Couldn’t help but start crying when Kendrick and Beyoncé got together and started killing it giving such amazing energy and emotion and then noticing for the first time the dancers laying down in the back (most likely) portraying black people being killed from police brutality. I am so grateful for the sacrifices those in the past made to give us the life we have but we have a ways to go unfortunately.
FUN FACT: This performance she was on the Formation tour and she had a day to put this surprised performance her and Kendrick just performed on her birthday to show together and she left to get back on the road for her show the next day so epic! You should react to her Tidal 6 inch & Haunted performance
This is far from the truth. The director, Glenn Weiss, was part of this surprise performance but this was actually months in the making. No artist can put on a production like this with the choreography and setup within days or weeks.
Sadly the muted part wasn't mic problems, it was censorship. The censored lyric was "Five-O askin' me what's in my possession", that refers to the police abuses and prejudices against black people. What's really weird is that it was performed in the BET Awards :/
Thank you, I'm so glad someone mentioned it! They most definitely censored him and it's disgusting. Don't know if you know, but BET is actually owned by white people, so...I guess it shouldn't surprise me that they don't want any anti-police rhetoric.
You have kindergarten teacher energy in the BEST WAY. Like a girl you meet drunk in a bathroom who tells you your eyeliner is smudged and helps you fix it.
YESSSSSS 🙌🏻 *This* specific performance is my favorite of Beyoncé’s! There is so much power in every movement, beat, lyric and her vocal work, as well as Kendrick’s fantastic contribution and how they work off each other. So glad you loved it!!
This whole performance is nod to black civil rights, the water is like from the song “wade through the water” when the slaves would try to escape. The body paint is tribal. Kendrick raps about black people dying at the hands of those in power.
Idk how they can miss it when the dang song starts off with an MLK speech!! Then add to that the lyrics … Beyoncé & Kendrick are both incredibly intentional
@@ambriaashley3383 They don't care to learn about our history in this country. For them it's all about the Civil War and those damn Dead Presidents. Oh yeah and The Monuments.
@@sheascott8818If you were expecting THIS specific reactor to attempt to discuss it or even care enough to then you'd be Wildly mistaken. ;) lol She's extremely ignorant on certain topics, harboring her own implicit biases. She's avoids touching those hot button topics like the plague.
Right Taylor studies Beyoncé and Beyoncé studies and has been inspired by the greats that came before her. But at this point she really has carved her own lane for herself and no longer needs to reference others. She has already solidified her GOAT status.
I said swifties compare, I don't compare white and black artists because they're nothing alike and black artists has harder struggles in the music industry. Michael Jackson and Beyonce had to work harder in a racist country to get where they were and are, Beyonce literally got told to take her black ass of the stage at the CMA's so I would never compare Taylor Swift to Beyonce 🙄
I feel like they mute the audience while the singer is singing and then when there are opportunities they show the audience reaction through audio. So maybe didn't happen anything at that specific moment.
Towards the end, the dancers are laying in the water, which symbolizes the many (as in far too many to count) stolen Africans who, either by choice or force, did not complete the journey of the Middle Passage (the journey of the enslaved from Africa to the Americas) and whose bodies/bones are at the bottom of the sea. It's a powerful performance with so many messages, and as a Black American, Freedom and every performance of it is a true homage to the trauma our people have experienced and our collective ability to keep existing and demanding (whether peaceably or forcibly) our right to live in a country that we helped build for free. The symbolism of the connection between water and Black people is a fascinating one; I would encourage you to look deeper into that, and I think you'd have an even greater appreciation for all the water motifs in the Lemonade film.
I loved the TTPD set and Id love to think my theater teacher Mrs. Capistrant and my music teacher Mr. Dietz are tickled pink with what Ive learned from them.
Would you react to Bigger, Otherside and Spirit from the album The Gift. I’d love for you to see the visuals as part of Black is King, but you really need to take the entire film in as a whole. Technically, the album too. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🐝🐝🐝
Kendrick Lamar is a very animated performer. He wasn't tweakin. He's very passionate about our people and music. That's just how he is. There was so much going on and this song was perfect for the BLM movement. Oppression, racism, social injustice and all that ties in with this song.
I strongly suggest that you react to her performance at her concert I AM... YOURS: AN INTIMATE PERFORMANCE AT WYNN LAS VEGAS. It was in 2009 but is a bit diffefent with her story telling. Loved it.
Hope you saw the TTPD set on eras tour. I hear its female rage the musical, I know Ive got an overactive imagination, but Id like to think you had something to do with it. If not they better get you on staff over there
Like your videos but always look if you ever do any Kelly Clarkson videos she is an awsome singer one of the best. I love her talk slow and at the beginning of her show she does what they call Kellyoke where she does a cover of another singer and lots of times she sounds better then the original singer.
I guess you’ll never understand the depths of emotion we feel when we hear this song…the audience is reacting to that, the struggle continues for us. Ma’am…I really don’t understand how you couldn’t understand what’s being interpreted here.
So you watch the whole video and then you ask what is this about so what you were doing is looking at the Slick dance moves and listening at the growls. And paying no attention to the lyrics. SMDH

perfectly said 👌🏽

I thought that or it’s representative for the slaves trying to escape and/or the slave ships
You ABSOLUTELY need to watch Kendrick’s part in the SuperBowl LVI (56) halftime show. HE KILLED IT!!!
Man this performance leaves me breathless everytime 😭 idk if I should cry, scream or go and jump on stage with them
Me too it brings me joy and energy

Two of my faves!!!! Beyoncé and Kendrick❤❤❤
Kendrick is the best performer ever 🖤
Can't believe we cut Kendrick's part 😢
She is not serious or respectful about Black culture beyond the most basic level.
Kendrick and Beyonce kicking water together, while she's signing and he's rapping.
Perfect.
Your memes usage always gets me. Yes cultured.
This is one of my favorite performances! The energy jumps through the screen! :-) Powerful!
This was in the middle of her formation tour she broke tour to go do this performance and it was amazing !
