    I did my install in 2018 with the gen 1. In the gen 1 there was switches to set and it was not as simple as the latest Tesla wall charger. I also used 40 amp ckt breaker and used wires rated at 55 amps my material was less than $150. The install was rather easy. With the latest wall connector it seems even easier.

      @@HawaiiDetailing Right, it may not charge to 60 amps but it will charge at 48 amps so installing the 60 amp breaker would allow that. I get 240V @ 32 amps (on a 40 amp breaker) with the included travel charger with the NEMA 14-50 connector installed (I had the outlet installed for my air compressor awhile back). I'm happy with that but if I had a wall connector, I'd want get the max out of it. You could get 44 miles of range per hour at 48 amps while my Model 3 on 32 amps charges at 29 or 30 miles of range per hour. Thanks for the reply!!!!

    It’s not charging at 16 mph because you are close to set point. It’s because your A/C or heat is running in the car using power. If you close the car and lock, it will go to 30

    Very informative video that was well narrated.
    I currently have a 240 V/50 A connection for my 2015 Tesla Model S in our garage. I sold the car and ordered a new refreshed Tesla S. Two questions:
    1. Is the mobile connector that comes with the car and an adapter be adequate?
    2. If I decide to get the Gen 3 Tesla Wall connector, how easy is it to hook it to the 240 V socket in our garage?
    3. How much would an electrician charge to do this conversion?
    Thanks.

    • @HawaiiDetailing

      1. It’s a reaaallly slow charge with the supplied 110 wall charger.

    My gen 3 wall charger was professionally installed few months ago and worked well. In the past week it would stop charging; error messages say to check the grounding and also to make sure it's torqued properly. Did the electrician not do a proper job? It did work well for several months...also I wasn't aware it's got wifi and that the PW was on the quick start guide (which I can't find)...my son was home for the installation and he simply handed him the boxed charger. Be nice if he'd informed me about the wifi...

      @@ManishShrestha-ju4np Without being on site to see the details I can’t really offer a suggestion on this. There are tables and guides out there. There are also a lot of variables for managing the wire both in size and how the wire is installed for a legal installation. Sorry I don’t have more for you.

    The only thing is that the built-in hanger will not work since is too close to the wall.
    i made the same mistake myself and had to move the charger.

      Yeah. Would have been nice to have more space. This is the only spot that makes sense for me to mount the charger. I just wrap it around and it works fine. It was more important to have it near the garage door so that I can reach into the driveway. Thanks for watching.

    I was told you need a 60 amp breaker????

    • @HawaiiDetailing
      @HawaiiDetailing  2 роки тому

      Some Teslas have larger breaker requirements. Mine does not. Look on the Tesla website for the correct size that your car can benefit from. Thanks for watching

      Not sure what you are asking but yea they are both 110v each so there is no difference between them.

    You used 6/3 that is rated for 60 amps. Why you only put 40 amps breaker instead of 60amps. 60amps is way faster charging than 40amps

    • @HawaiiDetailing
      @HawaiiDetailing  3 роки тому

      The model 3 standard range plus can not utilize the 60 amp charge. It only chargers at 32 amps due to the onboard charger in the car.

    You placed the charger right next to a water hose.
    That water hose at what ever point can splatter water all over and on the charging unit.
    Oops, Fire Hazard. Yeah, not the best place for it !!!!

      It’s an outdoor rated charger. If there was a water leak I would be more worried about everything else in my garage getting ruined before the charger. Thanks for watching
