Anette is great on the studio albums, not as much live. She is on NW dark passion play and imaginarium, a great reaction would be the video for amaranth, it's a wild little story mixed with some band performance. As for that wacken 2013 show (amazing), the opening song is "Dark chest of wonders"

After all, it's quite easy to say afterwards that anyone would have been in an equally difficult situation as Tarja's successor. She was really popular, original and unique in her style. Because of the split, she lost almost the whole business network and she had to start from scratch. Despite everything, a very successful solo career which tells a lot. Pretty good from a woman who didn't really know almost anything about metal music as a teenager when she jumped into it.

Buster gives it 12 “Woofs” up! As you expand into Anette Olzon, you’ll probably find that she is better in studio than live performances. The two albums Nightwish released with Anette are their top two selling albums. Tuomas wrote some really great songs at that time. One exception, where Anette sounds great live, is Slow Love Slow, from Montreaux. The music videos for Amaranth and Scaretale are also good examples of Anette’s contributions. Meadows of Heaven is also a great song, best with studio version. Bye Bye Beautiful video is also good, though Marko does most of the vocals. She has lighter hair, but dyed it black for Nightwish, at least in the beginning.

@@SueSueandthewolfman Finns and Vikings - that's just too weird to me 😄 Actually it's funny, last 10 years there have been talks and research in Finland that what Finns have done at The Viking Age (793-1066 AD). European literature practically doesn't talk about Finland at all when talking about the Viking Age. Researchers are interested in what has happened in Finland at that time. It is known that the Vikings made raids into Finland. Vikings is a Norwegian, Swedish and Danish thing.

@@ValtteL thank you Valtte!! I think that as Americans anyone from your area of the world were Vikings.
Thank you so much for pointing out where Vikings actually came from because honestly I did not know :-) but we certainly don’t want that to be thought of as derogatory it’s just a funny nickname we came up with.
I know I’m getting long-winded but I wanted to share a story with you. We had some friends that lived in Britain for a while England specifically. And they said that at any costume party Halloween or anywhere you had dressed up that the American kids all dressed up like knights and ladies while all the British kids dressed up like cowboys and Indians :-) I thought that was funny. I did get a sense from the people I work for overseas that much like my visions of watt Europe is like is most like what I think a lot of peoples versions of America is like. But as always thank you so much.

@@SueSueandthewolfman That's okay. Finns have a great relationships with Sweden and Norway, and the lifestyle is very similar, so it's understandable that not every nuances are well known. Throughout history, Finland has fought to free itself from swedish and russian rule, so we have been quite a lonely tribe and the really old finnish mentality has been "could you please leave us alone". I follow the research of the Viking topic with interest. You know, maybe one day I'll proudly explain that we were vikings too 😂
Yeah, culture things are very difficult and usually outsiders don't know shit. This year has been this big Nato thing with Finland and Sweden. It's totally own fault when can't help but watch some news clips from UK, US, France or something about Finland. In general they are often kind of right, but there are so many mistakes in the details and it's been little bit revelation to myself really. I think it's the same for everyone, you think you know what something is from the outside, but the source of information may not have been good and you're very fast completely lost.

This came out during Annettes era with Nightwish. And its not that she can't sing. She really can. Shes phenomenal. But she replaced Tarja. Vocally, they went from operatic power to more of a poppy style. Plus alot of fans were still upset and didn't believe the reasons for Tarjas firing so Annette was in a bad place to begin with. Plus not a lot of people can handIe touring 2 years straight singing such complex songs. Don't come at me, but just personal opinion and for the record I LOVE ALL 3 SINGERS but I see it as Goldilocks syndrome.
    1) Tarja = Too operatic
    2) Annette = Too poppy
    3) Floor = Juuuuuust right.
Tuomas had to write differently to suit her style. She had a harder time with the previous Nightwish catalogue especially live. But the albums she was there for, were amazing. Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum. So there are some songs she she can't be touched on such as (and I highly recommend) Scaretale (live), Meadows of Heaven, For the Heart I Once Had, and The Escapist.
