I'm 71 years old now, but in 1977 I purchased a 1975 Trans Am, Mint Condition, Automatic, Sterling Sliver Color, Black Interior, Honeycomb Wheels, 400 Cubic Inch Engine, Screaming Eagle on Hood, with 13,000 miles from a used car lot. Wow did I love that car. Everywhere I drove, non-stop people looking at the car. The sterling silver looked incredible at night. Ather two years of driving fun, the car was stolen. Stolen cars have always been a problem in Brooklyn, New York.
My adoptive father had a 1976 TransAm silver 6,6 Litre, like this when I was a child.🙀 Very nice childhood memories for me. Even with electric windows, not hand cranking!!! 😹👎
I had a 75 as well. It was white with black consoles and red seats and carpet. Honeycomb wheels, blue bird on the hood but was a 4 speed manual. It was definitely a head turner.

No, no, don't make that mistake. I'd recommend "revising" the year of your T/A dream car to somewhere between 1969-72-ish, also maybe 73, but ideally 1969 or 70. Sure, you may not get a disco chicken decal in those first 2 model years, but it makes up for it by being more powerful, better looking overall, less bloated and heavy, and rarer.
From the UK we can only dream about cars like this! Amazing Trans Am, you are lucky to have the roads and country to enjoy a long ride. We came close with a Capri but not quite the same! Enjoy it mate lots of memories to make

Congratulations on obtaining a dream car. I have always wanted this exact car. I absolutely love it and you and your girl deserve everything good that comes to you. God bless.
What a looker - love it. '77 Trans Am was my first car that I bought when I was 15 years old in the late 1980s (go easy on my parents - I was a good kid, although I drove like I was in Smokey in the Bandit!). Favorite car, still miss it :-) Oh yeah, additives never really work well for oil leaks. I remember how close the pan was to the frame, and I have a memory of replacing my pan gasket one time but had to unbolt the block from the motor mounts and I lifted it up from the top a couple of inches using an engine crane which gave me enough space to work on the pan. Or you might be able to sneak in a floor jack somewhere on the transmission to lift up the tranny and motor and get some clearance (just don't crush the transmission pan). I think I popped on a set of headers while I was at it with a little bit of extra clearance, but it was a long time ago (35 years) so I may remember it wrong ... I had a 350, 400, and final motor was a 455 that I rebuilt with help from family members. Sold that car for $2K with the almost new 455 ... LOL shoulda parked it in a barn and kept it. Anyway, I love the car, looks like it is in A+ condition, I'm jealous!
Same as me. In the late 80’s you saw these cars in used car lots, for sale in someone’s driveway, on the side of the road. Before the internet, we would have to hunt for cars or fine them in the Want Ads or Auto Shopper newspaper. Every Tuesday I would go to the convenience store and get like three different weekly papers that had used cars for sale. Man, have times changed!
@@MrWill73 So true, brings back memories, in the Waco Texas area in the late 80s we had a free classified newspaper called "The Thrifty Nickel" where you could find just about anything, including cars (sort of like a local Craigslist). Then you had the regular paper classifieds. But my favorite: Auto Trader. They had a nice thick print edition that covered much of north Texas and had page after page of Z28s, Trans Ams, and every muscle car you could think of.
@@AustinApologue Oh yeah! I remember the Auto Trader. I believe it came out monthly. Man we’re there some sweet cars in there back then. I remember there were dealers that had a large amount of 30s-40s cars that were complete but needed restoration. I may have a couple in my collection of car magazines that I started collecting in 1985. I learned how to wrench on cars from those magazines.
Your "Bandit TA" took me back to when I was a real "Bad Boy",that even the "County Sheriff" did not like my "Rebel Ways"-those were the "Good Ole Days",hey! "Keep On Cruising"
Congrats man. Sweet vintage ride. Word of advice from us guys that build old cars from the ground up: no additives. Just fix the seal. Additives just cause other problems in the long run. I know it sucks, but you'll be thankful you did it the correct way.
Yup the only thing you get out of additive's is additional trouble. The plus side on a new gasket is knowing extra stuff isn't hanging out around the oil pick up, your oil psi will be more honest, and Hey NO leaks. It's also cheaper than a new engine. Bottom line Michael, you nail it.
