I really like this idea for occasional use, but a couple things to point out. 1. The view port will get absolutely destroyed from media bouncing back towards it. They make sacrificial protective sheets, but saran (spelling?) wrap works as a cheap alternative. 2. I would add some reenforcement to the areas most used, as the media will eat through the plastic tub in no time. Even some thin wood would work as a sacrificial measure. 3. Purpose made media is so much better than sand. Black diamond sells 50lb bags of fine slag for approx $10, and it cuts better and makes less dust, not to mention the hazards of silica. 4. For a bigger cabinet, a shop vac pulling air through a cyclone filter helps to keep dust down and make seeing easier. Also, once you realize just how convenient sandblasting is, you'll be upgrading to a dedicated recycling cabinet and a monster compressor... And then a pressure pot for outdoors... And then aanother, bigger cabinet... And then a bigger compressor yet again... 🤣
I only really made this for very very occasional use, I have a tiny workshop (around 6sqm/65sq feet), so don't have the space for anything more permanent. When I have a bigger workshop I would definitely look into buying or building something bigger and better with a proper sand blaster rather than the toy version I currently have! I only used the sand to test the cheap blast gun, which I expected to be useless! I need to get myself some proper media now I know it's surprisingly useable. I used my uncles blast cabinet on a recent project and that was a good setup with dust extraction etc. It's probably a good job I only have a tiny workshop currently because it wouldn't just be this that would be getting upgraded, I would quickly fill more space with lots of bigger and better tools 😂 Thank for your comment, I've pinned it for others who might be looking at making something similar.
@timdurachko You speak the truth... no compressor is ever big enough. My tip to anyone considering buying a compressor is this: Buy at LEAST 10x more than the maximum you think you will ever need. Just trust me now and thank me later 🤣

I bought one twice the size I needed and I’m so glad I did. I’m already planning the next one when we move and I have a bigger workshop 🤣
