Hey Andrew, I guarantee that the motherboard did not get warped from bad packing by the seller. Fiberglass boards are extremely strong and very flexible. You can try bending a dead one to see if it will stay bent and you will find that it always comes back to the original shape. Great channel, my friend!

I work on laptops on almost a daily basis and I can assure you they can get bent like that in shipping.

Hi bro, I know that the seller try the best, he send fully working tested motherboard I cannot denied that. We have conversation and I suggest to use little bit larger boxes, the box is little bit tight, btw I have this problem several times :D in larger box there is more space. The post service sometimes trying the best but sometimes they don't really care

@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew Hi friend, a great channel - I have the same device with stuffing, but only from HP, but unfortunately and to my misunderstanding BF 2042, it works extremely poorly - 20-25 fps (((The processor is the same, the same amount of RAM and the same video card - although the game is installed on HDD.

A freak accident can fry a motherboard like that. Usually here you’ll buy a new used laptop because replacing the motherboard costs as much buying a new used laptop so it isn’t an economical repair.

You want to make the super glue dry faster and stick to the plastic better? Use a little bit of cotton around the area you want to repair, then add the super glue. It will act as a substrate between the plastic and super glue, much like how they use carbon or glass fiber on carbon fiber and fiberglass parts. Been doing it for repairs on any car or motorcycle plastic parts for a long time and it works really well. great video!!!

That was an excellent repair and restoration! Most people who have such problems, such as motherboard issues, usually either give up totally, or disassemble the laptop and sell it for its parts only. So it's good that you did a repair, and also got almost everything working again. :)
I always wrap up everything I send well, with good amounts of protection, for the very reason you found out!
Also, the only things I would have done differently is: 1) change RAM to 32GB instead of 16GB, and 2) add optical CD/DVD drive, as the laptop had DVD drive bay but wasn't actually used (and also didn't have 3rd disk).

I enjoy all of your videos and thank you for the hard work you put into them.
But, personally, I would never go near any electronics device that has been hit by a lightning strike. The problem that you immediately have is a large number of components in that entire device might not just be burnt out but may also be weakened and fail long before their natural lifespans. Yes, you changed the motherboard but all of the other components (RAM, hard disk, power supply, screen assembly, etc.) could have been affected and therefore cannot be trusted.
Although of a different scale, back in the early 1990's when I was working in telecoms, I had to go and fix a large business phone system that had also suffered a lightning strike. The system was made up of a number of large cabinets with many interface cards to provide extension phones and analogue and digital exchange lines. It took us weeks to fully fault find all of the issues on it - we changed out many interface cards, power supplies, CPU boards, memory boards and phones, and it took us weeks to fix it. We even had some new faults appear (because of weakened components) even while we were fixing the original issues.
You just have no idea as to extent of lightning strike damage.

Nice restoration. But could have been better to use the samsung 970 evo nvme for the main boot drive instead of the gigabyte, then go budget for the 1tb sata drive.

Another excellent job, and it serves as a reminder that laptops can be a PITA. Dead motherboard, broken hinges, overheating, dust and human particles everywhere, dishonest sellers with terrible packaging, defective replacement parts, secondary failures... yeah, no. I'll take something like your Masterframe 700 monster any day of the week.