@@Drive615 you definitely are gonna wanna do all new seals at the bare minimum. Those cork seals like to dry out if they sit very long. I would start any old motor atleast once a week to cycle fluids. Less problems.

I am Mechanic and engine builder from Canada. Your car is absolutely beautiful, 15 years ago I built myself a 1978 Z28 with 700hp. There were two 400 ci motors offered at the time you have the way better one of the two. Try to stay away from oil additives, if it is just the oil pan leaking and not the front or rear main seal you can try retorquing the pan but ultimately the car is way too nice just change the oil pan gasket, and make sure your crank case ventilation system is working properly put a new valve in they are cheap. Beautiful car enjoy. I have built hundreds of cars and yours looks in incredible condition, and just from your under the hood shot I can assure you that odometer has not rolled over. Cheers

Awesome. Glad you got your dream car. I bet it didn't disappoint. I eventually managed to buy my dream car also, a Porsche 911 & no, it didn't disappoint at all.
@@Drive615 its a 2003 996 C4S. Porsche purists dislike the model because of the headlight shape(?) & its water cooled. It's such a reliable & drivable car though & you probably find the same thing yourself, random people will come up & ask or talk about the car anywhere, anytime which I love because I love the car (my own & your own) myself & I hear some excellent stories from them also. But the other thing is, it keeps me humble & reminded that I'm actually really driving & owning my dream car. Life can be crazy & things happen despite our hopes & wishes so Im never sure how long this will last, & I hope it does, but I'm glad I've had this experience if nothing else. The best way I can describe it is the difference between driving the Japanese truck I use for work & driving the 911 is like the difference between Clark Kent & Superman.
My adoptive father had a 1976 TransAm silver 6,6 Litre, like this when I was a child.🙀 Very nice childhood memories for me. Even with electric windows, not hand cranking!!! 😹👎
This was the first car I fell in love with at 4 years old and I still love it. I saw hoovie has one in his garage so I looked it up and found your channel. Congratulations man, love the car 🐦⬛💪
I had 2 77's back in the day. One an automatic completely stock, the other a 4 speed with lower gear ratio differential and a worked motor with 11:1 pistons and a 4:88 cam. That car was too much fun!
Happy for you. I know the feeling. Grew up with 6 of us driving 6 TAs from '77 to '79. 400s and 403s. You have the much loved TA 6.6 version. No t-tops is what I prefer cause car is much more structural sound and doesn't rattle. Muck luck and enjoy.
Hello you have a very beautyful TRANSAM CAR ! I LOVE THIS CAR ! I AM A BIG FAN FROM THIS! - A VERY VERY WONDERFUL CAR DO YOU HAVE ! - GREETINGS FROM GERMANY ❤❤❤
Dude: I absolutely love your enthusiasm. Just a fun video to watch because I know exactly how you feel every time I'm lucky enough to get something special. I'm watching the Meccum auctions this month. They have maybe 5 of these for sale. Maybe I'll follow your lead.
Had a 77' Smokey and the Bandit I bought used the early 80s for about $7k. Despite the leaky T-tops and pleather interior that really heated up in the summer....I loved and miss it. Enjoy your new baby!!! Definitely a car wash eye-catcher.
Hi, I can appreciate your enthusiasm man! I had an '81 Turbo Trans Am, black.. And I must say, I still dream about that car. Mine was pretty clean, but sheesh, yours is very nice. And yours has the 403 l believe? Mine was a 4.9 liter 301.. Even with Turbo, wasn't that fast. But yes, my dream car too brother! Congratulations!
I had a '78 403, auto and LOVED it, then I saw the '79's with the T/A 6.6l Pontiac with a rock crusher 4-spd trans, WS6 package, T-tops, etc....THAT car was my favorite of all time....fast, fun, and a head turner for sure. I wish I still had it.....
Love that car. Glad you were able to get it. They are fun cars, and head turners. Everyone loves seeing them. I own a 1980 Camaro Z28. Same basic body style, second gen F body. The oil pan gasket leak is a common problem with those cars. Enjoy it! I love mine, has the functioning air induction scoop, and 1980 was the last years of those cars without an onboard computer and the very sucky turbo 250 transmission.
