- The 2014 Richard Tucker Award winner, tenor Michael Fabiano, performing Corrado‘s aria and cabaletta, Tutto parea sorridere...Si! de Corsari il fulmine, from Verdi’s Il Corsaro, at the 2014 Richard Tucker Gala concert in Avery Fisher Hall, Sunday, October 12th.
I have just seen him in Melbourne, and he is the real thing, a true Verdi singer.
He has an AWESOME TECHNIQUE..I Absolutely love it.. What a breath of fresh air to see old school Tenors coming back..❤👏🙌
you nailed it with this comment
I first heard Michael Fabiano when he was just 22 and I knew immediately that greatness was his destiny. Bravo Michael.
I've been attending opera for 45 years in great houses from New York to San Francisco, and I've never heard an Italian tenor with such a combination of skills. I've seen him live 12 times now, and he always moves me to my soul with the beauty and passion of his singing and acting. He is one for the ages.
...and those cheekbones!
It is critical that we judge singers in live performance in house. There are so many variables and potential manipulations in a recording or a film. I've heard two baritones in concert in recent times-Gerald Finley and Christopher Maltman-and the person to person experience is radically different to recordings of various sorts. In the hall these voices where outstanding in there fluency. beauty and a thousand more adjectives. No comparison.
You are right!
just saw him in Sydney Oper House in Werther tonight.........incredible!
@@cavortionist What About the Cheekbones?
I just watched and listened to this again. At the end, having listened to his unmatched Verdi singing, the colours, the commitment his Callas-like dramatic gestures, his eyes - OMG HIS EYES, derived totally from the music libretto and his G-d given artistry, literally I STOOD AND CHEERED - BRAVO! Go find another!
Truly, an incredible voice...we are extremely lucky to hear this!
Bravo!!!
I heard Michael Fabiano for the first time yesterday and was really moved by his singing , he has a true Tenor voice with a refined quality of tone throughout his range with ringing top notes , but what impresses me most is his evenness of rhythm , continuous fluidity of sound , really beautiful intelligent singing !!!
I agree with you
I notice that a telltale sign of someone who is singing beyond their natural capabilities is that they cannot sing legato. You might be impressed by a large full sound, but if they don't sing legato, something is wrong vocally.
This is the first time I hear Michael Fabiano. He is, and will forever be, a great tenor of his generation. Its so exciting to experience quality opera singers. His diction is amazing.
I've listened to your voice for the first time... Wonderful, Bravo!
Beautiful voice, real tessiture of tenor, in Tosca he is fabulous, outstanding singer✨🌺🎶
In 20 years of judging young singers in a vocal competition in New York I can state that Michael Fabiano is one of the greatest talents I have heard. It was apparent at the beginning that this was someone unique.
In Vienna as Cavaradossi in Tosca he was good but not outstanding. A good regular tenor among a lot of others.
Even at 22, at his Met auditions, he was the most interesting singer of the bunch. He was all about saying something rather than just producing great sounds.
finally a great italian tenor!
He's not italian but he's good
No doubt that this is THE voice in today's tenor ranks. Rich colour in the middle, squillo for days and high notes to take the roof off. Amazing!
Dear sir
Fear is not something I struggle with. True, many singers face issues of fright or difficulty to deliver. I'm fortunate to not have that bone. All singers have there obstacles and their glories ... my glory is being able to get out there and do whatever it is in me to deliver for YOU and yoir friends in the best way possible. I owe it to you since it's you who love opera and seek it out as often as you do. No one is perfect and I certainly won't claim to be a herald of the best. What I can claim is that I go out there and deliver because it's what I love to do and I do it for you.
I appreciate yoir comments and your opinions and know that us singers note what our fans friends and not-so-fans think bc we desire to do our best for you
Kindest regards
Michael
Michael Fabiano, eloquently stated... best wishes for your career.
Well, MrCafiero, you have to hear singers live to get a true impression. And, having heard him in the house on a number of occasions, I can tell you he is the real thing. His singing is in a direct line of that great tradition which stretches back to the early 20th Century.
Awesome! Incredible tenor.
Yes!!!!! The most incredible tenor I’ve ever heard!
You're best!! Bravissimo!!
The most interesting Tenor voice today. A warm, sensuous Carreras' like timbre with an easy top. What more can you ask
He sounds great anywhere!
Thats exactly my opinion, but he also remembers me of Corelli ,not because of his timbre but because if his heart and passion .You have to listen to his Don Jose in Arles regie Dimitri Tschernjakow ,Pablo -Heras Casado.
and that's a top singer today.......
I'm here because I read a recent interview with him in an Opera magazine. He talked about his "high level God given gift" and his famous teacher telling him he had a voice like no one had ever had. So I wanted to hear for myself if he's as gifted as he thinks he is.
