Wow lots of fun floating down a river. Oh no, food poison. Be careful guys. Nice place and view of the countryside. High mountain to hike. Lots of river drive bars and volley ball game and limbo dancing..fun fun fun
I’m Laotian but now I live in New Zealand. Thank you for traveling to Laos. Laos is a small country That is little known and Laos people, they are very shy especially people live in small village or small town. ☺️ You did a nice vlog I just subscribe. I want to introduce you to watching classical Laos song on UA-cam: Tingnoinoi. They are young people who keep Laos classic alive and all of them from Luang Prabang. Thank you again🙏 Hope you come to Laos again I’m waiting to see your vlog in Laos again 😊
So, they resumed the tubing in Vang Vieng. I was in Luang Prabang 6yrs ago and the tubing was forbidden due to some tourists that went down the river high and drunk, and ended up drowning. Continuem com os ótimos vídeos, sigo vcs desde Bali...
How times have changed. Remember being there in 2007 and there were around 40 bars and wild parties. Anything went. Thank you to see how it has changed. Enjoy anyway.

Why would you travel all the way to Lao just to hang out with a bunch of "White folk"? Pathetic !!! I've been in Lao about 25 times and have been in Vang Viang twice!! Almost as "BAD" as Pai NW of Chiang Mai. I lived in Mae Hong Son, Thailand and I had to travel through Pai to get to Chiang Mai. 15 minutes in Pai is about 10 minutes longer than I could stomach because of all the "White Folk" there !! If your going to travel "hang" out with the locals !! Oh and by the way I am "White Folk"!!!
I did this trip 20 years ago . Stunning . Overland travel at the time by road was risky . We traveled in a convoy. Nice people but terrible corrupt officials.
@@JumpingPlaces when I arrived from Thailand into Loas across the Mekong river I didn't check to see if they stamped my passport correctly. My wife's was fine, on leaving loas in Vienten they asked me how I entered the country . They said you must return to my place of entry or pay a four hundred us dollar fine. They also became visually agressive . I ended up giving them 20 us dollars and left the country . Canada at that time had no embassy and they would and could take advantage of it . We were also offered drugs by a female (opium) . This I suspect was a set up between her and the police for cash from you . In general I found the people from loas very kind and friendly. When we were there there was oily three million people in the whole country. The country was stunning .
@@JumpingPlaces maybe try and get your Cambodian visa beforehand if you can or at least have dollars to pay for it. I've had a few problems at the Cambodian borders before. Dont pay for any health checks they say u need there either it's just another con of theirs.
Just arrived in Laos today! Can already feel the more chill laidback Theravada energy here compared to Vietnam. Next I want to find where they are hiding the Palm Leaf Manuscripts ;)
Hi I am from Indonesia. This video gave me more idea about some interesting places in Lao while other sources didn't. I was just surprised while get noticed that the bike has "Indonesia" plate. How could Indonesia's bike be put there. 😂
Been there in 2011 before army cracked down , totall madness back then. Alot more bars and alot more (deadly) drunken accidents . Came back in 2016 only 1 bar open on the river. Looks much busier now guess this was pre covid.
So nice en joyfull te see you having a good time....wish i could be at that party...best wishes from Erik...by the way you look a bit more swollen...and thanks for this great video...
Stayed in that same hostel (but moved to Rock backpackers the next day, was a bit too quite for me). That was back in mid-November. Was the tubing still we three bars or did they increase them from the three. Glad to see that you guys are still on the move. Enjoy yourselves and as always, cheers.
Much different than my experience. We had like 6 people go down the river in 1 day. The party was not happening that day. Sucks to be sick in that situation though. I know.
Eureka, Chris & Carol, I think you might have stumbled upon a type of video that could really bring in a ton of views. Look at Gabriel, who made a quirky video he called ‘Psychedelic Pool Party in the Greek Islands’ that fell into his lap by accident when busloads of Swedes showed up at his previously quiet campground.... and has racked up more than 5 million views to date, his runaway best seller. Talk about going viral! Ha! In another video he said after he posted it, it dawdled along, then caught on fire. Why not this one, too? Carol Up, Carol Down was classic. What nationality(ies) were all the other partiers? A lot of diff ones or mostly from one country, could u tell? Also, do they use the U.S. dollar in Laos? (I think I heard that somewhere.) I thought I saw Carol getting change in $ bills. Sorry to hear you got laid low again by the FP - u were a trooper spinning around in a tube but it was good for both u & your wife to get out after being cooped up in your room for days. Party on.
Haha I think I have seen that video of his, a lot of the tourists in Laos are French but there were many brits also on the river and a few Americans and Spanish from what I could tell. The currency here is the Laotian kip, don’t think you can use dollar anywhere here
Yeah the only upside to getting sick is that we are able to catch up on all of our UA-cam videos so now youtube is fully up to date and I have no videos to edit, will film a new one today 😁

Mmmmmm.......I thought they had shut down all the river bars too - perhaps they are regulating it a bit more - maybe no more crazy slides or swings.
Tubing is always a blast unlike food poisoning that sucks.

Yeah I can’t even imagine how nuts it must have been if even now it’s still pretty nuts
yeah many many backpackers died so they closed lots of the bars for good reason!!!

my wife and i meet there 9 years ago and god damn the place was off tap. they had about 12 bars all full with people. Miss those times.
Find a new wife. 9 years is a lot.
i was there in 2003 when there was a guy renting you a tube and driving you upstream on a motorcycle . you might see a few beer huts on the way back.
Aahhh tubing!!! So much fun!!! Tbh, the crowd gave me anxiety...i could smell the alcohol through my phone screen 🥵
haha yeah a lot of drinking went down, luckily I didn’t see anybody in much of a bad state while we were there
Alcohol is everywhere, but i heard here in bars are menu cards with prices and quantities of hashish, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms even opium
its really nice to see you're playing with kids