This just makes me smile and gives me confidence I will find mine also. Definitely my dream car since I was a kid and saw this on TNT in the late 80s. 😅
I had one of these when I was 17. It was screaming yellow, with black velour seats, and a 4 on the floor! It had the same 6.6 (400) bone stock. Don't know how you pulled off that smoky hole shot, with that detuned motor. I really enjoyed the car, had a lot of fun with it- however it was really not that fast. I had a 67 Mercury with a 390, and C6 trans, that would eat it for lunch. It did get a lot of attention, from the opposite sex, as well as the 5-O. I'm glad you found your dream car, and hope you enjoy it!
Last week on the Bring A Trailer bidding website a restored mod Trans Am sold for $145,000 I looked about mid week and it was at $76,000. I've seen others bid high that weren't restored. One hot car you have there. I can definitely remember those. I knew someone who had one in high school.
So glad for you man that you got your dream T/A....welcome to the club, I was the same...hooked from day one when Smokey & the Bandit came out...cheers from Aus👍🍻🇦🇺
Im so happy for you! I had one in my 20s. I got so much ass it was insane. Had so much fun. By far one of my biggest regrets in life getting rid of it!!!!
My ex husband & I had the real deal. 77 Bandit Edition with the hurst t-tops, hurst shifter, black valore interior ect. Front end would come up off the ground & had posse rear end traction. Beautiful car! He bought it with his money after he got out of the military from Marty Roe. Lead singer for Diamond Rio. I was driving to work one day and got t-boned in the passenger side. Totaled the car. This was back in the late 90’s. Anyways, I’ll never forget how that car made me feel every time I drove it.
Ironically, last week. sitting in the top of the garbage in my neighborhood was the cb radio for that car- movie. PACE CB-166. I had no idea grabbed it. Works terrific. Googled the model number and was like wow. Good score.i did have a 1979 blue 301 firebird.
Not half pumped r we !!! Gotta luv it. They r a wok of art like the 70-73 Camaros. I have just found one in a garage and put a do u want to sell sign on it. It’s a basket case barn find but u can still appreciate those beautiful lines. Very happy for u and very jealous at the same time. Im in Oz so they sent exactly thick on the ground here ! If I can get this resto one cheap, say 10gs aus I make myself afford it . Thanks for the great video guys . What would we do without the tube👍👍👍
Happy for you man , real happy , I love them an yes they getting super expensive I wish Pontiac was still around an kept this cars molds an could make more , can u imagine how many would be sold if that was possible ,
That's a fine car to have fun with. Back in the day I had a 1978 Bandit that looked a lot like yours. Mine had a 1973 SD 455 installed previous to my owning it. Fun car! Enjoy yours. 😎
Just bought a 1979 y84 SE at the Mecum auction in Indy. It's lot S95 if you want to see the pics. My dream car as well. Congratulations. I know the feeling. Crazy. Like kids again.
I never forgot this car. Back then my grandfather had one and would drive it around and to the store and this Car was always cool. He had it black with the gold Eagle on the hood.
Hardtop cars are so much better to own imo. I have had both and the hardtop cars are tighter, don’t have rust damage from leaky T-tops and survived much better than T-top cars.
I had a 78 gold limited edition. A year after this car they made a gold one! I love the black and gold though for sure! It’s more classic. That’s such a ka great looking car. You did a good job with it. You’re gonna have a blast in that car!
This is my dream car too. It's simply beautiful. My uncle got one for only $1000. It was in a terrible condition though. He's been slowly fixing it. I plan on buying it from him one day of he's still got it and restoring it.
Very nice car, I had the 1978 same car, I miss it. The only tip I have is the “S” clips that hold the front valance are plastic and break. Have some made of metal or cast aluminum and you will be golden.
That was always one of my Favorite Cars since my Childhood. I remember back in the 2000-2010 those Cars was so Cheap, and nobody wanted them. Today they are so Rare and Expencive. Here in Germany the worst and cheapes one start at 20k.
