- What you need to backflush
One-cup filter basket (included with the espresso machine)
Blind basket: amzn.to/3lkIxFH
Cleaning tablets: amzn.to/3YcOtiP
Backflush process
Put the three parts into the portafilter, lock it in the brew head, and hit the brew button. The pressure will build in the portafilter with the blind basket until the solenoid valve releases the backflush into the drip tray. Run this five times to dissolve the cleaning tablet. Then backflush several more times with clean water (use the blind basket without a cleaning tablet).

Wow! Perfect for coffee lovers
Breville ships now with a cleaning disk/rubber stopper that has a hole in the middle, so all the water will end up going through the portafilter instead of through the back. If you contact them, they should send you a proper back flush cleaning disk without the hole.
Noted!
The new ones should come without the small hole.
@@talloncote2520just got my breville barista touch yesterday. It has a small hole and doesn’t back flush and just goes through the portafilter.
If you use the dual wall single shot basket with the rubber stopper thingy it will back flush properly
Can I use a bottomless filter to do this?
Yes, bottomless works. Just use a one-cup filter basket and blind basket.
@@craftcoffeespot Thanks!!!
I’ve had my breville barista pro for like 5 years. When I run flush it almost always pours through the bottom. From the looks of this video it’s been doing it wrong all along.
I assume it’s because of the gasket that they gave? It shouldn’t have a hole in it?
You need to blind basket - you can find a link to from the video description. It's a cheap buy and will help you do a proper backflush.
Make sure it has no holes on the bottom. Water should not come out.
@@craftcoffeespot thanks!!
Does anyone know how to actually get in contact with someone from the company? My machine is a little over a month old and I did a back flush and it leaked everything out from under the machine. I had the drip tray in and everything. 😢
Did you go to Breville.com and try their support? They have a couple ways to get in touch. That's disappointing to hear.
@@craftcoffeespot Yea, I’m still waiting to hear back from them :/ their chat option is never available. The phone line always disconnects. I have done 2 support tickets as well.
@@cidneericapa4785 sorry to hear that. Let me know if you are able to get in touch with them.
@@craftcoffeespot I got in contact with them finally and they are replacing it.
@@cidneericapa4785 Good to know! Glad they got back to you.
