I have been on youtube searching for this exact technique for a good couple of years, but never came across anything like this, I use 3 to 4 different smashing techniques, but nothing seems to work for me. Thanks coach I'm gonna use it today.
@ Hey coach quick update, I used your technique and the entire time stayed focused to lift my elbow up rather than pulling the hand down and guess what... all of my smashes were like nuclear bombs and the angles were also steep. Everyone got shocked. Thanks coach
I totally agree with that ; for me it's a sign people use too much their arm extension going from a very low angle of the elbow to full extension. For me, your elbow angle should never be under like 45°, but maybe that's just me.
This is just something one needs to do lots of repetition just to remind oneself of using elbow first and not allow that elbow angle to go too low. Hence when you feel your racket touching your back, its a sign that you are dropping the racket too much
ahhh right, this is where you think less on power, and more about getting shuttles early. Either just a Block, or a quick stick smash. Big swings would be soo slow.

oh wow congratulation and wish you the very best. In NZ, only a small number of coaches are doing BWF Level 3 this year, and they had to go to australia to do it. Would love to learn more from you if you are keen to say hello :)

I tried your elbow rotation idea, it was a revelation! Now I feel more power with less movement, but need to build consistency when under pressure.
oh yeah, im glad. You do realise its not my idea hehehe It has been around for donkey years, we just dont do it.

Great explanation, I was trying by dropping racket but it made the whole swing unstable
For backswing, so important to have a relaxing hand and things will feel much better
Thanks Coach. Going into the racket drop, is the wrist extending? I've heard this called "cocking" of the wrist. Is that something you teach?
Thats one way of putting it, cocking the wrist. I call it strong wrist vs weak wrist

maybe you can do a video on reaching a clear when pressured from the mid-court, especially if the shot is slightly flat.