I bought my 77 Trans Am new when I was 20 years old. Got 193,000 miles on it original paint. Drove it at least once a week every year from Easter Sunday till they put salt on the road. Don't know how to put a picture on here. It shines. Bought and saw the movie smokie and the bandet for the first time 3 years ago. I didn't need to see it sooner cause I was driving it 11:18

give me a Diablo sandwich and a Dr. Pepper!
"What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law."

I graduated from high school in 1979 and there were a few of these in the parking lot. They really stood out next to my yellow ‘66 VW.
My dad owned 2. He was a motor dealer in Australia. He had the copper brown 76 model and a silver 78 model. I got taken to my 5th grade social dance at school in the 76. Forever remembered. I plan on importing one for myself before long, im nearly retired now. Tribute to my Dad, rest in peace mate.
Thanks, for commenting…. See my 77 TA / SE/ Hurst Hatch, etc… interestingly, my 77 6.6 LITRE was extremely fast top end(* improved with HO PRODUCTS/& NUNZI’s PONTIAC PARTS: distributor,KONI, SHAKER AIR,INDUCTIONS , TRANSMISSION REBUILD, VALVOLINEs Racing oils(before Synthetic,GOODYEAR HI SPEED ),Choke, Exhaust ,etc)…..admittedlyPontiac 400/6.6 , low powered from Factory:: as the *TA 6.6 was a gas eater Option & better Option originally , deeper Build ups….

Awesome. Glad you got your dream car. I bet it didn't disappoint.
I eventually managed to buy my dream car also, a Porsche 911 & no, it didn't disappoint at all.
Congrats!! What color??
@@Drive615 Black my friend. With black leather interior. Handles like it's glued to the road.
Fun video, I know the feeling. I bought a 1978 (non-black) for my 50th birthday. My dream car also. Congratulations!
Great car and I love your enthusiasm and love for the car. Thanx for sharing and congratulations on getting your dream car. Enjoy
Thank you so much. Appreciate that so much
Dude I feel like I came on a journey with you!! Thanks for sharing this!
thanks for coming along for the ride man! Can't wait to link up in Nashville!
My adoptive father had a 1976 TransAm silver 6,6 Litre, like this when I was a child.🙀 Very nice childhood memories for me. Even with electric windows, not hand cranking!!! 😹👎
That was my dream car as well. Your passion makes me excited. Happy for you.
This was the first car I fell in love with at 4 years old and I still love it. I saw hoovie has one in his garage so I looked it up and found your channel. Congratulations man, love the car 🐦⬛💪
That’s amazing! So glad you found me too. More to come.
I fell in love with it at a similar age. Smokey and the bandit!
Hell yeah. Im buying a 78 firebird twin turboed here in a week or 2 so ive been watching firebird and trans am videos like crazy in anticipation
That’s amazing! Congrats. What color?
I had 2 77's back in the day. One an automatic completely stock, the other a 4 speed with lower gear ratio differential and a worked motor with 11:1 pistons and a 4:88 cam. That car was too much fun!
Happy for you. I know the feeling. Grew up with 6 of us driving 6 TAs from '77 to '79. 400s and 403s. You have the much loved TA 6.6 version. No t-tops is what I prefer cause car is much more structural sound and doesn't rattle. Muck luck and enjoy.
Thank you so much and yes. I love it. It’s my preferred version too.
Congrats!! That’s sweet
Hello you have a very beautyful TRANSAM CAR ! I LOVE THIS CAR ! I AM A BIG FAN FROM THIS! - A VERY VERY WONDERFUL CAR DO YOU HAVE ! - GREETINGS FROM GERMANY ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!! Glad you love it. Thanks for watching
@@Drive615 Thanks and have great Eastern !
Your enthusiasm is what makes this video. Good job!
Even though I don't know you, I can relate and I am so happy for you. 😀
Thank you so much!! You rock!!!
Burt Reynolds loved this car so much. RIP
Dude: I absolutely love your enthusiasm. Just a fun video to watch because I know exactly how you feel every time I'm lucky enough to get something special. I'm watching the Meccum auctions this month. They have maybe 5 of these for sale. Maybe I'll follow your lead.
Thank you so much sir. Really appreciate you! If you have the money, do it! Just know there will be leaks unless you fix the rear main seal
Had a 77' Smokey and the Bandit I bought used the early 80s for about $7k. Despite the leaky T-tops and pleather interior that really heated up in the summer....I loved and miss it. Enjoy your new baby!!! Definitely a car wash eye-catcher.
