Just bought this for myself as well! IMO this is the best Bond collection out of all of em. I love the book bound holder with all the discs and the artwork with each actor and the love interests. The most latest collection is very bland, the covers are just white and there's no artwork, that's why I went with this one. Thanks for the video!
8K when it's invented. Bond 25 will no doubt be the first 4K and mabybe 3D Blu-ray release, alongside the usual DVD & Blu-ray rel;eases (hopefully plus steelbook/s)
I say steelbooks because I'd rather there was one for the 2D release and one for the 3D one. 4K may also get them in the future. I know DVDs used to, but not any more
The special edition DVDs are still some of the best DVD menus ever created. I am not a big fan of the Ultimate Edition versions. Also, Licence to Kill was released uncut for the first time on the UEs :)
My boxset came with a Skyfall disc. Unfortunately it was after we already got Skyfall separate so we have two copies, but hey you can never get enough Skyfall
I talk about the films in almost every single UA-cam video I've made. This video was to just cover the Bond 50 set, so special features, picture quality and such. If I went into reviews of each film I'd only be repeating myself and covering 22 Bond films in one video would be rather exhaustive!
Thanks for watching! The menus are just like the Ultimate editions in that they're the same designs but they're more seamless. So there's not really any transitions between sections. Hope that makes sense!
What’s your opinion on the white 24 dvd Bond collection? Is it better than the James Bond ultimate edition dvd’s? And is there any difference between the extra’s?
You got an amazing Bond collection . I got into Bond in 1995 . I saw Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solice, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die in the movie Theatres .
Totally agree about the extras on the first issue DVDs they were as enjoyable as the films themselves. They make you see the films through fresh eyes and give so much insight into how the films were made. Please consider reviewing the extras I think you'd make that very enjoyable for the subscribers.
would you say the two disc ultimate editions were the best collection? i mean they werent blu-ray but they were digitally remastered and stacked to the brim with special features!
They were great but the remastering was occasionally dodgy like the horrible orange tint on the Live And Let Die titles or Thunderball's modern coloration. On Her Majesty's Secret Service suffered the worst with the altered score and incorrect tinting.
MCook9 We here in the USA however were screwed over in that the movies were put in the wrong order starting with goldfinger with dr.no not even being in the first box
A nice overview. To tell you honestly, when I came around to being a Bond fan, the special editions had already been released, so I started from there. But I also have the ultimate editions, and Blu-ray set as well. And even though the newer ones may not have that many new special features, the packaging and the style still make them look really good on the shelf of my home theater, so I am still in love with them.
Great review :) Dunno about getting the whole thing though, there's only a handful I think are worth getting for the better quality, still, you never know. I loved the VHS's too - I always loved how misleading and dramatic the FRWL VHS cover was.. They all had that amazing compilation trailer at the start too :D
Hey Calvin, I prefer watching the James bond films on special edition DVD when it comes to special features. When it comes to high quality pcitures, I go for ultimate edition dvd. P.s. the spikes are definitely plants. Mainly I go for special edition dvd.
@Rowan Charlton I got the HMV exclusive set too! the art cards are very nice. Going to get a big ass frame and make a collage out of them. I always struggle with which Bond poster(s) to have on my wall... Now I can have them all!
I got the Bond collection for this Christmas that just came, I was so glad I personally could careless about the special features what I wanted was the films and the most outstanding thing is the way it looks. Connery's films were surprisingly amazing.
If the amount you care is absolute zero (0) you couldn't care less. If you could care less (which is what you said) you must care a bit. To say "I couldn;t care less" means you're care the absolute minimum possible amount which is not at all. To say "I could care less" is to say you care.
Zen Razor Late reply inbound. You said you could care less, which means it is above zero on your scale of caring. When someone says they could not care care less, it means they give 0 fucks. tltr. Could care less != could not care less. Just reread your comment to see what he was saying.
What’s your opinion on the white 24 dvd bond collection? Is it better than the ultimate edition dvd ‘s? And is there any difference considering the extra ‘s?
"I'll buy you a delicatessen in stainless steel!" Just fucking peculiar. I feel like this line was originally written in a foreign language and something got last in translation.
