I got my Miyoo mini plus from amazon and loving it. Even though I have the Anbernic RG351MP I tend to enjoy playing the MM+ more due to its upright positioning and lighter plastic vs metal. I used MiniUI/DotUI until Onion OS 4.2 came out. Been using onion but waiting for this video so I could properly make adjustments. Love your work!
i use my regular mini over the 351P because it's so small, i just keep it in my purse, though i'll bring the 351p places if i'm traveling or whatever, for day to day use and line-waiting, i use the mini all the time

My miyoo mini plus arrived today and i love it. I made a backup of all the preloaded stuff for posterity, but then massively reduced the rom list to my curated retroachievements compatible library. This video came at the perfect time! I got my Miyoo Mini+ in the mail the day this came out. Now it's the next day and I'm ready to install OnionOS on it. I'm already really enjoying it and I'm ready to enjoy it more :) this is my first one of these handheld emulation consoles and it's honestly really neat and I'm happy I got it!
Love the videos. You are my go to for anything technical. One trouble shoot I had to dig to figure out was that your games wouldn’t autosave/auto load out of the gate. You have to go into retroarch and turn off hardcore mode in achievements. Works beautifully now. Thanks for the video!

Just recently came across this channel and have to say I am super impressed by your tutorial videos. They are so easy to successfully follow from start to finish. I am kinda obsessed with my RG35XX at the moment (picking it over my Steam Deck most days out of ease of use for quick burst sessions) and set that up using your guide. Looking forward to receiving my Miyoo Mini + and getting Onion onto it, although it has its work cut out for it if it’s going to contend with Garlic OS which on the latest version, I’ve found to be absolutely fantastic. Turns out it isn't simply as "power on and play" as I thought. I went down the miyoo rabbit hole and got overwhelmed and lost from rooting through reddit, and I really wanted to make sure that I at least get the set up right. I read through so many posts, the official/non tutorials, and other yt vids, but yours is the best at explaining everything crystal clear to me and now I feel much less intimidated. Hyped to re-experience my childhood :> this community is awesome!

I have a custom firmware switch that I put together after getting my OLED but it wasn’t hitting right for Gameboy games. Great to see that OnionOS supports for Miyoo Mini Plus. I have been using a customized build of MiniUI and I am happy with it on my Miyoo Mini Plus. I will try the new OnionOS version when I have time in the future ;).
Very helpful. I bought a Miyoo Mini v2 last year, and my son liked it so much he asked for one for his birthday (18 years old today!). I was surprised that there was now a Mini+, which is what I got him. This was super useful. First thing I did was to try to backup the files in the Miyoo card, and somehow all the files in the card went poof, gone. But I still could install onion os and found the "Tiny best set go"collection online with solved my problems with the missing files. Also in retrospect I wish I had bought the Miyoo mini plus with the smallest sd card option possible, since the card is not usable at all.
I'm surprised that I hadn't subbed yet. Thankyou for an update video from the ground up once again. The review of how to use the menu button is solid. There has been so much more confusion of that over the stock Miyoo Firmware. I didn't get audio or get to play 'any' PS game on my stock OS, but Onion made that possible. Thanks for your guides RGC

If anyone is having troubles updating the console firmware like me you have to use a 32/64Gb microsd! If you are using a 128gb card is not going to update but only charging when plugged via USB

i heeded youtubers warning with the miyoo's included sd card failing and ordered one with the miyoo (it got delayed but not the miyoo) and the stock card lasted 1 day before getting corrupted ! ahaha waiting for new SD card and going to follow these steps for onion, thank you sir. i subscribed other day during order process, you rock.

If anyone is having trouble upgrading the MM+'s stock firmware, you might want to a try a different (or smaller) micro SD card! My MM+ would go directly into charging, instead of the firmware upgrade path, and switching micro SD cards did the trick.
In my case my sp 256sd card didnt work and i couldnt find any smaller sd cards handy i switched to 400gb sandisk and ran it through guiformat like in the video and that worked. Thanks a lot !!!!!