And what's your verdict? Is he? Speaking for myself, I think he's the finest lirico/lirico spinto in the world today, the best since Shicoff. And, given his relatively young age, he has plenty of room to become even greater.
He is an amazing singer and such a humble and grateful person as a whole.
ESPECTACULAR !!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to see him in Hoffman! I hope he does the role again!
Bravo!!!!!!!!
bravo dear MICHAEL. I LOVE.
Bravo!!! Great!!!
Un tenor honrado y cumplidor.
i always said that Fabiano was the Corelli of our time and now i can ratify that saying. te tecnique is flawless and te power of the Voice!!! he should sing more st the Met that the other guy, Costello. not all is about the looks! let put good voices sck in the theaters
Certainly an accomplished young voice.....However, to start by predicting greatness is a shaky proposition. It has been said that a great voice is that once heard it is instantly recognizable the next time "his/her" voice is heard again as "his/hers".....Wunderlich, Pavarotti, Melchior, Ramey, Moffo.....I don't believe that such is this voice's quality at this time....But certainly a "clean" sound....So, bravo.
What is worrying today is the popularity of opera around the world , the demands made on young voices to sing heavier roles than they are ready for , that they risk ruining their voice too early in their career . i hope that this young man can control what he sing and how often he performs .
MARAVILLOSO!!
Very good job.
Really really the Best
Big Fan of Michael Fabiano - WOW!
BRAVO MICHAEL !!!!!!!!
Sergey- So wonderful to know you appreciate Fabiano’s voice. Because YOU and Michael Fabiano are among my very very very favorite tenors.
@@pryan5183 Amen!
sencillamente extraordinario!! me conmovio!!
Excelente.
I agree!
Bravissimo.
Bravo Michael.
Tucker is spinning fast in his coffin.
Good job!!
GREAT!!!!!
He is more impressive here than on his new cd.
indeed

molt bo
Overstressed voice - like José Carreras who chose the parts he would like to sing, and his technics so had to follow if it could - and it couldn't!
sound of 1848
The Orchestra? From the Met?
I'm afraid I don't remember. The Tucker Gala orchestra may be a pickup orchestra; not sure.
@@chriggsiii Thx👍
Please tell me what is all the fuss about with Fabiano? He strains to get his top notes, singing roles that are far too heavy for him and not that pleasant a tone. Listen to Bergonzi to hear how this aria should be sung.
I would agree with you regarding his singing too heavy roles , but he is a true tenor with a clear tone and easy top notes , but in an aria such as this he is pushing it . I have been a great fan of Bergonzi , but he was a baritone at the beginning of his career , so you would expect a more robust sound as would be required in this role .
A nice well trained voice. However I agree with previous comments that the top notes are strained and maybe he is pushing his voice into roles too heavy for it to sustain a long career. Hopefully concert performance like this do not reflect the live opera roles he focuses on
I think you are correct. I am not sure this is due to an uncongenial repertory but some unsolved technical issues.
E cale lunga pe Jose Carreras sa-l ajunga
This tenor is good for bel canto arias, but not for dramatic ones. He needs more voice and dramatism to sing Il Corsaro. He should see José Cura.
Michael must be careful, or he will end up like Carreras.
vocalità poco adatta à questo personaggio .
Opera has died.
+MrCafiero Uh-huh.
+MrCafiero Why do you say that?
Roberto Jonas This type of singing is not opera quality; the quality that was established by the originals, many of whom worked with the composers. These types of singers would never have been acceptable. Correlli spoke about how inadequate voice were when he was alive. Tebaldi said the same; "all we have are tiny mosquitoes flying around." Listen to the greats of the past who established what opera is and the vocal standards that were set that made it opera. Listen to Tebaldi, Gigli, Caruso, Di Stefano, Ponselle, Ruffo, Merrill, Corelli, Del Monaco, Maipiero, Massini, Scipa, Völker, Thill, Wunderlich, my teacher's student Jerry Hadley - arguably the greatest American tenor. Look up him singing En fermant les yeux - Manon. These singers are on a lever that the singers now can't even touch. They are the standard.
+MrCafiero This is true, on the other hand Melba, Destinn and Russ probably said the same about singers you mentioned, and I am pretty sure Rubini and Pasta complained about singers that came after them.
Perhaps, but you don't really know that. And the things that are wrong with voices now are quantifiable. They are not opinion based.
Nasal
Pity is too nasal
Higher and high notes are extreamely unfocused. He does not use his vocal chords properly!
I don't understand how this tragic tenor can sing at the Met, except because he belongs to a known lobby
That's baloney. Homophobic crap. Fabiano has one of the most beautiful tenor voices of our generation. He deserves every bit of his fame and recognition. I regret that you can't hear beyond your prejudice and bigotry.
@@chriggsiii OK. I get your ears don't work so good, but your mind is not picnic either
@@konradottingen7187 Hey, you're the one who brought up "known lobby," not me.
