CO-MEDIATOR - "Mary is the co-mediator to whom we can entrust all our cares and petitions" (Catechism 968-970, 2677). That's a contradiction against the word of God! The word of God is very clear there is only one mediator, and that is Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5-6) says, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men -- the testimony given in its proper time." Why go to Mary and the saints when you can go directly to Jesus Christ and ask Him for help? "The worship of images and relics, the invocation of saints, and the exaltation of the pope are devices of Satan to attract the minds of the people from God and from His Son. To accomplish their ruin, he endeavors to turn their attention from Him through whom alone they can find salvation. Does the Bible say Mary is the mother of God? Uh, NO!! At Luke 1:31 35, the angel says to Mary: "Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God." So, was Mary the mother of God? No. Instead, she was to become the mother of the Son of God.
To those who objected Mary as being the Mother of God, I have these to share: First, Jn 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” Here, Christians should ask these two questions: 1. How did God give his only Son to the world? 2. Did God give the world his only Son as one whole, undivided person, or did God give the world only a portion of his only Son? To question #1, God gave his only Son to the world through Mary. To question #2, God gave the world his only Son wholly and undivided. So, through Mary, the second person of the Holy Trinity entered this world and became man by taking on human flesh and a human soul in the womb of Mary. For this reason, Jesus is true God and true man. In His person are united both a divine nature and human nature. Mary gave birth to this true God and true man person; she is the Mother of God. To say that Mary gave birth only to the ‘man Jesus’ is to say that God did not give the world his only Son. Second, though the Son of God has no beginning and no end, “for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit, he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.” This means, at some point in time between eternity and eternity, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity comes down from heaven, becomes incarnate of the Virgin Mary and becomes man. This point in time belongs to God, and when it comes, God creates Mary, the handmaid of the Lord, to fulfill his plan. This point in time is the time which St. Paul wrote:Gal 4: 4-5, (4) But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, (5) to ransom those under the law, so that we might receive adoption. So Mary did not create the divine person of Jesus, who existed with the Father from all eternity. Rather, when the fullness of time came, the divine person of Jesus came down from heaven, united himself to one egg in Mary’s womb and became man. This man, therefore, must be truly man and truly God. Since Mary gave birth to this truly man and truly God person; she truly is the mother of God. If Mary did not give birth to Jesus who is true God and true man, then who became man? Who became incarnate of the Virgin Mary? If the divine person of Jesus did not unite himself to one egg in Mary’s womb and became man, how did the Word became flesh? Where and how did the incarnation take place? Therefore, those who believed that Mary gave birth only to the man Jesus and the divine Jesus united himself to this man afterward denied the mystery of the incarnation; they believed in possession instead. Third, - Before Mary became pregnant, the angel clearly said to her that the Son she will conceive is the Son of the Most High, not a mere regular man. Lk 1:31,32, (31) Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. (32) He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of David his father,” - While Mary was pregnant, filled with the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth proclaimed that Mary is the mother of God. Lk 1:42, 43, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. (43) And how does this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” - The night Mary gave birth to Jesus, the angel, again, proclaimed that the child Jesus is our Savior, the Messiah and Lord. Lk 2:10, 11, (10) And the angel said to them, "Be not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people; (11) for today in the city of David a Savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. So to reject Mary as being Mother of God is to deny that Jesus Christ come in the flesh. To these St. John wrote: 1-Jn 4:2-3, “(2) This is how you can know the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges Jesus Christ come in the flesh belongs to God, (3) and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus does not belong to God. This is the spirit of antichrist, as you heard, is to come, but in fact is already in the world.” Finally, it is written that the angel proclaimed that the child born of the Virgin Mary is the Son of the Most High; he is the Messiah, our Savior and our Lord. It is also written that Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and proclaimed that Mary is the Mother of God. By proclaiming that Mary truly become the Mother of God, the Catholic Church did no more than reaffirming what was already written in the Bible.