I am considering getting the Blu-Ray box set as a Christmas present for myself. Do you know if any improvements have been made to the box set since the 50th addition? It has been reissued for 2015.3:36 I have always seen ththe head butting scene and never known it to be cut? My VHS, taped from television in 1996 - as we used to do then - nothing cut?
I remember those bond videos so vividly! So much so that i STILL havent got round to getting them all on DVD even ever since! But if you may remember the entire bond series was shown back to back on ITV for the very first time in mid 1999. Goldeneye was premeierd first in early 1999 (first time i ever saw a bond film), then the series of Dr no to Licence to kill shown later that year and shortly after Tomorrow never dies premiered on ITV as well...ah nerdy facts and old tv schedules :)
Great video calvin as always love the way you explained about your past and your love with all your movies love that your're a great bond fan keep up the good work calvin love your videos man :)
i know what you mean, collecting is fun as hell, i had all the bond movies on vhs aswell, but im affraid i lost them by now, thanks for showing us your cool stuff
I'm a big Bond fan. Have all of the books, the DVDs, CDs--- but I was always happy with my DVDs. But now, today I have grown an interest with this boxset and might just pop down to HMV to get the exclusive edition with the art cards
I found that MWTGoldenGun vhs cover creepy and way over the top when I was a kid, they changed it for the Special Edition dvd. I actually preferred that new photo shopped Roger Moore cover on the Octopussy SE dvd than what they’d previously used. Goldeneye was the other cover they changed for the SE dvd. 3 changed in total, all the others were the same as the VHS.
I have them all on Ultimate Edition DVD, but I relented and got this Bluray set. It really is great. The films have never looked or sounded better. I won't need to rebuy them again for...hopefully a long time! :P I'm a Bond fanatic, like you, so I just had to have them all on Bluray
I didnt own the whole set so I ended up buying this. It's a really nice set, and I appreciated the honest review of what was missing, even if it didnt put me off. Gotta agree on that Goldeneye steelbook.......love that film and love a nice steelbook......
I'm not sure if i do want this set because i have the ultimate edition dvds ( i still need The Living Daylights, Licence To Kill, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day). I already have Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace, considering the way you have described the extras i may stick with the DVD's for now.
Calvin is probably not going to see this, but I wonder if he has itentions of eventually upgrating his Bond collection to an eventual 4K Blu-Ray Collection of all films, likely to come out either for the home video release of "No Time To Die" or the 60th anniversary of the series in 2022.
Mad to think 11 and a half years later this is the latest edition of the films on home release. Still waiting for the 4K release (Daniel Craig films aside).
I just bought that one.... And then realised that I bought the one without Spectre included 🤦♂️ so I have a Bond set that has an extra space for Spectre but if I buy Spectre then I'll have an empty case if I put it in the set... I wish I realised I was buying the one without Spectre..
Thanks For reviewing Bond 50 I Am thinking of buying it,One Question How Are The Menus For The Films Are they Interactive Or Just like the Ultimate edition?
if you look at the picture of Sean Connery on the VHS of Thunderball. like the collection on here. Oh my days. There is not a chance that that body is Sean's The head is huge & the hands are completely hairless.
I thought I was content with the Ultimate Edition DVD's and then I got a PS4 five years ago. Gotta admit, the blu-rays are a lot better. You actually see things in the movies that you never noticed before! :D
Thanks for reviewing this! Now I am really considering buying this, but I have one question! Does the uncut version of Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, License to Kill, etc. still exist on these blu-rays? Could be a big help if you answered!
In my opinion, I prefer having the Ultimate Edition DVD set and having Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace in their respective Blu-Ray releases. Even if the quality is fantastic, the lack of extras was a red flag, so I'm not going to get the Bond 50 Blu-Ray collection. I'll wait until they have the Ultimate Editions released on Blu-Ray, but I'm content with my current collection.
I love how you're browsing through the chapters in the boxset at 4:30, and all the girls are clearly possing, except the woman from Quantum, she looks like shes going "Uh, hate this party. Can't wait to leave."
