- This video has been a long time in the making but we're finally here! I really thought I was going to be able to make this a 30-45min guide video but here we are at over 1.5 hrs 😂
I tried to cram in as much basic information as I can about growing anthuriums successfully (most of which is based off of my personal experience and observations). This is for everyone that has asked for all of the care info to live in one place ❤️
I will be doing a part 2 of this video as well -- it will be a Q&A answering as many of the questions you guys submitted on IG as I can!

This is sooo incredibly helpful, especially to those of us who are still new to and intimidated by Anthurium. Thank you so much Alice!! 🫶🌿
Thank you Fern! 🥹❤️❤️
I just got my first anthurium, a crystallinum and pausing and taking notes on my phone here and there, thank you so much! Your vid was sent to me by the seller of the seedling :)
I have some imports on the way! 😅🙏📝✌️
Don’t usually comment on videos but just letting you know this content is priceless and full of valuable experiences. I’ll be re watching this several times to digest this all
If anyone is reading this, check out the anthurium video by grow proteas. Their anthuriums are MASSIVE (think 4’+ leaves) and they reveal a common plant tip that actually stunts anthurium leaves from sizing up. She mentions it for a second in this video but I don’t think anyone grasps how crucial it is.
Probably the best educational video on anthuriums on UA-cam. Thank you so much for all your time and energy you spent filming this. I will refer to this video so many times. I learnt so much the first time I watched it and repeated different sections so many times. Thankyou Alice, you are a good soul. Xx
watched your channel for a while and I just wanted to let you know, that, besides being informative, your tone is very welcoming. You never come off as the "I am the expert". It's more of a "this is what works for me". I just so happened to be questioning my own anthurium care, especially watering and humidity. This came up in my feed today and I'm thankful.
Hands down one of the most informative videos about Anthurium care! Awesome!! Saving this for multiple reviews. Thank you so much!
Yayay!!! I can tell I’m going to watch this video MULTIPLE times. Thanks so much Alice.
Thank you Lilian!!!
This is such an awesome video. Thank you for taking the time to do this! 😊
The information in this video is priceless 👌
Would love to see a video where you try to troubleshoot peoples plants, that’s another way to learn mot about this species of plants. 🌱💚
Thank you Kathy! I’d love to do another one of those troubleshooting videos soon
Watched the whole video. Great nuggets of gold in here. Thank you!
Thank YOU! 🥹
Thanks for all the info! Great overview of your anthurium care and it's so helpful to have this all in one video.
Thank you for giving us such a comprehensive guide on growing anthuriums! Really appreciate you breaking this down, especially when it comes to nutrients (because I get so lost sometimes with do’s/dont’s).
Thank you for sharing your experience and insight. For a newby to growing anthuriums it’s so much easier to get a grasp on the fundamentals watching something like this then trying to decipher which care guide on a google search is more reliable than the others. Your have some beautiful plants :)
I'm so happy i found you! I just started my adventure with anthurium and I was already messing up. Thank you so much for all these pointers and recs! ❤
Experience really is the best teacher 😍 This video is so comprehensive- loved every minute 💚
Your video was freaking fantastic ! ❤ you give us more confidence with all your info! Thank you!
Thank you Mary 🥹❤️
Great video Alice 🎉 appreciate your time and hard work! 💚
I appreciate you Aubrey 🥹❤️
Great content and pace!!
Instant follow after only like 5 min into this video. I’m just now getting into anthuriums and this is so helpful!!!
What a full informative video I have seen. Appreciate it much! I just can't imagine you can talk in one shot for all the very important informations. THANKS
10 seconds in and had to open the comments to say WOW YOUR HAIR LOOKS STUNNING
Thank you Hannah 😆😆
wow the cal-mag differences is intense. thank you for that comparison side by side!!! This video is amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing! Ive been more into Anthurium and Alocasia, so this video has really helped step up my care a lil :3
Wow, awesome plants! 👍😃
my debile shriveled up a year ago, i’m still salty. A Polish plant lover I know told me that Debile means idiot in Polish. So fitting 😅
HAHAHHAA
Debile: 🧍🏻
I really enjoyed watching your videos so much information
Anthuriums will love my house then my house dips and rises constantly in spring and fall. It’s pretty consistent in summer and winter though. I repotted mine in more Tree Fern fiber and panicked because it stayed wet for so many days I was afraid of root rot, so I reported and added Molly’s Aroid Mix, a little Tree Fern and mixed in my Bonsai Jack Grit mix. Hopefully that is a good medium!Thank you so much for this video!
Idk how many times I've watched this video! 😂💚
The best video I could have asked for right now!!
Thank you for another super helpful and awesome video!! 🥰🥰
Thank you Shelby!!
I was the same with stratum. I had a bag for months unopened, until my ilselmanii decided to loose all the roots. Since I haven't seen any hope for it, decided to put it in stratum as it was the only media it didn't grow in, and... omg I was so surprised. Since then decided to put some chonks in it and they grew roots nicely too! I guess I'll start to use it more
i’m in loveee with the anthurium content and my god this could not come at a better time!! thank you so much for your videos and your love towards the genus 🫶🫶
Thank you Bill! I probably would not have half as much fun on UA-cam if it weren’t for anthuriums 😅
Thank you so much for this amazing video - this is so super-helpful. Greetings vom Germany.
