B
    D6K LGP 30,664 lb & 130 HP Like a old D6C or D or E
    D5 LGP 42,000 lb and 170 HP Like a old D7G 45,000 lb and 200 HP
    D6 LGP 52,000 lb and 215 HP Like a old D7G
    D7E LGP 57,400 lb and 238 HP getting close to a old D8H & K, they were 60,000 to 69,000 lb and 270 to 300 HP

Don’t kid yourself. Nobody likes the electric drive motor tractors. 1800 more pounds doesn’t give you more productivity if it’s to heavy to the work in the wet stuff and 4 more HP is a joke. The underpowered 6n needed at least 25 more HP and speaking about the cab, you can have all of the visibility you want but if didn’t give the cab more leg room it was a waist time. I’m 5’9” and feel cramped in a 6n. Man, i feel Cat is going backwards instead of going forward.
