Yeah because she was just going around sleeping with people and shit guys picked up on that and treated her like shit because she was just sex for them. If she didn’t sleep around so much and actually held out she probably would found a good one who was willing to wait for her.
I agree, everyone else's relationship are over the top, but they are the rock, the only one that seems the most real (as in real life couple) out of the show
@@Alastor255 I guess it helps that they were once a couple in real life. Kind of like Anna Paquin and the guy who played Bill in 'True Blood, or the actor and actress who played Jon Snow and Ygritte in GOT.' That's why movie couples in the 70s and 80s seemed more believable; a lot of the actors and actresses were dating each other in real life, like Clint Eastwood and Sandra Locke. Chemistry is the hardest thing for actors and actresses to emulate when it's not based on genuine attraction between the two parties.
I think all the couples in the show deserve each other, for the good and the bad. Leonard and Penny are an example of a couple that really had to work for it. They broke up like 3 times but eventually got over their own character flaws and got married.
Every one of them had to work for their couplings and I fully support Rahj ending up single n hot lol he needed to end up single n learn to value/love himself so he'd be a good partner. Sheldon had to learn to consider others more, see their perspective, and learn humility, all of which Amy taught him. Shelly taught Amy that she did see value in romantic relationships. Howard had to grow up some so he could become a better human and not end up in jail. He had to learn boundaries, respect for women as human and not sex objects, and how to treat your partner like a partner n not mold them into his mother. Bernadette made that clear for him, regularly, that she wasn't his mom n she never will be. Leonard had to overcome his mother issues, stop looming down on people who aren't book smart n learn to value other forms of intelligence as valid. He also had to get over his fantasies just enough to enjoy his real life with his dream girl. Penny taught him the value of emotional intelligence, people skills, direct communication, and asking for help when you need it.
One of the sweetest things Penny ever did for Leonard and she didn't even realize how much she showed him she loved him. I'm not crying, you're crying!
I do this with things my boyfriend does. I save a ticket stub every time we go to a movie. I have a ribbon that came from the first bouquet of flowers he gave me. I even have a long dead glowstick bracelet from our first fourth of July together, because that's when we had our first kiss. It's nice to keep a box of memories.
And when she said "crapstorm of romance" she was serious about it being romance, not just sex. By this time there was no doubt that she had openly committed her heart to the future of loving Leonard as her squeeze! The coitus that was forthcoming was 2 people IN LOVE, not just 2 people having sex!
Leonard is the best boyfriend Penny has ever had....and.....Penny is the best girlfriend Leonard ever had. If you don't believe it, look at Leonard's history......Joyce Kim, who was just using Leonard to steal government secrets. Leslie Winkle, who just used Leonard for sex but did not want real relationship with him. Priya, who hid their relationship from her parents and cheated on him when she went back to India (the only reason Leonard even found out that Priya was going to go back to India was that he overheard a conversation, she did not even bother to tell him she was leaving).
+Deborah It took me 7 months to respond because I must have overlooked your comment. Your response is incorrect (re-read my post to see how you misread it) The original poster said Penny was Leonard's best girlfriend. You said, it was the opposite. I stated that Penny was the best girlfriend that Leonard ever had and listed the reasons why. Here is where you goofed. You started talking about all the possible other women out there that Leonard could be with but doesn't have a history with. The whole point of this post (starting with the original poster) is that Penny is the best out of all the women Leonard has actually had relationships with.
I just watched a video of the scene where Penny gets fired from the movie and suggests that they get married, and Leonard pulls a ring out of his wallet. I was shocked at the number of people in the comments who said that while Leonard has been in love with her since the moment he laid eyes on her, she was never in love with him, even though she may love him deeply, she's not "in love" with him. I would say that anyone who thinks that clearly forgot about this scene. In my experience, a woman like Penny does NOT save an entire box full of little mementos of a variety of sweet gestures Leonard has given her over the years unless she loves him too, in the same way. Penny is a beautiful woman, at least by most Western standards, and she most certainly has options as far as men to date, men much more conventionally attractive than Leonard. So that box of collected memories, starting before they ever became a couple, speaks volumes about how she really feels about Leonard. She has always been very aware of how much of a crush he had on her, and generally speaking, she has appreciated and even enjoyed the attention, even when she didn't reciprocate the feeling. There's a plethora of little clues sprinkled through the first couple seasons, before they became a couple, that showcase this. Most of them are subtle or "blink and you'll miss it" things but they are present. It may have taken her a long time to realize that Leonard is the guy for her, and some might feel like she doesn't really love him, that she just settled for a guy who would be "safe"... But I think it's just a matter of her slowly realizing over the years of friendship that despite Leonard not being her usual "type", in terms of physicality/personality, he's everything else she's always wanted in a man. And, just as Leonard has his insecurities about how he measures up to her usual choices in men (again, physicality/personality) she too has her insecurities about the ways she might not be good enough for Leonard, namely her education or lack thereof. There's an entire episode in season two about her being afraid that Leonard might one day get bored with her because she's not an intellectual like he and his friends are. And that was after they went on just one date. She knows Leonard finds her beautiful and desirable but she's genuinely afraid of the possibility that SHE might not measure up to HIS standards. And I think that too speaks volumes about how she really feels about Leonard. The idea that Leonard might one day reject her because she's not on his level intellectually terrifies her because she's aware of how much she'd be hurt if Leonard of all people were to one day reject her. She has loved Leonard almost from the very beginning, not at first sight like him, but certainly not too long after that... She just didn't realize how deeply she would eventually love him, and be in love with him.
I too loved Hitchhiker’s growing up. I ran into a friend on campus who had just finished interviewing Douglas Adams for the college paper. We hustled back so I could meet him but he’d left already. Short time later he passed away. Still kills me I missed the chance to talk to him.
I love all the characters of the Big Bang theory and the show. I especially like Leonard and penny’s relationship because it’s genuine and real. These two really loved each other, this is love that only comes once in a lifetime. I would have loved to have seen them get married early on and have a baby and then the rest of the cast would follow.
Nathaniel James, actually they have a lot more in common than most people think. They're both incredibly patient individuals. They both cater to Sheldon's ridiculous requests. They both have big hearts. Penny is often seen defending the group, while Leonard is the glue that keeps everyone, together. They both can learn from each other's differences, if it wasn't for Penny, Leonard wouldn't have gotten all of his confidence while without Leonard, Penny would've never pushed herself to try harder. They both compliment each other and will always be my number 1 ship. #LeonardandPenny
@Nathaniel James No. Actually, it's not forced. They are more than the beauty and the geek. They are the couple my DH and I identify with. Although neither of us is the beauty. O Mondo do Pitcat Rachel and Ross had more passion and problems they had to overcome than this couple has. It was more emotional, intense and lasted longer. Plus they had a longer time apart to grow and mature.
yet this couple copied a lot of character development from ross and rachel
Dammit, they were on a break!!! Cut them some slack.
I have been penny in this situation... it feels like shit

It's disappointing they didn't show the snowflake from the north pole.
That came up in another episode, the one where Leonard asks her out after Sheldon got that Spock cutout thing...
Rachel did this for Ross