I really liked this Video, thank you 😊
Thank you, helpful vid
Yay! I’m here for it!🫶🏼
J ai adoré cette vidéo très informative. ❤. Amitié de france
So gorgeous (and the anthurium are lovely too) Great info! Thanks!
😂😂😂 thank you so much!
Also I wanted to ask, should I repot the plants I barely got right away? I got these from Ecuagenera and they all came in 4" pots. I appreciate the feedback as I really need to know your take on this. Thank you!
@youdontevengrowhere hi Alice you said 100goot. Candles is good light for an anthurium. Did you misspeak or do you really see growth at that low light? I’m trying to figure out if my light leaves are from high light or something else. I’m using barring bars and solace highlight rails
Thanks
Would love a list of anthuriums that like high light to get darker
Great videos !
From my experience I found hot water is good in fighting spider mites. Just turn the tab to the hottest ( that shouldn’t be boiling but really hot) and I am pretty sure it will work.
Once an anthurium is established with lots of roots i have no issues, but Im really struggling with seedlings…I’ve killed three seedlings from Kartel daun and it hurts my heart. I know you’ve said before to keep them swampy buuuuut, the roots keep rotting on me. So maybe the substrate isn’t working for me? I typically use pon and now some of my seedlings are in tree fern and pon and that seems to work well…so any advice would be helpful!!!
hi , 1 question. your clarablackiw is from seed or stem cut? thank you
Do you put on heat mats with your cutting of anthurium?
Honestly, no drainage in glass vessels just seemed to make my plants grow slower. It's not one size fits all for sure. I bought a friedschthalii last August, put it in glass, and it still hasn't grown a leaf. I'm transitioning all of my glass vessel plants into drainage + glass vessel for a water table. My wendlingeri didn't grow a single leaf til I got it out of moss/glass vessel
Another dope video! 💚 This the shit we love! 🪴🕺🏽
Thank you so much!!!
Ahh another great one Alice!! This is going to be so helpful, particularly the sizing up which I’ve been afraid to do so boldly. I am going to dare🖤🌸
You can do it Yoli! I did it gradually because of space and supply and I’m glad i didn’t do it all at once
Thank you so much for this video! ✏️🗒💚
Thank you for watching!! 🥹
❤❤
Another video❤❤
I got introduced to anthuriums through you and Charmaine
you guys taught me the bin method and when buying anthuriums buy seedlings 👍
👍
I also really started appreciate the beauty of hybrids and emergent leaves
An example being my indo portx lux
The way it has the shape of the indo port and the lux petiole and leaf texture 👍
👍
Thank you Alice ❤️for introducing me to anthuriums ❤
Oh dear goodness I can just picture that port lux 🤤 thank you for being here as always Sarah!!
@@youdontevengrowhere It’s the best purchase of 2023 so far
always a pleasure ❤️😘to be here 😘
Such a nice vid!
Great video Alice!
Well put together queen 👑🖤
Thank you love 🥹
This was a very informative vid. Thanks so much for sharing!
I´m new to Anthuriums and have learn a lot from you. This video was so good for gathering a lot of info. Thank you! ♥
Awesome Video! Watched only 6 minutes yet but already loving it.
40:59
Omg, I'm a beginners with anthuriums, and I just wanted something to help me started, I wish someone could give me a fool proof mixture for this plant, but I got so confused with all the names and things your tried, I just got totally lost :'(
Why everything is so complicated
Big fan of calling it a Toblerone
Omg I love this thank u lol ur an actual icon
Omg an icon 😂 thank you so much for watching!
Thank you for all the information
Now everyone can grow anthurium (in case they watch this video)👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you so much for this very informative video. I love when you talk about your different substrates and why you plant different types of plant in different ways. Would love you to do a session on Hoya 💮
Yes on the stratum!
I need to stop forgetting about stratum 🥲
@@youdontevengrowhere I also have it from aquarium keeping, and don’t use it for plants for all of the reasons you listed. It’s just not a go to for me
thank you so much! i got great white on your recommendation. i’m excited! how exactly do you use? just when you repot? sprinkled on roots? or diluted and watered with that solution regularly? thanks!
99% of the time I just dissolve it in water and water it over the root zone! But if I’m really antsy about the repot I will sometimes sprinkle it dry over the roots
@@youdontevengrowhere thanks so much! do you do it regularly, or just once after you’ve repotted?
In a perfect world I’d reinoculate potted plants every 1-2 months but for most of my plants it’s only when they get repot or if I’m feeling like it’s not growing as fast as it should 😅
How much do you add to a gallon of water. I've been using 1/8 tsp but I haven't seen any differences in terms of growth.
@@youdontevengrowhereok awesome. i really appreciate your sharing all this! i’m going in today on a bunch of plants to see what happens.
