Selma is a city in and the county seat of Dallas County, in the Black Belt region of south central Alabama. Located on the banks of the Alabama River. The city is best known for the 1960s Selma voting-rights movement and the Selma-to-Montgomery marches, beginning with "Bloody Sunday" in March 1965.

My youngest daughter and I visited Selma a week ago. We had a blessed and wonderful stay at the St James Hotel overlooking the river in view of Edmund Pettus Bridge. My come back place to eat was Hancock's Bar Be Que. They were so friendly and accommodating and the food was superb!! I didn't know about the park so Lord willing we will visit the park during our next visit, which I hope will be soon🥰 thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much for this. I would never get to visit Selma and see the city beyond the bridge for more context. This meant so much.
I visited Selma this past weekend to follow my black heritage to freedom and I could feel it as I entered the town and I could feel it as I walked the bridge, as we drove around the town it became a disgrace that the city or someone doesn’t care how the city looks, it wasn’t so pleasant to take pictures in the little park before you cross the bridge, the grass is so high, trees and debris around, so much history but give the city so much more to come and see besides a bridge, get them to stay the night or for a few days, at this rate it will only just the city that was, just because it’s down doesn’t mean you have to accept it and keep it that way 😥😥😥😥
as a Canadian, Selma should be restored, like they did with the lorraine motel in Memphis.
