    I worked with electronics for 20 years and never thought of testing connectors this way. We always just replaced the whole thing. Brilliant! Great series!

    My tomorrow project is tracing down some electrical gremlins and day before you post this video. Coincidence? Fate? Did we connect through the stars? I don't know, but your tips will make tomorrows troubleshooting a heck of allot easier! Thanks Doc!

    Great technical informatoon as always Doc. FTR: Large commercial aircraft had crashed with total loss of life, because a terminal on a wire was not crimped properly. Attitude indicator if I recall correctly.
    Seriously underated topic. Good call Doc (retired aerospace engineer here)

    Dielectric grease in these connections is also your friend. Helps reduce naturally occurring corrosion, and assists in conductivity

    More you text or remove these electric parts the losses they become. Yes if you have a problem do the test, no problems just keep riding.

    thanks Doc as a GM A S E Master Mechanic for 25 years I would find loose pin connections,burnt connections smashed connections and pushed back pins that was a intermittent problem like a loose terminal it was great when they were found sometimes by just checking the suspected circuit wiggle test or good luck.

    Hi Doc! I love Harley electronics! My Brand new Ultra killed a regulator in 3 years! Then 5 months ago it killed the stator and 2 weeks ago after 7 years it killed another regulator! Fun times!

    Check those battery terminals for tightness! More cars fail to hold a charge or start people's cars because of worn out or corroded battery terminals. Motorcycle terminals come lose too just from vibration!

    Doc, you made a comment about the security system before you pulled the main fuse. Can you point to a video or documents on that?

  • @montanaguy

    Doc, thanks for this posting. It is a deep subject but really helps the consumer better understand the electrical connections that make up the entire wiring harness 'point A to point B' connection importance. Vibration works against these connections as well as taking apart and reassembling them again, time after time, that also takes it's toll. Blessings, and stay safe, sir!

    have a question on the brake light on a 13 model. can it be replaced 1 to 1 with out a compensator.? i found the the base of the light bulb was a little burnt, making the brake light not work after a long stop.

      I believe I have a video in the past on replacing turn signal bulbs….Doc

    • @beauxdutaman7450
      @beauxdutaman7450 10 місяців тому

      its not the turn signal bulbs its the dual rear and brake light. the brake light gets hot and it causes the lead that it uses to burn a little making for an open circuit that turns on the red dash warning light. So i just was wondering if there is a direct swap from the reg bulbs to LED

    Love the glossary clarifications for “terminal” and “draw”. Might should’ve indicated something about “loose female connector” as well. My mind was racing. 😂
