Nice vid steve. I am seeing the same thing. Some rings are XPD1 numbers(45-75), others with the XPD2 to 99. For example I found a gold ring marked .999, rang up, 99, threw me off. took it home, passed a 22k acid test no problem,and I gave the acid plenty of time to dissolve the gold, weighed in at 7.415 grams. Park mode, no tweaks. I did a little research and found that something called "rolled" gold, pure, can cause a detector to ring extremely high, well into the silver range. When I had the nox, was also told that gold can ring well into the silver zone as well, but not often. So I have concluded that I have no idea where gold will begin and end.(well the one gold ring pegged the scale) That low number you produced with the one ring, never seen one that low. That was an eye opener for me. Thx much Steve. Good info.
Thanks for the video I found a marked 24 ct gold ring in salt water with the Nox 800 and it came in a solid 18 which here in Australia can be a copper nickel 50 cent coin .I haven't got a Deus yet but it's really looking good performance in salt water. Thanks again

Just a little correction Gigmaster, 14 karat gold is not less than 50% it is .585 or approximately 58% pure gold (at 3:31) 24 karat is 100% pure gold 18 karat is .750 18 divided by 24 = 75% pure gold 14 karat is .585 14 divided by 24 = 58.5% pure 12 karat is half gold or 50% pure gold 12 divided by 24 10 karat is .416 pure gold or 10 divided by 24 is 41.6 % By law the percentage is not supposed to vary much from these numbers, if it is plumb gold, the percentages are closer to these numbers.
But now what about the effect on id numbers at depth? Does the Deus II keep id accuracy the deeper the target is? All the different vlf detectors that I have used over the years the id number got lower at lower depths. May want to keep that in mind on deep targets.

Gold can come up anywhere, all depending on the size and amount of gold content. DEUS I, W / elliptical can pick those chains, 95% of chains come in 30-40 including silver chains…
Well here's the problem you had the machine setting field I think I seen on the screen which is going to change the ID on that machine since you were hunting in the beach modes they change Beach mode Beach sensitive numbers all change for example of small gold chain is 31 small gold ring 35 small 10 karat gold 55 57 and 18 karat gold 65 I had a couple gold rings that were 58-38 60 and 40 when I change the settings on the machine from Beach 2 Beach sensitive or Beach P or whatever you are using then you have to do the test and that way when you go to the beach you'll know the numbers a little bit better on when you're hunting in what setting tested tested again you'll see what I mean that's why when you did to test you were using Beach mode and today you did a test in field mode am I correct and I think that's going to change the readout
I realize this is from 2022, but I noticed your custom program "1. Field" So it's based off of 1. General (40khz Max). Do you hunt the beach with this program? Would the numbers change if you actually tested using one of the Beach/Diving Programs? Prg 10. Diving is 14khz max, Prg. 11. Beach is 24khz max and finally Prg. 12 Beach Sens is 40khz max. Thanks!

I watched a similar video about Minelab Manticore and was surprised that XP Deus 2 is cheaper, and its discriminator definitely shows a more stable ID result than what Manticore shows. There is a ID spread from 20 to 89, which is absolutely pointless for a discriminator if it says by ID that it is aluminum, iron and anything, and it can also be gold. In this case, you will have to dig at every step. Therefore, XP Deus 2 is definitely better because of the discriminator. And also Deus 2 as I understand even sees chains very well! Manticore sees the same very poorly.
I know of 3 Manticores that have had water get in them too. Have not heard of any Deus 2 leaking. Charging the coil and the transfer wire on the Deus 2 is a pain if you water hunt though.

That is, if I set the discriminator on gold on the Tesoro Lobo Supertraq, then it reacts to any gold of different samples 333,585 and 750 in the same way and at the same time excludes all metal up to gold on the scale. This is brilliant! But when Manticore fools people, classifies gold as aluminum, then as foil, then as nickel, why is it needed at all??? Then everyone will be forced to dig every step along the way and dig up all the trash regardless of the display readings. The display and discriminator should help, not mislead people. And therefore, for me, Manticore is a highly overpraised and expensive device that does not meet the requirements and quality according to the declared data. Can you confirm my words about the stupid discriminator in Manticore or refute them? There is a video showing the result of the discriminator's work with ID with different objects. Gold and other metals lie on the same line with aluminum. If this is a technological breakthrough, then for me it is a disgrace to the technology in Manticore.

The numbers may vary slightly but the point here is gold has a wide range and you need to dig any consistent signal on the beach.
