I'm from Barcelona, but I've been living in Bratislava for 2 years and I LOVE IT! Thanks for the vid! Maybe one of the spots that I missed in it was Slavín Monument - the place is pretty cool, and the views from there are awesome too, especially at night :)

@@samuelandaudrey you should definitely come to Košice. And while ur there go 1,5 hours east and visit Lubovniansky hrad. (Ľubovňa castle). There is so much to see in the castle, you won't be disappointed.

Good stuff guys! I am happy you enjoyed my home town. I live in the suburbs and work in automotive just outside the city as well, so I rarely visit the centre anymore and youve just inspired me to do so more :) Have fun whereever youre now
Next month I'm going to do an Erasmus semester in Bratislava and I started looking at videos about touristic attractions and food, as I especially love to explore a country by its dishes, so I'll definitely try most of the meals you had and I'm really excited about the other beautiful places Bratislava and Slovakia generally offers! 😍 (P.S I'm a beer and wine drinker, so I have to try Slovak versions as well 😁)

Saw a re-enactment of the battle of Bratislava in the park under the UFO bridge, in my video. Looks like you guys found plenty to do staying longer and all that great food....
For the next time in Bratislava I can also recommend a summer bar in Devínska Nová Ves (bus 20, 21, 29) between "Novoveská" and "uhrovecka" on the street "Na Myte". It has the name "Bar Gríl Tenís" and is located in the street where the bicycle bridge "Most Slobody" to the Austrian castle courtyard begins !!!!!
Glad to see you went to see KHL match even though it didn't look very packed...when it's full the atmosphere is amazing! Marián Hossa happens to be my distant family btw. His grandpa is my neighbour too:') Anyway, I always appreciate when people spend more than few hours in Bratislava. And even better if they go visit the rest of the country;) (hope you can do that one day) As for other tips...Slavín, Železná Studnička that can be combined with taking the lift to Kamzík, Rača (esp.) during the wine festival, Žitný ostrov, Danubiana, Slovak National Gallery is always doing great exhibitions and it is free, ZOO and Botanical garden are also options...and I personally like to visit cemeteries when I travel (yes) so I would recommend Ondrejský cintorín and Cintorín Kozia brána too (especially around All Saints Day).
Thanks! I think the team has potential and good D and goaltending but kind of weak forwards this season. Hopefully they can make some trades. That is very cool you're related to Marián Hossa. I miss him playing for the Blackhawks. They're struggling this season without him. Ah, we'd love to visit more of the country next time. Appreciate the suggestions.

nice videos, glad that you experienced Bratislava in more depth and had such a great time :) maybe if you ever do a more nature-leaned rural exploration i suggest you visit more castles in central Slovakia (we have most castles per capita in world after all) ... most of them are along Vah river but i would personally pick for you Bojnice castle, Orava castle (with booked river ride under it) and Spiš (Spish) castle (the most widest in Central Europe), coupled with visit to the most densely wonder-packed and the smallest mountain range in Europe called High Tatras. Or Low Tatras just south of them. May or may not end it in the thermal Aquapark Tatralandia. Hi Sam and Audrey! Greetings from India, Namaste! I am planning to go to bratislava in October this year. Next time you visit Bratislava kindly include Slovak Radio Building and Freedom Square. Till then enjoy.
Going to Vienna in a month, and I REALLY want to get out to Bratislava. Would Devin Castle and Bratislava Castle be doable in one day, with a timeline of having to return to Vienna by 5 p.m. realistic??
Just for when you guys get around to doing your Q&A, here's another question ;) How do you decide which city/country to travel to? How do you decide how long you're going to stay?
Thanks! Great question. If we do a video we'll go into more detail but it is usually a combination of proximity to the next place (we prefer shorter travel days), personal interest and places that we think will be interesting for our viewers. We tend to travel slower than most others to balance work and travel. A week is preferred, bigger cities we might spend 10 days and smaller places just a few nights.
Loving your videos Audrey and Samuel.. :) very informative.. plus I love that you're so 'in love' with food xD Hey tell me, was it in October that you were in Bratislava? Was it very cold?

