I met Pete briefly at the Nottingham model railway show a few years ago. What a great man, a friendly Guy, his enthusiasm for the hobby is just fantastic.
Thanks for shooting this video first, second THANK Pete and all his volunteers/workers for putting this on again !!!!!! I really wish we ( in Canada ) would do something like this show, but since Covid I feel the many shows have dried up....
Amazing well the whole project always was. I can't wait to see you invited along that would be crazy brilliant for Making Tracks 4. Great tour and great interview with the chief sandwich maker.
Richard, thanks for the guided tour of this excellent layout. We were there on the day you were recording this and can be seen at the end of the layout as you finish talking to Phil. I had a good chat with Pete about modelling and railways in general. Great channel, I'm using your layout for inspiration and techniques for my model railway.
A great video showing the Making Tracks layout, giving a general insight into its operation.. It’s a layout for the general public, as well as railway enthusiasts of all ages. I was a volunteer and looked after the public operators of all ages, some as young as 2 and the oldest gentleman was 91, they all thoroughly enthralled and enjoyed the experience. Liked your reference of the size your layout to the size of making tracks, showed how big this great layout is .. Good to meet you, and look forward to operating with you again . x The Bigfella x
Great vid, i am not a train buff, nor modeller, Grandad was back 50 years ago, but i do appreciate the hard graft and work, dedication, and passion these people put into such an exhibition, to me, Pete Waterman, has always been a well grounded and in touch with reality person, so a good ambassador for this cause
Hi Richard as I live just a few mile’s from where this layout was set up l visited it and was really impressed and also when I was at work before retiring our head office was at Milton Keynes in the glass office block and I can confirm that it is an exact replica of Milton Keynes central station.
No matter how many times I watch a video of these layouts I always spot something new ! Fantastic tour around . Can’t wait to see it in April in its latest form.
Lovely stuff Richard. Very cosy and close-knit vibe to this one despite the subject being Milton Keynes. Good luck with Tracks 4, sounds like you’ve got a spot there!
Great video Richard. I'm really looking forward to seeing this at the NEC in April. Pete unveiled our Buggleskelly bench in 2018 and I hope to get a chance to show him my Buggleskelly diorama at the show :)
Thx Richard for another vid, great to get out the garage!! Ive been watching a long time all the "making of" Making Tracks and have definitely penciled in the April show. Hopefully you get to take up Petes offer to do something on MT4 Now you've had your fun, its time to get back into your garage and share another update of NJ Thx again
I went to Chester to see it and sadly my eyesight isn't good enough to appreciate it in person. It's great that you've done a decent video on it to show it off. Was fun seeing the kids running trains and chasing them around the layout. First impression in Chester wasn't the size, largely because I heard Pete before i could see it! "There's nothing running out the front!" a line that every exhibition manager should take note of, this is entertainment and moving trains do just that.
Thanks for sharing buddy. This enterprise must equal, perhaps rival "Leamington Spa" in many ways now - heck of an achievement, just goes to show what a skilled and dedicated team can achieve.
A nice Richard. I thought you might have mentioned the biscuits in your previous video. I'm hoping to attend the NEC exhibition in April as I've missed out so far and would love to drive a class 50 given. I have 9 on order. I liked the last piece of music on this video