I'm so glad that you are on UA-cam and that you really go into the nitty-gritty of Anthurium care. I really want to learn more about how to be successful in growing these beautiful plants. Watching your videos gives me confidence. Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you so much 🥺🥺
Спасибо большое! Очень познавательное видео! На вас приятно смотреть и слушать))) антуриумы шикарные❤
As a new anthurium lover, your video is the best for me. Thank you for these awesome info 🌿😊💚
👍🙏🌱🌏☕
Im gonna call it a Toblerone it's too cute not too
❤❤❤
Are you kidding me??!! I'm in the process of switching all my anthurium to glass vessels like yours... now you aren't doing that anymore...😮 lol!
Same! 😢
Спасибо, что делитесь опытом, за полезное видео! Интересная и актуальная для меня тема!❤
Btw today i juat received my Anthoriums from Eddy Pranoto (Epp) from indonesia, they’re quite bigger than what i hv expected. My tree fern doesnt come on time so my plant mix has no fern to it, but hopefully it can be good also for the plant.
Perfect video to repot my Carla to!! How did you get yours so dark??? I need mine to be that pretty 😩
New leaves are definitely the blackest and they’ll stay that way for about a month or so before hardening to dark green!
❤
For some reasons YT keeps removing my comments, I'm not even saying anything that's breaking ToS, so odd.
Anyway, I had made a huge plant purchase on anthuriums, I've added 12 new baby plants to my collection. Glad you made this video, as I've just been winging it on their care! Haha!
Something tells me you winging it would have worked out fine anyways haha! Congrats on your many new babies!
Thanks for making this video. The two anthuriums, my vittarifolium and magnificum, are doing bad, so I needed help.
I would love to see all the Anthirums that have been accumulated to room conditions!!!!!
It’s on the list of videos to make in the future!
Amazing video! It’s really hard to find this type of content.
New here and subscribed :). Not just for this video but I’m looking at getting this genus this year. And in Leca or pon as that’s the medium i like most
Also, high humidity can help, but I do know they do learn to tolerate low humidity ❤.
Welcome Kay!!
great stuff - thank you! I would love a deeper dive into fertilizers, particularly combining or adding supplements. After hearing how you fertilize I'm concerned that I've been over-fertilizing by adding cal-mag to Foilage flow and Super Thrive vitamin...???😕
Alice, I have my Splendisum in a plastic display box from Amazon. It maintains 92% to 99% humidity and she loves it. The secret with them is no air movement. The box only gets opened once a month or so for me to check in and water if needed. I also keep some terrarium begonias and a few other terrarium plants in there to make a nice display.
Perfect! I want 24 to be my year of anthuriums, I just bought a bunch of babies.
Love the waves! 💚
Loved the video. It’s like you can read my mind😊. Can you please tell me if the Carla is pure or hybrid?
Thank you Sue! Carlablackiae is a pure species 😊
I couldn't find anything online about this. What is the difference between tree fern fiber and tree fern soil?
Tree fern soil is TFF mixed with soil - I show my mix in the substrates section!
@@youdontevengrowhere ahh, thanks! :D
we are lucky here in the Philippines tree fern fiber is very cheap here $2 for 1kg but can find cheaper than that... i just bought 17pcs, tree fern blocks for $4 (200 pesos) and shredded it to become a fiber and i made a 10kg of tree fern fiber.
I’m over here crying in $165 TFF bags 🥲
Put all your low light anthuriums on the same shelf and your light tolerant together on a shelf
It really is crazy just how much of a difference humidity makes with anthuriums, especially velvet leaf ones. I owned several when I started and within a week, they had gotten crisp and misshapen in my 65% humidity bedroom. Than I put them in some terrarium tanks, and within a week they had put out about 5 leaves each. Now they grow LIKE WEEDS. Seriously ppl, put your anthuriums in humidity containers!!!
Toblerone it is from now on! 😛
😂😂
Lol i feel that last 'chapter' about FB was directed at me 😅😅😅
One day, Zuck is going to catch on and then he'll enforce FB's T&C. Sellers (commercial or not) should be using FB Marketplace. Not groups. Which is why I'd be weary to build my plant business on FB groups. Also noteworthy, eBay has now in Europe (or at least Germany, that I know for sure) been ordered to report any sellers making more than 30 sales or 2,000 EUR in sales. Because people are usually bypassing taxes and pass thresholds for commerciality. Also, it isn't fair towards properly registered plant shop owners, who (again, in Europe) have to issue plant passports when they ship plants, even within Europe. Also, consumer protection, etc... There's my bit on buying/selling. But I agree, I get some of my best plants from "private" collectors.
Loved this video! Thank you for putting it together.
3:20 That's the petiole insertion!
🫶
Where is my plants toblerone
🤣🤣🤣 maybe it’s not in toblerone yet
@@youdontevengrowhere ok ill wait, then I'm going to make that first chocolate luxurians great videos by the way. I literally watched this at the gym. That's when you know the anthurium addiction is bad. LOL
Thank you so much for making this! Do you need to space out the application or apply the fertilizer/cal mag/ myco in any order?
As a matter of fact im here for another watch! 🤌🏽🪴😂💚
