- Watch as our talented paint shop team at Juniata Locomotive Shop bring the Thoroughbred Locomotive to life.
From start to finish, the process took approximately 430 hours, 10 carmen painters, and 75 gallons of paint to complete. The craftsmanship and skill of our Juniata team shines through in every detail. ✨🚂✨
To all our railroaders, thank you for your grit, heart, and drive that keep us moving the weight of the world.
Have you seen the Thoroughbred Locomotive out on the rails yet? Be sure to #ThankARailroader when you do!
The actual line employees work so hard to make NS run most times under very stressful conditions created by supervisors and management. Line NS Crews/Employees you have my total respect! It’s because of the ordinary NS crews and down in the trenches workers that NS keeps moving💪💪👍 OUTSTANDING JOB ON THE ENGINE👍👍👍
The Juniata locomotive shop did a great job changing it from a Frankenstein locomotive to the thoroughbred locomotive. They're definitely skilled when it comes to painting locomotives
Certainly beats Waycross!
I agree
*patch jobs:*
I must admit that I slowed the playback speed down and it was fun to watch. Such a beautiful livery!
It is too beautiful to put out in the weather. Fantastic job! Loved the video!!
I cant wait to see it out on the rails!
To all you Paint, Vinyl, Vector and Grunts, BRAVO! Most of us never work on anything bigger than a 53' Trailer, you guys get the Super Bowl! Well done video NS!
Honestly one of my favorite liveries. This along with the veterans and first responders locos are some of the best y’all have done.
Awesome video. I always love watching special units like this get painted. It’s really satisfying and fun.
Wow, fantastic job on the paint time lapse! You guys haven’t done one of these since the GoRail & Honoring our Veterans SD60Es I think. 4822 looks great with the red paint choice. Thank you NS and to all employees for all your hard work!
That’s is true and nice too the works. Nickel plate road heritage unit next.
Aaaaamazing!😊
This is awesome!! and they did great job on this locomotive, keep up the good work NS!!
Now THAT was cool!!!!!
wow this is very interesting! and a amazing paintjob!
Nice work NS keep it up
THAT LOCOMOTIVE IS SO COOL!!!!
That’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen!
Props to you guys for making this, keep making more unique paints
I like this unit can’t wait to see on the rails
Love my NS railroad. 💕
That is just a fantastic looking livery!
These guys from juniata shops are freaking awesom nice paint job
Excellent work! Glad to se such fine craftmanship! Sharp looking engine, respect to all involved.
That was awesome. Really cool. NS rules.
I was looking out my window yesterday and saw that loco roll by and I just thought “Hmm NS must’ve painted themselves another heritage unit hell yeah” and sure enough next day I see this video.
It's always so cool to me to watch anything old get a fresh coat of paint and then it looks brand spanking new again and no one would be none the wiser unless they looked inside
These workers did a great job on painting their newest locomotive
That's not a new one, it has to be at least 12 years old. The EPA tier 3 emission came into effect in 2012. A dash 9 doesn't meet it. They can still be produced, but not sold for use in this country.
No I mean it’s a rebuilt locomotive. At least it’s probably older than 12 years.
@@jonathanlarathetrainguy7788 rebuilt from Dash 9 #9516 original build date of 2-2001
And yes, it looks great!
And it looks cleaner than before!!!
I drive a subway train in Toronto. Absolutely love it. Stay safe brothers and sisters.
What a good looking Locomotive, will be looking for it on VR channel.
That's awesome
Can't wait to see this out in ho scale 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I'd like to see it in N scale as well! 😉
Black with red accents works every time...look at the 1960s batmobil!👌
Wow thank you. Wonderful to see and that is one of the best looking new schemes. I hope the all the model trains companies will make it. I'd love to have the decals already. Great job everyone and I can't wait for the next video.
This is a fantastic looking engine! Love the design!
Well done! 👍👍
Most beautiful paint schemes since the Southern Hreen
That's a lot of Testors Gloss coat to seal it all in ! :) :)
Can't wait to see it!
Absolutely gorgeous loco
Awesome work 👏 👌 and What team work on the whole job !
Very Kewl! 🚂🚃🚃
Great job 👏, but did anyone take notice of the American Flag 🇦🇸 on the Roof🤔😯???
Nice touch.
I Shure hope Lionel comes out with a copy of this one because I have to have one
FICOU MUITO BOM!!!
Only thing should've done different, instead of 4822, should have used 4812, for 4', 8 &1/2"
Other than that, it's great!
😮😮😮😮😮
How about doing maintainance on the tracks
Oh cool. Even without the time lapse, you gotta wonder how long it would take to paint a locomotive. I know I’d wonder how long it takes
To sand, do logo’s, & paint it, (for a black & white), about 5 days.
But a 150 + car train can only inspcted in 5 mins
NS ROCKS , csx SUX !!!
I saw this locomotive and missed it
You guys rendered the sd80mac’s extinct 😢😢😢😢😢
I'd would of love to see the top of cab red and the plow be red or a different color but overall good job but if it was up to me I'd add a little more
Former NS 9615
Garant vs. Norfolk Southern Railroad, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Manslaughter/Assault, and Fired Whistle Blower.
What shade of red did you all use for this? Is it the same red you used on the LV heritage unit?
Now Playing:
River Runs Deep by SLPSTRM
Thank you. Was hoping someone would nail it, and you did!
@@paulmatulavich7321 Thanks!
Technically I first heard it on Chena Verony and found a whole epic album worth listening to
Wonder does the engine have a working tolet .a frig or a big ticket item a microwave Did they leave the conductor and brakeman seats across the cab so they can stretched their legs
What eduction does one need to become a painter of locomotives?
“Labour does not contribute to profits”
Who pays for the paint job?
Wow.
Since When Does Trains need a fresh coat of paint on this railway For?.
what’s the point of this locomotive?
The fact they call this a thoroughbred is an insult bc the true thoroughbreds are the like 10 remaining NS Dash 9s in the original logo that will unfortunately eventually be rebuilt bc they just don't have enough AC44C6Ms