Very disappointed i couldn't make it to Northwich. We have a very poorly dog to look after and couldn't fit it in. Looking forward to April. Will definately get there!!!
Smashing jumper Chris edit: Also, i would Coogan or Gervais to write a tv show based on Phil edit edit: Was nice of Pete Waterman to give his time to model railways, who knew! very knowledgeable
Great video thank you. Question for you I see the wires going along in the air above the tracks for the electric trains, my question is Is there a set that has wires like that that actually supply the engine with power instead of through tracks? Thank you for your time Love your videos
A good video showcasing the layout here Richard, while I would love to see it in person I think it is very likely that won’t happen unfortunately, most times the layout is set up in places far away from where I live and from what I have seen it only attends the bigger shows which I don’t get to that much because again they are in places quite a distance from where I live, an overall good layout but just a shame that the only way I’m likely to experience it is through videos like this.
Great video and a fantastic layout … know the three big office blocks at the real station very well! My only gripe is that you have a Routemaster as the only bus … you could have picked up a Corgi OOC model of an Optare Solo Bus. Code/Ref: OM44106. Scale: 1:76. Livery: MK Metro Ltd. Route: 14 Stony Stratford That would have been far more appropriate!
Richard great video i know you get a great deal out of the hobby I am just getting into filming my own layout could you point me to a video camera small so I can film going around my OO guage railway layout
... I can't take those nicknamed "freedom units". Would be nice if the length was also mentioned in meters (e.g. as a Text note on the screen) alongside the size given in UK feet.
Beyond me why anyone would even want to visit there, but clearly they do so it must be me. BTW any time that I have ever used a train all I could see out of the windows anywhere that there was a building of any sorts was graffiti, but have not seen any of this in this model ?
More laser cut kits would be welcomed, as it would hopefully make them more affordable for us mere mortals... The lack of options from larger manufacturers is quite obvious once you start a project, and those they do offer are severely over priced.
See more n more are having issues with their accurascale class 37’s, sort it out accurascale n good on UA-camrs like CHADWICK MODEL RAILWAY, OORAIL BRITISH MODEL RAILWAYS, TORRIDON ROAD BY PETER DIXON, NEWLYNN RAILWAY, GRAHAM FOULSTON, BLUEBELL CENTRAL MODEL RAILWAY, KEVVY NOLAN, IRON HORSE RAILWAYS, DAVE AT ITS MY MODEL RAILWAY,
when you have that type of money, you can build what you want, and where will it be exhibited? Warley? I'd sooner pay to see a Z gauge at a little village exhibiton. Love your channel though
But the whole point is to entertain the public and excite them enough to bring new entrants into the hobby. The obvious thrill of young and old when driving the trains couldn’t be achieved with a “normal” layout. Yes, it takes money, but the team and volunteer drivers put in a heck of a lot of effort as well. You can’t buy that.
I met Pete briefly at the Nottingham model railway show a few years ago. What a great man, a friendly Guy, his enthusiasm for the hobby is just fantastic.
Amazing layout, very nicely filmed and great interview with Pete Waterman.
Many thanks!
Pretty cool... that's a whole lot of big...
All those 3D printed vehicles...👍
Well done everyone involved...
Thanks for filming and presenting...🙂🙏🇳🇿
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow what a great size layout and share New Junction. Now there’s some time put into that layout. Thanks for sharing have a great modelling day 😎🚂🫵 TSM