I love how Miyoo were nice enough to ship my device with a faulty USB SDCard Reader that crashes every 30 seconds. Makes this entire process so easy! 👍🏻
Amazing video! If you do a part 2 on that, please cover the FTP server! It's really good to send new games and cover art to your console without needing to shut down, remove your SD card, connect to the PC and move everything.
Yes it was hard to find a FTP server which work well on it :) You should also test the http server : it's awesome. I use it to edit scripts for Onion. Imagine that we have done Onion on the first Mini by removing sd card for each test (my first SD card is now very thin due to wear !
@@SchmurtzAlex I'll try this right away, I only tested FTP because I was tinkering with Filezilla a few days ago and decided to test against MM+. Also, thank you so much for all the effort on sacrificing your SD cards to make this a out of the park solution - I wish I knew more about C to work alongside your crew on that. (I'm more of a C# person, but who knows in the near future haha) But I promise you I'm always looking and checking all the specific changes that you're all doing for everything on OnionOS to work as good as possible on MM+!
Love the miyoo. I have a retroid pocket 3 plus but when I travel I only take the miyoo and play it much more. Just something about vertical gaming and being so portable makes it a win.
Even though I have a Nintendo 3ds, I prefer the Miyoo mini plus with Onion. While I love playing games on my pc, I am a retro gamer at heart. And this is just great for portability and travel. Excellent work.

I think what puts the Milo Mini Plus over the Anbernic RG35XX is solely the OS. It's just heaps better. That and built in WiFi. Great content as always.

I just installed the beta yesterday and now here's this video to help me make the most of it! Much appreciated. Question: How would I go about changing the core for an entire system rather than game by game? I installed an alternate SNES core via the package manager, but I'm not sure how to get a games list associated with that core instead of the default.

I had to download the guiformat to do it. I had a 64 gigabyte card, he gives a great tutorial

Amazing video! If you do a part 2 on that, please cover the FTP server! It's really good to send new games and cover art to your console without needing to shut down, remove your SD card, connect to the PC and move everything.

@@x.SE7EN.x314 yep! If you activate the FTP Server app, you can open a connection between your PC and the device to send games and stuff.
Yes it was hard to find a FTP server which work well on it :) You should also test the http server : it's awesome. I use it to edit scripts for Onion.
Imagine that we have done Onion on the first Mini by removing sd card for each test (my first SD card is now very thin due to wear !
@@SchmurtzAlex I'll try this right away, I only tested FTP because I was tinkering with Filezilla a few days ago and decided to test against MM+.
Also, thank you so much for all the effort on sacrificing your SD cards to make this a out of the park solution - I wish I knew more about C to work alongside your crew on that. (I'm more of a C# person, but who knows in the near future haha)
But I promise you I'm always looking and checking all the specific changes that you're all doing for everything on OnionOS to work as good as possible on MM+!

Love the miyoo. I have a retroid pocket 3 plus but when I travel I only take the miyoo and play it much more. Just something about vertical gaming and being so portable makes it a win.

Even though I have a Nintendo 3ds, I prefer the Miyoo mini plus with Onion. While I love playing games on my pc, I am a retro gamer at heart. And this is just great for portability and travel. Excellent work.

I think what puts the Milo Mini Plus over the Anbernic RG35XX is solely the OS. It's just heaps better. That and built in WiFi. Great content as always.

Could not find out why save states were not working properly. Retroarch should not enable that mode by default with such a big issue.

I just installed the beta yesterday and now here's this video to help me make the most of it! Much appreciated. Question: How would I go about changing the core for an entire system rather than game by game? I installed an alternate SNES core via the package manager, but I'm not sure how to get a games list associated with that core instead of the default.
You can go into the emulator folder on the sd card then choose the system then edit launch file
You can go into retroarch and choose core for the whole system there.
Retro achievements really made my rg351v feel amazing.
