  • This lesson from Module 2 of Foodomics and Society, titled "Sustainability, Equity, and Planetary Health: What's at Stake and What Will It Take?" is presented by Dr. Anna Lartey. Dr. Lartey is a professor of Nutrition at the University of Ghana and formerly served as the director for Nutrition at the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations and president of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences.
In this lesson, Dr. Lartey examines food and diet quality from a systems perspective and introduces sustainable food systems and planetary health framework to consider the issues at stake, such as malnutrition, diet-related disease, environmental degradation, and climate change.
We encourage you to reflect on how taking a systems-level approach enables us to evaluate synergies and trade-offs across social, environmental, and economic domains of the food system.
