I have the 150ps version since 2017. 150k kms so far with not a single problem. As you said, is a car that does it all, extremely happy with it.
same here mine is with dsg. and tuned from day one. still going strong. 130K. only changed brakes and water pump was leaking 🙈
Did you change the transmission oil ?
I have a 2020 mark 3, 1.5 TSI with 7 speed DSG. People at Skoda told me that this gearbox is dry clutch and sealed 4 life. So I don't have oils to change @@ahmadalhusaini4677
Brilliant engineering 👌🏻👌🏻
I’m from India and I have the 180 hp 1.8 TSI since 2018. Covered 70,000 km so far and not a single fault. Brilliantly engineered product. Almost faultless.
A PROPER WELL BALANCED REVIEW ! WELL DONE SIR !
Thank you very much!
Nice vid JJ. Quintessential alter ego channel for High Peak Autos 😂😂😂
Thanks :) I'm a big fan of Matts channel!
I actually first got recommended JJ under a High Peak Autos video!!
Love them both, phenomenal car channels. JJ specifically for his reviews, Matt for his cheap car videos.
For me, Skoda is #1 and VW #2. I just love Skoda, lol. Great review!
Thanks :)
I have one (estate) with 150 hp ans DSG from 2019. It has done 167000 and no problems so far. Smooth drive, economical and swift. Just back from the south of France with a caravan: excellent performance. A good family car!
Bought a Octavia 2017 a few months ago. Excellent family car, very happy with it.
One note I have : Not in need of more power than necessary I bought a 1 liter 3 cilinder. These vibrate a bit in the cabine and the engine rattles a bit. . I had it checked and I'm told that it is inerrant to the motor. Just keep it in mind. A 4 cilinder should not have these characteristics.
Good to hear you're happy with it. You're right about 3 cylinder motors, they can be a bit less refined but in my opinion they make a nice noise when you're accelerating. Cheers for watching and for the comment 👍
@@JJonCarsmy one litre tsi is ultra smooth and quiet 2019 model with 40000.00 miles
Taxi driver cars done 260k miles, still going strong
Awesome, nice to hear from a taxi driver! Is it your favourite out of the cars you've had?
@@JJonCars so far most definitely 👍
Is it adviseable to use the DSG transmission (Dry Clutch) version of the skoda octavia mk3 for taxi 6:43
What engine?
We've got the 2017 Scout version, a brilliant car in every respect. The Octavia is one of the best cars out there in terms of quality and real value for money. Oh yes I really do like the split headlights fitted to the facelifted cars from 2017 onwards, gives the car a striking sharp look. Might well replace our other car a Mondeo, for the 1.5 petrol Octavia hatchback. Great review JJ on Cars, always look out for the new reviews.
Thank you! Glad you like the Octavia. The Scout is cool :)
my fave all-rounder, but got better trim.Yeti, as well, they do offer enjoyable and satisfactory rides
I do like the Yeti!
Nice review - I’ve had 4 golfs and changed to a 1.5 tsi as I didn’t like the Golf 8. Much refer the Skoda and the engine is quiet, swift and gets 48mpg without really trying.
Yeah totally - they are quiet and super economical :)
Is the 1.5 Tsi engine bad from a cold start up? cutting out etc? read some bad reports, thanks
my a 15 plate scout .had it 5 yrs just great car 100k and drives spot on
Another superb review. Nice one, JJ! 😎
Cheers Neil! :)
It's an Octavia review
Didnt like the headlights when the facelift first came out, but it has grown on me.
Same 👍
Had no problems with my Octavia 2019 reg. manual. Only complains a little offset driver sitting position and noises levels. Also, if to be picky little rattles noises - which disappear if you go faster ;) Build quality was a bit better in A5 Vs A7 Octavia model. And do not buy second hand DSG automatic if car is over 100k mile (ticking bomb with expensive repairs).
This isn't the first time I've wondered this, but where the hell do you film these? It's BEAUTIFUL
This one is filmed near Keele, it's a great backdrop for sure. A lot of my vids are filmed in the Peak District area (I'm based not all that far from a certain other car channel...)