Thank you so much! Appreciate it!
This is the vehicle that sparked my interest in cars. It's my dream car as well. Gorgeous car man
Hi, I can appreciate your enthusiasm man!
Love to see this man! Congrats 🏁
Thanks brother!!! Hope you’re well!
@@Drive615 likewise man
Congratulations on your dream car!!
I bought my dream Firebird 42years ago and still enjoy driving it!!
No car like it.
Enjoy the ride 😊
Thank you! You enjoy too!
Damn I happy for you . I love to see someone get that excited for cars like I do
Thank you so much!
This is the ultimate daily driver. Congratulations
Owned one of these 30 years ago, best year with a grill & no T roof. Perfect.
Amazing!! So cool
Love it! You could always get another
Great car! Definitely a dream car. As a Georgia boy that license plate needs to be changed to original, other than that looks awesome.
Saw Smokey and the Bandit back in the day and straight away fell in love with this car. Only problem is as much as I’d love to, I’ll never own one.
You might!
This just makes me smile and gives me confidence I will find mine also. Definitely my dream car since I was a kid and saw this on TNT in the late 80s. 😅
You will! Just be patient!! 💪🏼
Thank you so much!
Too funny! That’s a great story. Yes not fast but fun! How did you come across this video? Im curious
Last week on the Bring A Trailer bidding website a restored mod Trans Am sold for $145,000 I looked about mid week and it was at $76,000. I've seen others bid high that weren't restored. One hot car you have there. I can definitely remember those. I knew someone who had one in high school.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it very much
So glad for you man that you got your dream T/A....welcome to the club, I was the same...hooked from day one when Smokey & the Bandit came out...cheers from Aus👍🍻🇦🇺
Thank you so so much. Appreciate it. Best movie ever
Im so happy for you! I had one in my 20s. I got so much ass it was insane. Had so much fun. By far one of my biggest regrets in life getting rid of it!!!!
Thank you so much!!! Hey you can buy mine if you want lol
That’s awesome I am jealous. Remember that car when I was in high school.Movie was awesome.
I liked your story about finding this car and the videos you are making. Congratulations. I love this car.
Thank you so so much.
How did you come across this video?
Sweet ride! Just watched Smokey and the bandit the other night!
Sweeeet
My ex husband & I had the real deal. 77 Bandit Edition with the hurst t-tops, hurst shifter, black valore interior ect. Front end would come up off the ground & had posse rear end traction. Beautiful car! He bought it with his money after he got out of the military from Marty Roe. Lead singer for Diamond Rio. I was driving to work one day and got t-boned in the passenger side. Totaled the car. This was back in the late 90’s. Anyways, I’ll never forget how that car made me feel every time I drove it.
It’s a great car. Sorry to hear about your accident
You have my dream car. Two of my cousins had Trans Ams and it was part of my youth.
Enjoy, you will have a ball.
That’s so cool! Thank you so much. Happy Thursday!
Ironically, last week. sitting in the top of the garbage in my neighborhood was the cb radio for that car- movie. PACE CB-166. I had no idea grabbed it. Works terrific. Googled the model number and was like wow. Good score.i did have a 1979 blue 301 firebird.
It's not just your dream car.Its over half the Countrys Dream Car
True that. True that!!!
Thank you so much!!! Appreciate you. Keep up the hard work and you will get exactly the one you want
It is a beauty loved every minute of mine back in the day straight off the floor 1977
Amazing!!!! Hey how did you find this video?
Dude, congrats! I know how you feel. 77-78 SE Trans Am is at the top of my dream car list too. Enjoy the hell out of it!
Thank you so much! I’ll do my best!
Happy for you man , real happy , I love them an yes they getting super expensive I wish Pontiac was still around an kept this cars molds an could make more , can u imagine how many would be sold if that was possible ,
I’m currently looking for the same, drivable (not perfect) trans am. Was the first car ever to make me fall in love with cars. Yours looks great.
Thank you so much! Keep looking!