What a fantastic shop window for the hobby. Love the mix of rolling stock too. Epic is indeed the correct term.
This was a belter of a video! My dad and I really enjoyed watching this. Thanks very much for making this and all the hard work you do
My pleasure 🙏
Amazing well the whole project always was. I can't wait to see you invited along that would be crazy brilliant for Making Tracks 4. Great tour and great interview with the chief sandwich maker.
Can't wait myself, although I've been around for the previous three layouts with 'work'. 😆
Richard, thanks so much for sharing this monumental work with us. It was a joy to behold, including your interviews. Good job, lado.

As best they can do with the space yes
And here am I wondering if I can squeeze in another 1.5 m board in the garage. Inspirational layout, especially as I used to live in MK.
You only live once, squeeze two meters in! Haha
Pete said it, your hired! Congratulations can’t wait to see the next instalment and more stations!
A brilliant layout, great interview Richard with Pete Waterman, very informative.
No matter how many times I watch a video of these layouts I always spot something new ! Fantastic tour around . Can’t wait to see it in April in its latest form.

Fantastic video, Richard! I had a fantastic time being your cameraman on parts, plus being at the end with you! I should be so lucky, HAHA 😂👍🏼

Great video Richard - love that you got a shot of the Snowman in the Hi Viz jacket ! 🙂
Just a awesome layout
Great video Richard 😊 amazing work from each and everyone of you 👏 😊
Such a Legend Pete Waterman is 💯💯

Thanks Richard, great video.
Wow, Very Impressive !
I'm looking forward to seeing what they do next.
I love that Pete genuinely does go make sandwiches for everyone, he's such a great guy.
Amazing layout by the way.
Fabulous layout, superb video and interviews great stuff '
Glad you enjoyed it

awesome thx for the share.😊😊👍👍
Great display.
Thanks
Thank you for sharing Richard, it’s a fantastic layout, but why no people on that layout!!!!! Very strange
I know, right? Pete dosen't like model people haha
I wondered that.
Look how many people are on Miniature Wonderland in Hambourg....thousands!
It would probably double the layout build just putting the people on!!!
Imagine Chris psinting people as well as cars???
He be even more of a nutter! (Not an insult!)
Great job.
A nice Richard. I thought you might have mentioned the biscuits in your previous video.

amazing upload 👍🍀💯
Great vid feature , thanks for making it
Any time!
Hi Peter please please can you Bring the layout to Glasgow for Model Rail Scotland
Nice too see you're using Flora on the sandwiches Pete!
Show's your a man of taste👍
great video buddy
Really good
Pete’s Sandiness! Mr Waterman’s retirement hobby!😊
I suggested he get an office job for retirement 😅
Smashing jumper Chris edit: Also, i would Coogan or Gervais to write a tv show based on Phil edit edit: Was nice of Pete Waterman to give his time to model railways, who knew! very knowledgeable

Question for you
I see the wires going along in the air above the tracks for the electric trains, my question is
Is there a set that has wires like that that actually supply the engine with power instead of through tracks? Thank you for your time
Love your videos
Brilliant Richard, a great insight, just one question,. What was the ham sandwich like?
great vid
Great layout..... how's the backyard railway going??
It's too cold for that haha but nothings changed, just plods on

Fingers crossed!

Good point!
Sensation video as always! Just a thought, have you considered getting a Rodes Handheld Mic Accessory? Makes the interviews much easier
Lack of pennies sadly, I'm only playing at this aha
For the tilt could have done Wolverton north end !!
Big layout
Was there a reason for no figures?
Who drives the Delorean? 5:04 they need to park it better. 😂
Richard great video i know you get a great deal out of the hobby I am just getting into filming my own layout could you point me to a video camera small so I can film going around my OO guage railway layout
good vid on channel of a cool layout run by goot bunch of team rthanks for cool thanks lee
has phil got web site or email to contrack i wnat some one to laser cut the modle of hereford station

@@NewJunction
Where will this layout be next?
Model World live in April at the NEC, except the bigger version, all 208ft of it 😆
Where is this? Can we go visit it niw?
It's next on at the NEC in April
Great layout, but….
What’s the point of the station?, nothing stops there and there are no passengers to be seen.
... I can't take those nicknamed "freedom units". Would be nice if the length was also mentioned in meters (e.g. as a Text note on the screen) alongside the size given in UK feet.
Google? 😆
Wow! Did you just throw down a challenge to Metcalfe? 😂😂😂
I think I did 😆
@@NewJunction I can see them now… The “Making Tracks” west coast modern image range…🤔😜
Excellent video and all free, unlike the multi-part version being promoted by a well-known model railway publisher.
Yeah but that's done properly, and costs far more to produce than my visit. 😅
Beyond me why anyone would even want to visit there, but clearly they do so it must be me.
BTW any time that I have ever used a train all I could see out of the windows anywhere that there was a building of any sorts was graffiti, but have not seen any of this in this model ?
If he’s doing a full circle he should model Wembley to have an operational fiddle yard
He might do next aha got a lot of Cathedral to fill 😆
So what you are saying... is UK houses are too small for us modellers... :D
More laser cut kits would be welcomed, as it would hopefully make them more affordable for us mere mortals... The lack of options from larger manufacturers is quite obvious once you start a project, and those they do offer are severely over priced.

They should get in touch with Accurascale, who'll be more than happy to assist. 😊
@@NewJunctionyou’re apart of the accurascale team though what number should they be contacting then?
Is Phil a deeply disguised Christian Bale?
Not enough British electrification modelling out there.
