As a native, born and raised in Selma/Dallas County, let me get a few things straight. No one, and I mean No ONE worships light skinned black people here. I am a light skinned black person and I am treated just like everyone else. Secondly, this city cannot progress because of its leadership. The people in this city do more for it than some of the elected officials. There are some elected officials who have this city's best interest at heart, but they are often stifled at higher levels of authority by white leaders who are higher on the totem pole than them. Thirdly, and sadly, Selma, does not receive any of the funding that it needs for education, infrastructure and recreation for kids. If it does receive funding, it is quickly stolen by those corrupt elected officials and the city never sees a dime of it. So when watching this, it would seem that everything you all are saying is true. But why not ask someone who truly knows and lives this. No one hates dark skinned black people. I hear ya. To me it looks like a lot of American towns. I love how biggoted people act like these neighborhoods only exist in black or Hispanic populated areas when I see these same rundown towns throughout the whole country when I leave the city. A lot of rural towns look like that town from the Children of The Corn where everything is closed down and no one is in sight. Hell. Most of rural America from what I see are slums. My job has me travel a lot, so I see plenty cities in the US that all have the same issues; I see more shabby neighborhoods than well kept neighborhoods, unfortunately.

You know its the hood when you see a three legged dog hoppin around. You can see that a country is poor when power lines are airborne as in Somalia, Pakistan etc!
The tornado of 2023 makes most of this video part of the before and after.. Raised in Selma from 56-75 it was a cool place and time to live there. No serious crimes were being committed, everybody(kids included) worked somewhere and had a paycheck at the end of the week. We enjoyed the pool parties on the weekend at Carver YMCA on Minter Ave and basketball and baseball games outside at Payne School. Riding motorcycles through town and even outside the city limits.Lutheran Acamedy was the coolest campus as far as High Schools. Every now and then someone would drown swimming at the river or camp grist or Kennel Mills. Today the kids are killing each other because they are too stupid to relize you kill someone you will be in jail for( 95%) possibly the rest of your life...your future ends. If there no jobs in Selma catch a bus, train, plane bike, or hitchhike out west there plenty jobs...,good paying jobs. Just go online to the city of your choice and apply and get outta there!
There’s plenty of stories about rural Russians and the high death rates by murders accidents and suicides. Extreme cases of depression and metal health issues that are covered up with alcohol and petty crimes. They talk about being so poor and disconnected because of class and distance that there’s no hope to progress or ever “get out”. A lot of black communities like this one in America are very similar to that smh
I am embarrassed by the way my city looks. I grew up in one of the neighborhoods in this video and I can promise you, it did not look this way when I was younger...(Keep in mind I am only 40 now)...I am not going to place blame on any one person or group of people, but I must say the YOUTH of Selma don't have the love or passion to see their own communities flourish. We never threw our trash on the ground because we would have serious consequences. We kept our grass cut because that was our way of earning money to buy the things we wanted instead of just waiting for someone to give it to us. We cant expect anyone to come in and help us revitalize or even rebuild out own communities until we can start taking pride in our own communities FIRST.
ok wait i think in 1965 they had protests and MLK was down there in the civil rights movement? i remember this from high school, im 45 now. i hope Im right... these were the towns?

Not now u should see Selma now it's horrific looks nothinglike this anymore especially after the tornado earlier this year
Can you Do a Drive Through Union Springs Alabama,, That's my mom hometown... THANKS
BABE SO PRETTY❤💗❤💗
U should come 2 Tuscaloosa Alabama we wud love 2 have u also its been rough here back to back murders this week
I think he drives a chevy, they all have that same power steering whine.
It sounds like a older gen Chrysler Town&Country or Dodge Grand Caravan.
Left the house without leaving the house! Manners & Respect Charlie Bo
Whoa. Mighty rough. Stay safe out there, Charlie.
Looks better than a lot of cities you've been to. Thanks.
You rode by my grandparents house towards the end of the video. You actually used the neighborhood store for your thumbnail east side
Selma is haunted. The evil that took place during the civil war here never really left. I get a dark feeling everytime i drive through this city
You can literally see it I’m not even from there either
Thats just feelings doesnt mean its true i grew up in selma
@@thisthatzaza a lot of innocent blood was shed here in som despicable ways. They were forced to die here and their spirits never left
You just gotta know how to survive, an don't let the streets tear down what you building str8 up Oin like how y'all under the post an juh typin shih that y'all don't know Nan about besides the history
Some of the houses are strangely beautiful the way they are left to the elements
I Charlie I hear you got your sqeeky tires fixed and quieted, that's nice. OK back to the road. Such beautiful places to live. All the lawns mowed and edged. Beautiful. My grandparents God rest their souls, always lived where there was no sidewalk. I like it without a side walk. Peace.
U headed to minneapolis charlie?
Yo bro come through we need to know if the media lying to us or what let's GO!!!!!
if one day i travel, i would like to see a desert town in america
What type of vehicle CharlieBo drive i need one it give good mileage ?
You know its the hood when you see a three legged dog hoppin around. You can see that a country is poor when power lines are airborne as in Somalia, Pakistan etc!
You should go to the city of Stockton California and film. I have been there and its something else.Peace.
At least those people have roofs over their heads. There's millions of homeless in Merika that wished they could live in one of these homes.
I dont know how to further describe it but some places seem to hold more ghosts than others.
Betta not hear no rappers from here talkin about they gettin money 😆
Lmfaooo
🤣🤣
Shid !! They most definitely gettin it not all but most 💪🏾💪🏾 look up dte pull up with a stick or dte WAR
Lmao 😂 😭🤣
Good lord, this is so sad.
I know the residents have let it go to far. No one to blame but them.
I’ve never seen a hood like this. The layout was different.
The whole city is a hood I’m from there
@@dia2149 even the white areas?
@@billymcgill1794 lol not really
When he got to 7:15...😁 my face lit up cause I use to walk there every day and buy snacks
U gotta check out Darby borough in pa
Hey Charlie another UA-camr: Tai Bui. Is doing Vietnamese voice overs of your clips and claiming it as his own videos fyi.
One thing about the hoods in the south they are not flithy like the ones up north.
Go to Minneapolis yo!!!!
Anyone else wonder what’s up w all the comments in Russian😂
Hope you're keeping safe Charliebo313
ok wait i think in 1965 they had protests and MLK was down there in the civil rights movement? i remember this from high school, im 45 now. i hope Im right... these were the towns?
❤💗❤💗
Nice projects, they look nice and have grass.
How was that the "hood" it looked like a nice, pretty well kept older neighborhood, I would live there.
You will get killed in Selma and burned up thinking shit sweet lol
