Great info. Just upgraded an older Outback with the 180 mirage drive. I did not know I would need to cut the alignment pin. Spent a good hour feeling like I made a huge purchasing mistake. I feel better now. Thank you!
dude, you just saved me from buying an older gen 1 Revolution thinking I could just drop my new GT drive in there without modifying it, and voiding my warranty on the drive, thank you!
Glad the video helped. It's a shame that the "guides" have to be cut off to fit older drive wells. Definitely would not do if under warranty. If you can get a set off of FB Market place its a good upgrade.
I cut off the nubs, but my drive still isn’t fitting. It drops in, but the cams won’t turn. Do I just need to loosen the cams? Or is it something else?
I found that in order to get mine to drop in you have to tilt it in front first and then rock it back down towards you. It should drop into place. I remember it being tight at first, but now works like a charm. This works well on the early 2000s outbacks. I will say if you are using the late 90s Mirage Classic Hobie it will not fit easily.
Hi Victor. I cut the nub down until it was flush with the rest of the spine (Took it clean off). Has worked well. It is important to note that this mod will work with early outbacks ( 03, 04, 05...etc), but not the other Hobie mirage models (Hobie Mirage Classic). Hope this helps!
Awesome. I have a 04 outback. Looking to buy the newer drive. Cheaper than buying even a used Hobie. Would you recommend the GT drive over the V2 drive? Appreciate your help!

Good info, thanks!

If you do have cam columns that are cracked, here's how I repaired mine: ua-cam.com/video/pgzMGc3X3dQ/v-deo.html