I see it this way, who is Mary? The other of Jesus. Who is Jesus? God. Therefore, Mary is the Mother of God. I only recently came to understand that. Protestants have it all wrong in regards to Mary.
Let's remember whose idea it was that God should take flesh and be born of a woman (his mother) - if anyone has a problem with that I suggest you take it up with Him.
I would like to invite you to read about fetal microchimerism. Mary played more important role in Jesus life and subsequently in our life than we think. I also respect the point of view of other people since In the past I have not given to much attention to Mary. Our knowledge is limited we are not able to proof everything this is called Faith. By loving Mary and creating relationship with her we will not take anything from Jesus. She is not goddess she is amazing example of Saint and first Apostle of Jesus. God bless you all.
Catholics use Luke 1:43 to claim Mary was the 'mother of God'. They point to the word 'Adonay' ( Lord ) which Elisabeth is supposed to have uttered. This word is only used in the OT as applying to YHWH, the Almighty King of universe. The word she actually used which is evident in all of the earliest & most reliable MSS is Not 'Adonay' but 'Kurios' ( Vines; 'Lord' 'master'} Jesus used this general term at Luke 19:16 when the receivers of the minas returned to their Lord ( Luke 19:16). Thus Elisabeth was inspired to recognise that the baby in her couzin's womb would grow up to be her 'Lord' & Master'. Not her God.
in the Bible, Jesus is called the Only Begotten Son of God...because God is His Father...Jesus is also called the son of man...because He was born through a woman. the difference is that one is the Son of God is Deity and the son of man is earthly...so Jesus was 100% God and 100% man Mary was a human like all humans and needed to be saved from sin also...Jesus did not need to be saved from sin, He was the Savior of sinners though we honor Mary as bringing forth our Lord Jesus into the world, we do not honor her as the mother of God, but the mother of the human experience of God
Then why did Elizabeth say at Luke 1:43 "But why am I so favoured that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?" This means that Mary IS the mother of God (the Son).
Jesus Christ is God. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of God. While Jesus Christ had two natures, one human and one divine (this explains why Jesus hungers, thirsts, experiences the wide range of human emotions, sleeps, feels pain, dies, etc. etc. He was like us in all things save sin), He was, and is, one person. To say that the Blessed Virgin gave birth to the "human experience" of Jesus is to attempt to divide His Personhood. Mother's do not give birth to natures or experiences, they give birth to persons, to claim otherwise is to participate in the Nestorian heresy. The Council of Ephesus declared the already widely held Christian belief that Mary is the Holy Theotokos, the "God-bearer", the Mother of God. All of the Church's Marian doctrines are held, in faith, as a shield that guards the true and orthodox representation of who Jesus was/is. Saint Elizabeth does not declare, "Who am I that the mother of my Lord's humanity should come to me." No. She declares: "Who am I that the mother of my Lord (both human and divine) should come to me." The same Jesus, both fully human and fully God, that proclaimed the Kingdom, performed miracles, suffered, was crucified, rose again on the third day and ascended to the Father; and now sits at His right Hand, is the very same Jesus that was conceived, by the Holy Spirit, in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Jesus Christ is Lord, Jesus Christ is God...the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of God.
Red see your trying to make God small so you can better understand him. The fact is with God all things are possible, why would God allow his son to be carried by someone who was stained with sin? The answer is He wouldn't. Mary was saved by Jesus. It was while she was in her mother's womb.
You would well to honest God instead and stop deifying Mary and making something she was never meant to be. She did sin actually and her conception was not immaculate as that was made up by the Roman Catholic Church and is not scriptural. The Pope has no authority to add to scripture. Martin Luther didn't believe Mary was without sin once he got saved out of the false RCC and came to the truth of the scriptures. Please stop worshipping Mary as a goddess she was an extremely humble and devout Jewess.
So I guess we shouldn't use the word trinity because it's not in the bible? You said she actually sinnned where is the proof? Even an Arch Angel so is way above us with more power had to come to her and say Hail favored one in honoring her, likewise we should show her the same honor shouldn't we follow suit of what our guardians angels do?
