We keep the law by abiding in Christ like a branch abides in the vine (John 15), and we allow God's grace to change or reorient our lives around Jesus Christ's righteousness, life, and salvation so that we may become more like Him. We allow the righteousness of Christ (which has fulfilled the whole nature of the law) and live in Him as to abide within a "law abiding" way. By allowing God the Father to help us through the person and nature of Jesus, we become "law abiding citizens" in this life and in the life to come. I don't know if that is what you mean by what you are saying, Pastor, but that's how I interpreted it. I pray this helps somebody understand that by being in Christ, we have been fulfilled and completed in the law by only being in Him. Praise be to God

    Happy Luther's Reformation Day. 📖✝️🕊
Martin Luther who said, “I can only choose to adhere to the Word of God, which has possession of my conscience; nor can I possibly, nor will I ever make any recantation, since it is neither right nor safe to act contrary to conscience! Here I stand; I cannot do otherwise, so help me God! Amen.”
Luther went through many stages of Faith in Christ.
And finally realized Christ did it all.
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”
    ‭‭Titus‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
    Thanks for the preaching....
The Law reminds us we need God's Grace in Christ.

Just as anyone at any age can become a Christian. I was baptized as an infant, and my parents sang and spoke to me of my Savior long before any child psychologist would say I understood. My testimony is that from my earliest memories, Jesus was always my Savior. There was never a time he wasn't.
My grandfather-in-law didn't become a Christian until he had severe dementia. One day two years ago, for the last time, my father-in-law asked him, "Will you please join me in the Lord's family." He'd asked thousands of times for decades. This time he said, Yes!

If you believe Mark 16 where Christ says if you believe and are Baptized, you shall be saved, you might be a Lutheran. Just playing devil’s advocate.
Isn’t the problem in this analogy that the son has been created (by the father) such that he is incapable of willing to eat his vegetables and obey his parents? Or isn’t the problem that his will is by nature bent toward disobedience, for which he is punished? Like punishing a leopard for having spots? It seems like the first analogy works, but the same “problem” arises with the explanation.
Thank you for these videos, pastor!

I don't have to. I'm saved by Grace. However the OT Saints under the Law were able to keep it. What they could not do was not sin. God gave the provisions of Temple worship so they could keep the Law. If they did what the Law instructed, they kept the Law. It was a bit like today; speed, get a ticket, you broke the law. Pay the fine and your back in good graces with the law.
Too many religions today have created things their members must do. Basically those religions are trying to control the membership by lording over their salvation.

Can we keep the admonishment/ command of Jesus to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, etc., or He will say, when they tell Him how many good works they did in His name, "Depart from Me, you workers of iniquity, I never knew you."? It sounds like this is something we're not forgiven for by grace.

That's an interesting thought. It seems the people who did those good things mentioned them to show themselves to be good. But no amount of good deeds we do is ever even close enough to make ourselves good. Only Christ's finished work on the cross is enough. Do the good work, but be clear about it that our work does not wash away our sin or make us justified. Sorry, I'm no theologian.

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
      ---
So, can we as Christians just shrug that off and say we're forgiven for these sins of omission because of Christ's work on the Cross? I would say Jesus is telling them that a true conversion will produce the Father's heart in faithful believers and followers. Jesus demonstrated what that was in His special love for and ministry to the afflicted and oppressed, the outcasts and downtrodden. Shouldn't a true conversion produce that in us as well?

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
