The bit where UA-cam responded by giving Markiplier a strike after he said where's my strike, tells me that a human being saw that and got butthurt. A human being working for UA-cam is very much playing favorites and acting out of emotion.
UA-cam has human "moderators", they are there to promote more unfunny shit from things like SNL, or worse, James Corden. There was a video about the skewing of suggestions etc a while back that went into a lot of detail.

To add some insight on the appeal situation: there is no way there are actual humans behind that. I’ve had videos get taken down, and within literally 3 seconds of sending my appeal that’s supposed to be reviewed by a “human” the video goes back up. How would a “human reviewer” take literal seconds to review an 8 minute video? So broken

Thank you for talking about this dude. I left this comment on Cory's vid as well but yeah I agree that he definitely doesn't deserve that treatment but they do this to many others as well. From my personal experience doing UA-cam is like drawing out of a hat at times. Videos that have been up for month or even years will get age restricted even after being manually reviewed and UA-cam won't even tell you why they do it. I have also noticed that they have been giving age restrictions out more than usual lately because I see many other youtubers I follow talk about it on twitter. Just last month they age restricted a popular horror game on my channel that was up for months. They did the same thing to the UA-camr superhorrorbro on the same video which featured the same things. We both appealed yet mine got accepted and reversed while his did not and there is no explanation as to why. I think you and mark have both said this but there is no reason why they cant just give exact time stamps as well as the reason why they age restrict or demonetize videos. How else could we learn from mistakes if they don't tell us what the mistake is? They should also treat everyone equally as well but if I had to guess, they have tons of people that go through the videos and some may have different opinions which would explain why this stuff happens. I wish we knew more about that process but I can only imagine that someone is just sitting in a cubicle somewhere just watching videos all day. I wouldn't be surprised if not all those people are good people either but there is no way to truly know that. Just like the advancements with the copyright tools we just need more advancement in the review process and making sure that there is a level playing field for everyone on UA-cam.
I have a theory on that. What if alot of these flags come from user-submitted reports? If that's the case, then all these false flags are automated from users who keep posting different time stamps and different reasons. That means it's impossible to be accurate. Not if there is no human actually involved in the process of actually faulting the channel. When you think about how youtube works, it kinda adds up that it would be automated like everything else. I don't believe there is a review process at all.
One terrifying thing is that if the UA-camr in question doesn't have a few million subs. No one including UA-cam could care less. Meaning that if you can't rally your viewers. You just have to take the punch

So many large creators all questioning the same things and all receiving the same response from UA-cam, silence. Then you have the much more drastic, age restriction/demonetization/try to silence any creator that asks questions they don't want to answer. Even if it snowballs they'll still ignore it till it blows over. And it will, people will stop caring after a few weeks and the "yt is bad" videos will go back to the less popular part off yt. You see it happen all the time with big companies that fuck up big time. People will call them out and in some cases even take to the streets to protest. And what do these companies do? They ignore it because it will blow over 99.9% off the time even if it takes a while
The crazy part in all of this is that UA-cam is completely ignoring anything that is said about Cory on Twitter, which is doing nothing but proving his point even more.
As a regular watcher of MXR, I've noticed that something similar happens with them. They build up their channel, things go smoothly, and then they get a struck. They get it fixed, build back up, and when things go smoothly again for some months, they get hit again. Just recently, they got their whole channel demonetized for no reason. I'm starting to think UA-cam has a tier system. They will let you grow only so big and successful and when you start getting too big for the tier they put you in, they slap you down.

The fact that Cory is literally one of the most genuine people on UA-cam, i've watched him for years and this age restriction stuff on a horror game he played but youtube won't do it on people who shake their ass or be mean to others in purpose is just sad. He deserves so much recognition he's amazing
UA-cam could deadass just say "Sorry about the whole ordeal, you've recieved a large influx of reports, and our automated response system takes that weight into account when reviewing videos. After reviewing the video manually, we have discerned that the reports are false reports, and have lifted the restrictions. We apologize for the inconvenience!" and that would be better than what they're doing now.

