The first time I heard Carreras sing this was on a vinyl recording of Verdi and Donizetti arias. That wonderfully visceral low "F" at the end of the cabaletta gave me chills. It is that part of his voice that for me, has always made him stand out among other tenors. I have been blown away by the high notes of many a tenor; but only Carreras and Frank Lopardo consistently excite me in the lower registers.

Aquí tenemos en verdad una apreciación un poco injusta. Carreras en esta versión es ya un profesional cuajado para enfrentar algunas arias, muchas fuera de su repertorio por cierto pero eso es otra discusión, en cambio en Operalia estamos ante jóvenes cantantes , muchos de ellos ni siquiera pasando los 25 años, que son muy buenos y que seguro tendrán como ejemplo a José Carreras para corregir errores.
