I used it as an MP3, player and end up loving it because there are apps that allow you to straight download and play UA-cam videos without format convertion and music even with screen off unlike Android and IOS, I do really love this phone, even when my kids losted it. I will definitely buy another one!!

I've actually had this phone for 3 months now. I think this phone is probably the best phone I've had. It always works fast, the camera is great, very loud speaker goes up to 30, and has the colorful plastic cases that he showed. But there's one thing that I don't like about it. There are absolutley no cases for the 520. The only option of cases you can use are cases for the 521, but it still kinda fits. Just a tiny bit bigger. But other than that this phone is incredible :) ** This is just my opinion. I'm not saying that this is the best phone on the planet or anything. Or that you should get it because of any of the stuff I put. I'm just putting up my own review of the phone**
My 520 sat in the drawer for 3 years. Meanwhile, my newer 735 got filled with water in my rain jacket - shame design, water got into the headphone jack hole. So guess what ? I pulled the 520 from the drawer, swapped the sim card and here we go. Just love this small phone, perfect small size, touch screen is more precise than the 735, I feel it's easier to use than the 735, not to mention it has physical 'home' and back buttons and even camera button, the speaker and call quality are great for such phone. Oh, and it has WINDOWS 8 ! The windows 10 in the 735 was such a garbage, I'm so glad to go back to 8. For much better pictures, use the ProShot app ($4). Only 'downside' is there is no front camera.
I am using Lumia 520 for 7 months now, and I love everything about this little guy! Because I am an android user (still using android with my nexus 7), the lack of apps does get me worried a little bit during my early stage of using WP. But now its hardly an issue at all. I do agree WP still far to be called a perfect OS for smartphone, but its perfect for me. And as a consumer, I am happy that Microsoft is stepping up their game. Cant wait for WP 8.1 update!

This is a big week for me. It's my first week on a Nokia phone, my first week on a windows phone, my first week on a phone with a screen bigger than 2 inches, and my first week on a phone with more than 4GB of memory. Honestly, I'm pleased with it. It's pretty smooth and non-laggy. I have an Android tablet with similar internal specs but it gets laggy. Best part is I got this phone brand new for under $60.

Apps which are free on android or ios phones r paid. All the good games r paid like angry birds or are not there on app store. Although camera apps are really good. 4. No log manager. 5. Cant send multiple files via Bluetooth. 6. In many apps the select all option is unavailabel so u hav to select one file at atime to perform any action, So I suggest if u r looking for these things In ur phone the Lumia 520 is a complete waste of money (but the hardware is really good the touch, camera n all) u should go for some Samsung android phone with that much budget its far better than 520.

Not great... Considering it isn't as much as a powerhorse as the top league smartphones, it's disappointing that it's battery runs out just about as quickly, so daily charging is needed. It's not helpful that the phone mildly vibrates every time you press the back or menu button, which can't be turned off. I'm sure that pointless addition drains some battery. Great value for money thought, especially when you find a good deal on it.
But can you tell me how many hours does the battery lasts? as long as the battery resist a normal day,its all right for me. There should be a way to turn off the annoying vibration somehow...
XxxChrisTheBestxxX With the Amber update, it should easily last a day. If you turn off all the whistle and bells, battery should not be a problem. Also, vibration can be turned off
if you're on about slight black "dots", that you really can only see when a light or direct sunlight is shining on the phone, then that's the Proximity Sensor
I've had this phone for over two years. If you're expecting the whole smartphone experience, then stay away from this. There is no UA-cam app. Let that sink in. Or snapchat. You are much better off getting a budget Android, believe me. Also, RAM limitations are crushing. Phone is very, very slow, and can't even run certain apps. There is no flash on the camera, the Xbox music app simply gave up the ghost on me, altogether I truly regret not buying a Sony for the same price.

I received mine today, so far works perfectly :P I don't care about front camera or flash all I need is a phone that can do almost all of the work other phones (Samsung, iphonee tc) do and this phone does all of them. Remember one thing, It is a bit hard to see the screen when there is strong sunlight as the screen is very reflective.

I had this phone and it is trash. it's so bad. the app store is trash and there is not a front camera lol. the battery is horrible. I then got am HTC smartphone but I broke than and now I have a nexus 5x

I'm on the last leg of 2G flip-phone. This would be my very 1st smartphone and like you, I think I'll tolerate the lack of a flash. But it burns me to the bone that Nokia made "THIS" phone without a flash. I'm not a big cell phone user so the "pre-paid" aspect is perfect for me. I can buy $100 worth of phone time and not worry about refilling for a full year. And to think, I've been waiting a long time for a smartphone like this. My flip-phone is breaking down at the right time.
Honestly, these Windows Phones are such a pleasure to use and navigate compared to Android and iPhone. It's just so much smoother and the way it transitions between menus and apps never gets old. I just bought a Lumia 520 a few days ago, and so far I am enjoying it. Windows Phone 8 is a refreshing experience, coming from Android 3.#(I had forgot). Getting use to it, I like my new phone, and the added camera button is nice. It runs smooth, as well, and so far of me buying it, hadn't had any problems. I have not used the Optimus L5, so I can't vouch for it. But, I do recommend the Lumia 520.
My Nokia Lumia 520 has a problem, and others seem to have the same problem as me. Internet only works when on wifi, but when it's not, it just refuses to work. Why does that happen?

