You know of any other good alternatives to using a device that requires Wi-Fi? I have no access to internet service for my property so I need something that won't require internet
This is exactly what I've been looking for! I was just discussing this with my wife, saying ,"there just has to be a way of monitoring how much each electrical product we have is using. Especially in today's technological level we live in". Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
You had a Siemens panel it looked like. You installed a Square D Homeline breaker. You really will want to change those to match the brand of your electrical panel to be up to code and be in compliance. Good video. Jeff - Licensed Journeyman Electrician Sunny Central Florida 😎 🌴 ☀️
Any info on how it is working now? Has it identified a lot of devices? A lot of mixed reviews. I'm on the fence about getting one. I hear it can't identify items behind a UPS.
Yes, it continues to identify new devices every week. Once it identifies an item type you have to manually determine which item that is by doing some testing around your house while looking at your app but it has been about as simple as flipping a switch on and off in most cases. I check the app often for updates and make adjustments and I still enjoy using it and gauging my usage.
Thanks for the video. I was considering getting a Sense months ago but the reviews were mixed on its ability to identify what’s turned on. Have you had many unidentified/misidentified items? Any chance for a follow up video going into detail on how things show up and how they help you understand your usage?
Benji Benning it takes a lot to go through and identify each thing. I don’t go through and isolate each light for example. I’m focused more on the bigger items but you can pretty easily identify by switching things on and off.
MrFixItDIY Understood, thanks for the clarification. I think historically the complaint I read was that if it didn’t identify what an item was, you didn’t have an option to specify “this is an oven, this is a washer”. It sounds like that isn’t an issue any more, which makes it much more appealing.
I love the demo.. was easy to install but after 4 days it finally identified one item.. the insink insta hot . AC have been running several times a day and it still has not identified the AC system, dishwasher and everything else. They do say it can take weeks but really the big items should be almost instant
Have this monitor . After a year it still has not ID my AC system , vehicle charger and pool pumps . Crazy as they are on every day. It’s good at total usage but until they allow the user to ID items do not wast your money. There are other devices coming to market.
If you only want to know one specific device, yes. You can buy a voltage monitor that plugs into the outlet. Search "electricity usage monitor" and you should find a bunch of options.
Dank thank you sooo much... baught a house that uses so much power even though I "the user" thinks everything is off.... I will try it out and hopefully wont get fried trying
It's a product I actually like and chose to make a video out of because I think it'd be helpful for a lot of people. I wasn't paid to promote it. I just thought I'd spread some awareness of its existence and that I've personally benefitted from it. If you don't like it, don't watch it.
Since it learns based on more users having the device, does that mean my data is shared? Is there a monthly fee/subscription? It would be really useful if it would report when a device is having a problem and do analysis to recommend changes in devices, and changes in use. For example, tell me if the dishwasher is now using 4 x the power it has in the past, or the down stairs air conditioning compressor is using $200 a month inpower which is 2x what the unit should use for those number of hours used, . Or that since I can buy power repriced every 15 mins, I can heat water, freeze ice, and wash dishes, and cool/dehumidfy my house, when grid power is priced at a negative rate.
So this monitor tells you your fridge is drawing a lot of power. Now what? You need the fridge. It looks like it gives you a lot of useless information.

Best review about Sense on UA-cam. Thanks

How does the box know what device is what. Is it a ML algorithm?
Yes and lots of people say this often doesn't work very well.
The f bomb scale is genius.
I LOVE this thing. Most likely going to buy one...
Here's a referral link: store.sense.com?aff=4
Your breaker panel is outside? That’s what it looks like with the wood siding… never seen that in my neck of the woods 🧐
Love from India 👍👌
How did your usage compare to what your electric company charges? I’m sure I’m ours is ripping us off
How does this t know what appliances are actually on?
Does this work in UK electrical system?

I have 2 rentals can I monitor the total usage every month for each unit?

Does it give you the ability to see usage by circuit or just by individual items?

Are there any you'd suggest over this one?
Anyone know of any alternatives that don't require Wi-Fi connection to monitor power usage?
If I want to know how much my refrigerator or a computer costs me every day is there a device I can plug into the wall to get this information?

@@MrFixItDIY I got 2 smart plugs they work like a charm.
Socal edison put one in my breaker box and not by chioce but as a meter reader which does not allow this gagit. In the vid
Nice👍👍👍👍👍👍
How can I install this in a travel trailer?
That I don't know. Not sure if it has that capability. I'd suggest you reach out to their support team which is very helpful.
@@MrFixItDIY Reach out to what support team? The trailer or the monitor?

Great video nonetheless!!
Thank you!

Hi don't know your email so I will ask you here. Love your videos. How can I install a water filter for my new apt? Can't seem to find where to start.
Damn! 3 F bombs is a first...
Not the first but rare
there is this magical thing called sticker, which is on every appliance and tells you energy consumption. ⚡🤔
Less impactful on the environment... Seriously dude?
Efficiency in energy usage reduces pollution and other harm to the environment.
I prefer the fixit videos vs the infomercials. But that’s just my opinion.

This would help in making a budget
It definitely helps when setting a budget!
I live in a townhouse and the meter is far from the house, so I don’t think that this will work for me =P
How does this compare to the Square D Wiser energy monitor?
I love this video how do you get one of those stunts devices
1:30 no good for him huh lol
Thanks for sharing
1:25 woooow
Perfect pacing and excellent content! Many thanks.