@@JJonCars Haha nice! I live in boring Birmingham but went to uni in Wales, a lot of your videos remind me of the Snowdonia area which is beautiful and loads of fun to drive through, it takes me back :)
hate the headlights on the mk 3 fl and the mk4. i hate them enough to only ever consider buying mk 3 pre facelift no matter the age, great video by the way
Haha yes they do look odd. They're like the headlights off the Mercedes E Class coupe. But they look out of place on the Skoda. Cheers :)
I have a 2015 1.6tdi DSG. Really just needed a car as my peugeot was falling to bits. Was pointed to this by my uncle who's a trader (and happened to have one sitting there)
I think it's the most unsuspecting car. For a young person and petrolhead myself, it really is just a more practical golf mk7. I've done countless things to the car, most impressively fitted the 9.2inch touchscreen and digital dashboard to really bring it to 2023.
Drives brilliantly, super reliable.
Maybe a bit slow setting off and hesitant to use 1st like most DSG models. It also likes to chew through suspension bushes.
Never thought it'll be a car I'd come to appriciate and love with it being 'Just a taxi'.
Thanks for the comment man. I honestly think there's no such thing as a 'petrol head' car or a 'boring car' or anything like that. If we like a car, we like a car and it really doesn't matter what other people think. So fair play, glad you like it, they are great cars.
You should use S mode if you need to get off the line swiftly.
@@dragospahontuIt does wake it up a tad.
Compared to any manual or wet clutch I've driven, does feel like you're waiting forever for it stop grumbling before shooting off.
So you hauled yourself off to Keele? 🙂 The only time I've been in a Octavia was as a passenger - in a taxi to the airport, fairly anonymous but plenty of room.
Indeed! It's a scenic spot - with some nice architecture/backdrops :) They're not an exciting petrolhead car, but they are very worthy.
I've a Mk6 Jetta and it looks very similar to this
Volkswagen owns skoda they share parts
In Finland Skoda Octavia was sold as the sensibel car.
Actually? And does sensibel mean sensible? Funny if it does :)
I have skoda octavia 2016 model and now i have problem door lock front passenger....boot button dont work...I think electrical parts its so sensitive...
Does the octavia 2018 have ACC?
I've driven of the these 2 litre diesel dsg. Not exciting obviously but other than that hard to fault
Exactly 👍

How does this compare to the Greenline version on a 15 model..? Do you reckon it would have better fuel consumption or would it be on par..? I’ve heard the Greenline versions are fairly rare to purchase knowadays …
The Greenline on a 15 vs a 17 plate? I imagine they'd be pretty similar?
Hi JJ could u do review on Ford ecosport 2018 onwards thx
Hi Benny - if I can get hold of one I will :)
Anyone tow a caravan with one of these. Just wondering how they perform
Im thinking to trade my bmw e91 325i in for a the 1.0tsi version. I know its a big power gap and a bit of comfort gap but the bmw is twice as expensive in insurance, fuel and road tax. I just dont know if itd be wise 😅
You sound like a car guy to me.. I think you might find the Octavia somewhat uninteresting compared to the old Beemer. I think you have to question whether the extra costs are worth the enjoyment you might get from the car :) The Octavia is a great car, but it's not necessarily a car for petrolheads (as mentioned in the vid :) ).
But then again, if you need something sensible and to cut costs, then it's a good choice.
@@JJonCarsits a difficult choice, our speedlimits are very low so the skoda would make more sense but as you say i like cars but i wouldnt need a 6cilinder for 60mph max speed limit on highways. But its just the comfort and smoothness the car. But the costs dont make sense. If id own the bmw for 2 years from now on for the extra costs i could buy a skoda
@@damien523 that's fair enough, you know your situation best. The Octavia will do everything you need for low running costs :)
@@JJonCars yep 😁 thanks for the review and quick response 👍
I have the Octavia mk3 1.6tdi. I'm not a fan of it. It's not grippy on the roads and doesn't feel good to drive. I'm looking to buy a Hybrid, possibly a Corolla or a Prius in the near future.
Such a great all rounder is the Octavia, not a fan of the face lifted headlights on the one you're driving here 🤓
It looks a lot like the 2009 E-Class from the front. It is odd, but I find it more 'interesting' than the pre-facelift at least.
An Car.
A Octavia: an car ❤️
Gave a like only because you also don't like SUVs 😂
😂
Not with those stupid split headlights
It was quite the big change I will admit
That’s the thing I like the most
Looks interesting though
