I can only imagine what it would have been like to sit in on that recording session and listening to this being played! The piece is much bigger than the sum of the parts. I believe this piece already existed and was waiting to be found by these guys! Absolutely stunning! The last half is waaay bigger than the playing!
Yup still the best and a top man to talk to aswell very humble, a good lesson for humanity, you can be great at something or indeed look great physically as a person depending on your chosen field and still be a beautiful person!!
@@darbysfarewell Well, if one had the fingers of Matt Molloy and the tone of Seamus Tansey the poise, and melodic sense.. of Paddy Carty we would have the complete player musician....any views from trad folk?
Hang on a sec, some young flute players are pretty damn good, like Barry Kerr for an example. He's not quite as good as Molloy, but that doesn't mean he's a 'hoofer'
Indeed ..he can make the flute sing ...he would have learned this from the older players who had a good sense of music and flow. Most modern players are hoofers by comparison. It's not that they generally have different style ..they are just not as good .
I have your C.D. Matt Molloy...its WONDERFUL....🥰
LA Flutte d'Argent +BLESSS.:
Matt Molloy is one of my two most favorite flute players... awesome ❤️
Who’s the other one?
Molloy is a genius flute player no one comes close really, just creative beauty that creates images when you listen.
So extremely always proud to be an Irishman x
Matt is the greatest 🎶🎵🎼💜💜💜💜
I had the honor of meeting Matt Molloy at his pub in Westport, Mayo once, in 1995. Very down-to-earth despite his superhuman flute skills.
Lucky you 😀
Superhuman is the right word

Yes Arty McGlynn on Guitar, Donal Lunny on Bouzouki and Christy Moore on Bodhran.... the dream team!
@@kevinburnsmusic3896 I thought it was Lunny on the bodhran, Its his distinctive cross rhythm style.