Haha, so much fun watching you guys explore the places we know so well :) I am originally from Bratislava and my wife is from Trnava (city nearby). Too bad we no longer live there, we would have given you a locals tour. I guess you got bored pretty quickly as Bratislava isn't filled with things to do but you for sure missed a few. Kamzik tower has a great (and affordable) restaurant. Also zelezna studienka is pretty cool for hiking. But there's one secret spot that you would for sure have loved. It's an old military station from a soviet era that is open (slightly questionably) for urban exploration. It's an amazing place. Google "raketova zakladna bratislava" if you want to check it out.
Thank you! That is cool to hear. We actually had a great time. We didn't have much time to be out exploring to be honest and loved the food scene and just having a comfortable apartment to get some work done. When we did go out we really enjoyed it and going to hockey game was a huge bonus...lol Oh, that looks awesome. Had we gone there we could have made a whole vlog about it. Thanks for the restaurant recommendations as well.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. It's definitely good enough for a few days visit but obviously it's not such a big city so not that much to do. Whereabouts are you heading now?

It adds cool personal value to these videos for me. Looking forward to seeing more and as mentioned before, get in touch if you end up near Gibraltar. We actually came back from Tokyo few days back. Was pretty awesome as well. More and more it feels like we'll end up living in Asia sooner or later.
hi there! we're in our semi-retirement years who were born & raised in the Philippines but currently living in the US for more than 35 years now. Our next trip after Tokyo (our first time) at christmas time this year will be in the eastern europe hopefully late April to early May next year. Bratislava is on our sight and also including Budapest, Vienna and Prague. Are these places "doable" in like, 3 weeks? How many days do you think is practical to get a fix of Bratislava?

Great video, helpful insight into decent cafes, would be useful if you could break down the price for each menu item, e.g. the 18 Euro breakfast, but not biggie. Great long video for a long stay ther.e
I lived there for a year, and I would like to add the walk to the liberation monument as a suggestion, and of course do a little bit of hiking in the hills. For the rest not too much to do for tourists :)
I would say English is spoken by most people working in the tourism industry, so hotels, restaurants, tour operators, etc. We didn't have any trouble getting around.
I can confirm that this is definitely not a rip off, I´m Bratislava´s local and I personally go there and It´s just more "luxurious" restaurant because of the location :)

I lived there for a year, and I would like to add the walk to the liberation monument as a suggestion, and of course do a little bit of hiking in the hills. For the rest not too much to do for tourists :)
Thanks! Those are relaly good tips.
How long did you stay there
나도 기회가 되는데로 슬로바키아로 여행가고 싶다.
Cut the food scenes and set speed 1.25 and it s a great video.
Thanks!
hey Sam, where's the Jaipur Tshirt from?
Rohit, India.
Thanks! Picked it up when visiting in early 2017 :)
01:36 so you just caught the sheep pooping on camera
Do you think I can see Devin castle, Bratislava Castle and the Historic center in 1 day?
It would be a busy day but possible Juan.
Hello there! :) Do You plan to come again? I would love to be Your guide next time! :) We have guestroom at ours ;) Let me know if You would be in! ;)
Thank you very much! Would love to revisit someday.
Is Romania your next destination?
Slovenia is next for us :)
Loved the Slovakia videos :) shame about St. Martin's Cathedrals maybe next time.
Thank you! We seem to have bad luck with visiting churches, museums and other landmarks when they're closed ;)
Lol i'm sure you'll come back one day may i ask where are you guys heading too next?
Slovenia is next up :)
Awesome can't wait.
💜
Thanks! :)
Just don't try putting Devin Castle into your sat nav. You might end up in the English west country ;)
Meals may be pricy but its worth it
18eur for the late breakfast and with the yummy cheese fruit cake it's definitely worth it. The earlier meal at 42eur is robbery.
Thanks Brett! That was good value.
Im sorry to sound ignorant: Is English spoken there by a lot of people?
I would say English is spoken by most people working in the tourism industry, so hotels, restaurants, tour operators, etc. We didn't have any trouble getting around.
Slavin?
Btw: the food you got shudn't cost more then 25€ and the restaurant is turist trap locals can't afort buying the food there
Thanks for letting us know.
I can confirm that this is definitely not a rip off, I´m Bratislava´s local and I personally go there and It´s just more "luxurious" restaurant because of the location :)