That's a fine car to have fun with. Back in the day I had a 1978 Bandit that looked a lot like yours. Mine had a 1973 SD 455 installed previous to my owning it. Fun car! Enjoy yours. 😎
Thank you so much! That’s great you got to own one too!
@@Drive615 This inspired me to plug in the "Smokey and The Bandit" for a trip down memory lane. I had a ton of fun with mine.
Congrats man, a dream come true!
Agree thank you
So sick!! Congrats man happy for you!!
Thanks brother!! Just got to Manhattan
Just bought a 1979 y84 SE at the Mecum auction in Indy. It's lot S95 if you want to see the pics. My dream car as well. Congratulations. I know the feeling. Crazy. Like kids again.
I had a white 77 TA. Loved it
Thanks for sharing. That was my dream car also! Enjoy it!
Right on!
I never forgot this car. Back then my grandfather had one and would drive it around and to the store and this Car was always cool. He had it black with the gold Eagle on the hood.
that is amazing! what city?
@@Drive615 It was Florida in Opa-locka by the Opa-locka Airport .. neighborhood
Had one in 77 bought it for 6,600. And sold it for 2,500 in 85. I wish I had it back! Great times !
Amazing!!!
Congrats with the Bandit car. I watched the video 2 times😊. Its looks really amazing ❤ wow this is my all time dream car.🙏🏼🙌🏼 Greetz from Holland
Thank you so so much!!!
@@Drive615 welcome my friend 👌👍 enjoy the beautiful Bandit 😊😊
So happy for you.I love trans am.I put bird on hood of my truck.
That’s so cool!!!
such a beauty i can only hope to own one someday. definitely my dream car the black and gold is so beautiful.
Its perfect the way it is are you kidding. Just keep it going and enjoy
I know I know! Thank you so much
Omg,you are so right man!!love your car,I have a 77 in red!! It was love at first sight for me lol😃
Thank you so much!! Glad to hear it.
Props for getting one with the "hard top"! My first one had the hard top and my friend had the "t-tops", he always made fun of mine until it rained! 😂
Thank you for the props! Most people are like. Awww should have gotten t tops lol
Quality control was so bad in the seventies that some of those t-tops leaked right out of the factory
Thank you so much and congrats to you.
Congratulations on buying the most iconic car in history.
Thank you so much
The Bullitt Mustang comes to mind...but I do love those Pontiacs!
Great video, I love your enthusiasm:-) My dream car too. Hopefuly, one day, I will get one. Not perfect, but perfect for me.
Thank you so much!! Yes you will. Keep manifesting!
Love the movie!....love the car!....congratulations and God Bless!
Thank you!!!
No need to say any thing just say excellent.TRANSAM
Amazing car and it's really is ikon for fans! Enjoy it brother!
Congrats nice to see dreams come true
Thank you
Congratulations! Really cool. A great car even without a t-top. Classic. It looks good and I'd be happy to own on ein this condition.
Thank you so much!! Appreciate it. How did you find this video?
I may only be 16 but i will one day have this car, no matter what it takes
You got this buddy!
@@Drive615 i sure as hell do, i can buy a battered one for maybe 10-15 k, its gonna be a bit of a fixer upper but im more than happy to do that
This is my dream car too. It's simply beautiful. My uncle got one for only $1000. It was in a terrible condition though. He's been slowly fixing it. I plan on buying it from him one day of he's still got it and restoring it.
"Stay right here. Don't move. Don't play with yourself. You can think about it, but don't do it".
That’s a good one!
That thing is a swagger machine!
Beautiful, bro!! I want one also. Some guy down my street has one sitting in his driveway for about 8 years now never moves!! Hmmm
Go ask about it!!
Very nice car, I had the 1978 same car, I miss it. The only tip I have is the “S” clips that hold the front valance are plastic and break. Have some made of metal or cast aluminum and you will be golden.
Thank you so much!!
I actually got them fixed. Thank you
That was always one of my Favorite Cars since my Childhood. I remember back in the 2000-2010 those Cars was so Cheap, and nobody wanted them.
Today they are so Rare and Expencive.
Here in Germany the worst and cheapes one start at 20k.
Wow that’s a lot!
I didn't need to see it sooner cause I was driving it 11:18
Nice ride man...congrats! Njoy
Thank you sir!