yes both : it has wallpaper function in lockscreen and there are apps also to build up a Screenpaper by splitting up the Pictures into tiles. Go to Nokia conversations and have a look around, there are several user-csutomized own Screens uploaded, pretty fancy what you can do when you Play around with the compilations/tiles.
when pressing It should have 2 "clicks" before taking pictures, if it feels not as crisp as you think, contact retailer immediately, had mine replaced because of the weak feel of the dedicated shutter key.

i have this phone, i got it on sale for $75. Its pretty nice. i love how i can access all the files from my windows computer. also there is an app were you can control your computer from the phone. they only draw backs are that it doesn't have a front camera and doesn't have as many apps as apple but just enough to be satisfied. Great budget phone. also i have dropped it several times and no scratches or cracks :D
About the music Can I add more categories in the music player??? My only options are just the type, my songs, artist, album and my playlists or not???? I like to inform my songs so whenever I download a new song I like to add any information I can find. For example year, composer, lyricist, subtitle, lyrics, genre etc. So can I add the year, the lyricist or something else as a new category or not????
It dependes... but they both target the same audience and have the same price level. So, in theory, it's a question of preference between Windows Phone and Android. The good news on behalf of the Lumia 520 is that it will receive the Windows Phone 8.1 upgrade

I'm very satisfied with this phone. it has some downsides but in ratio money/quality it is the best phone you can get on the market. android users that decide to switch to win8 (like myself) would have some minor problems to get used to different OS.

real nokias from nokia era (such as the 520) were much tougher

I had this phone and it is trash. it's so bad. the app store is trash and there is not a front camera lol. the battery is horrible. I then got am HTC smartphone but I broke than and now I have a nexus 5x

who the phoque cares about front cameras? the battery held for ages (at least 2-3 days on average). The store is not trash, it's long dead and closed.
I have used this phone for about 2 month... for the price it is absolutely flipping amazing.. I used to use an HTC sensation and this phone blows it WAY awaaay. The battery life on this phone is veeeerrryy good and never have I experienced any lag.. at least for right now..

I'm on the last leg of 2G flip-phone. This would be my very 1st smartphone and like you, I think I'll tolerate the lack of a flash. But it burns me to the bone that Nokia made "THIS" phone without a flash.
I'm not a big cell phone user so the "pre-paid" aspect is perfect for me. I can buy $100 worth of phone time and not worry about refilling for a full year.
And to think, I've been waiting a long time for a smartphone like this. My flip-phone is breaking down at the right time.
Honestly, these Windows Phones are such a pleasure to use and navigate compared to Android and iPhone. It's just so much smoother and the way it transitions between menus and apps never gets old. I'm buying one tomorrow. I didn't even think of these phones until I tried one. If you're thinking about it or curious, pick one up and see for yourself.

I just bought a Lumia 520 a few days ago, and so far I am enjoying it. Windows Phone 8 is a refreshing experience, coming from Android 3.#(I had forgot). Getting use to it, I like my new phone, and the added camera button is nice. It runs smooth, as well, and so far of me buying it, hadn't had any problems. I have not used the Optimus L5, so I can't vouch for it. But, I do recommend the Lumia 520.

My Nokia Lumia 520 has a problem, and others seem to have the same problem as me. Internet only works when on wifi, but when it's not, it just refuses to work. Why does that happen?

No, I had this phone and it didn't have a flashlight or a secondary camera.
And yes, it did have a standard 3.5mm audio headphone jack.

Im considering getting this phone, i havent had a chance to have a hands on play with a windows 8 phone but do they have like a home screen/wallpapers like android or is it all in the start menu? looking to change sick of android durping out and sick of subpar build quality been through 3 "budget" android phones in a year

yes both : it has wallpaper function in lockscreen and there are apps also to build up a Screenpaper by splitting up the Pictures into tiles. Go to Nokia conversations and have a look around, there are several user-csutomized own Screens uploaded, pretty fancy what you can do when you Play around with the compilations/tiles.
when pressing It should have 2 "clicks" before taking pictures, if it feels not as crisp as you think, contact retailer immediately, had mine replaced because of the weak feel of the dedicated shutter key.

i have this phone, i got it on sale for $75. Its pretty nice. i love how i can access all the files from my windows computer. also there is an app were you can control your computer from the phone. they only draw backs are that it doesn't have a front camera and doesn't have as many apps as apple but just enough to be satisfied. Great budget phone. also i have dropped it several times and no scratches or cracks :D

My only options are just the type, my songs, artist, album and my playlists or not????
I like to inform my songs so whenever I download a new song I like to add any information I can find. For example year, composer, lyricist, subtitle, lyrics, genre etc.

It dependes... but they both target the same audience and have the same price level. So, in theory, it's a question of preference between Windows Phone and Android. The good news on behalf of the Lumia 520 is that it will receive the Windows Phone 8.1 upgrade

I'm very satisfied with this phone. it has some downsides but in ratio money/quality it is the best phone you can get on the market. android users that decide to switch to win8 (like myself) would have some minor problems to get used to different OS.