I think I'll stick to my Ultimate James Bond DVD collection in the attache case. I quite like how that set ends with DAD. I own CR and QOS on blu-ray and will probably keep it that way so that the reboot is in a seperate collection. Thanks for the review. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on QOS
I totally agree with you. Happy that most of the dvd collection sfuff is still here, the movies look wooooooow but... all the animated menus are the same, no retrospective stuff on the brosnan era and... the bonus dvd is simply HORRIBLE and EMPTY OF ANYTHING INTERESTING. I live in the states I’ve always wanted this set but it was always so expensive ($150). Luckily the set that was released around the time of Spectre was a lot more affordable but damnit the 50 set is gorgeous
I hate the latest version one with Spectre because there's no artwork. It's just white and that's all. So dry and boring. The Bond 50 set is glorious in comparison with its book holder that has the discs and the artwork with each actor. Found myself one on eBay.
I just got the entire 60's bond movies on Blu-ray. I didn't get the Bond 50 boxset Cause I did not like the the whole sleeve thing about it. I got the regular cases instead as they are better, and it the same stuff on them any how.
Well, as of now - I own most of the Bond films on video (some were taped from that Bond marathon on ITV back in 1999 when I was 7 lol) some on Special Edition DVD, the first 20 Bond movies on Ultimate Edition DVD (which i gradually got ) and the Daniel Craig movies on DVD (including Skyfall). you can now watch it in 4K all movies online

I've been digging deep into all things BOND, which means digging deep into your UA-cam series. Can't get enough!

I have all the Ultimate Editions, plus a couple of the Special Editions. I also have the standalone DVD releases of all the Daniel Craig films.
some of the very best films
I think I'll stick to my Ultimate James Bond DVD collection in the attache case. I quite like how that set ends with DAD. Hey Calvin how's it going great video. I've got a question. How did the bond films on VHS
why is the Blu-ray version of Tomorrow Never Dies only a 12 and the Ultimate DVD was a 15? lol
I belive they reclassified the rating due to some rules being loosened up.
_Diamonds Are Forever_ from 2012 onwards also went up in rating from its previous PG to a 12, as some bits in the film were at that point in time no longer deemed by the BBFC to be appropriate at the lower category.
Calvin,How about you thing of a black James Bond?
We need a blu-ray collection with 23 individual boxes and the Bond50 image with all six actors across the spines.
I like all of the Blu-ray versions of Bond apart from GoldenEye because the picture looks too bright and the skin tones look too waxy compared to the Ultimate Edition, Despite the Ultimate Edition version being cropped it's still probably the best version out there until MGM do a new version on Blu-ray.
I agree completly
Check the TV picture settings.
Bond 50 was rereleased with Skyfall included which I grabbed for only $99 :D
At Least the bonus disc can be swapped withe the spectre dvd i guess...
I regret not buying the collection in the attache case... Got them all individually.
I have the Bond Blu-Ray collection that has three boxes and the space for Spectre. I think it is a re-shell of the one you review in this.
I have the same collection. I believe it is just a repackage. The discs are the same.
The bonus disc is a disappointment. I agree. Just cobbled together soundbites and old interviews. Other than that, though, the set is fantastic. The movies themselves look excellent. I am a total completist, so i ordered Never Say Never Again and Casino Royale (1967) on Blu ray as well, to complete the set. All 25 films. Maybe I'm a masochist. The Ultimate Edition DVDs I'll keep, for playing on my laptop.

Nice little reference to that odd joke in FYEL at 6:34.
Use the bonus disc as a coaster. Save the 24th slot for Never Say Never Again, or for the next Daniel Craig movie!

Bond geeks forever!
Might as well wait one more year for the 60th anniversary in 2022
That includes next years no time to die!
or does it?
the spike things are Agave plants if I am not mistaken.
I hope you're not mistaken because I definitely won't check on that.
burtha3:D I am not mistaken ;)
you welcome i trying to upload my unboxing but i been having problems uploading but it should be up and the best unboxing
I love the CBS FOX VIDEO and MGM VHS. It's sad they're all getting thrown away.
How much it costs?
Thank Jesus for Christmas!
The bonus disc does have all the title sequences without text.
No it doesn't.
Funny how Sophie Marceau is represented as the Bond girl for "The World is Not Enough" even though she's a villain, instead of Denise Richards.
Airjet2582 that’s because Denise Richards is a fucking embarrassment to the entire James Bond film series. She destroyed any credibility the film had.
You should do a ranking of all the Ms.
+Genuine Plastic Bernard Lee. And some others.