@@rakijr9176 I don’t think you watched this video or even Cory’s video if you don’t see how that’s a possibility. 1) yes it’s just an age restriction, but it’s an age restriction that seemingly no one else got, and one that he appealed and was rejected for. 2) after his UA-cam rep came back and told him “it may have to do with this part” he went and found that same part in Mark’s vid that wasn’t age restricted, sent the clip to UA-cam and only then did they lift the age restriction off his vid. 3) after that situation was “resolved” from UA-cam’s perspective Cory rightfully sent an email asking why he needed to verify his innocence based on another creator’s video, isn’t that what the appeal process is for? Also you’d think youtube would have an actual person reviewing Cory’s appeals at least since he’s a creator with 14mil subs. 4) after the email a couple days go by and then UA-cam decides to re age restrict both Cory and Mark’s vids probably to try and signal to him like “hey we’re enforcing the letter of the rules fairly now” but that just made the situation worse. And don’t say Cory immediately jumped to racism, youtube is dogshit at explaining themselves so it’s left for him to speculate. It has to either be favouritism (which is odd considering how ad friendly Cory is), racism, or a mix of both. And he openly said if UA-cam comes yo him with a good explanation he was apologize immediately.
I think its more to do with too many people making decisions. UA-cam has hundreds of people checking videos, and there are so many videos being uploaded they cant check them all. UA-cam workers are going to have different standards. I dont think people understand what a monumental task it is to police and check videos. I think the claims of racism or sexism are silly. Age restricting one video out of hundreds of videos isnt going to harm a creator. All creators have issues with UA-cam.
This! It's far more likely UA-cam is simply too big & has to be selective with it's human management vs automated. Still no excuse for how creators are treated, but screaming racism is disingenuous in this situation. When the fault is relying on a very bad algorithm to be responsible for what humans ideally should be but can't due to the sites size.

i have been a fan of markiplier’s since his early days on youtube. and can confirm youtube has given him a LOT of slack. but that strike situation was unreal, super fucked up. i love mark for staying humble and always looking out for other creators. this is sad as hell. seriously wtf. cory isn’t someone i was familiar with previously, but he’s gained a subscriber. he seems lovely, just as much as mark. the power dynamics youtube gives with favoritism is depressing.
It's pretty obvious UA-cam owes Cory an apology, he's one of the most advertising-friendly youtubers on the platform and does not deserve to be treated like this.
They need to do much more than that imo. They need to fire that "human" who reviewed the bot stat. They were obviously not interested in doing their job and this happens all the time. Why UA-cam keeps someone who sucks at their job and only tarnishes their name is beyond me. I'm with Charlie here, there's no chance that any human reads any of the appeals, they're all relegated to a faulty and limited robot.

They don't look at age restriction or deletion appeals. My 45 minute video was deleted. I appealed it and I swear to god, within one minute it was immediately rejected. Why do they claim that a human manually reviews it, if this clearly isn't the case?

Mark did a "try not to get age-restricted challenge" which seems to be his attempt at showing the points cory was tryna make. At the very least it seems UA-cam took it that way since they CUT HIS SEGMENT in GameOn after using him to promote it !!!! And they also gave Sean very little time as well. It feels very much like they took Marks video as him taking Corys side (which is very likely to be the case honestly) and suddenly cut his segment last minute without telling him; he found out through watching it. I'm a Markiplier fan but that video is not as much of a gotcha as people try to make it out to be. He's been youtube's golden boy for years and he knows it. Mark can get away with a lot more than other creators, it's not exactly breaking news. Also, the ork video is deliberately edited in a way that really doesn't make age restriction necessary. If he had uploaded it unedited that would be another story entirely.

exact same thing happened to plagued moth. he requested an appeal about an 18 minute video, they got back to him after 5 minutes. there's just no way they looked through all of it in about a third of the video's actual lengths
There's definite favoritism, but with youtube using reports from users to look at videos as well, it only takes a few racists to spam reports then UA-cam is suddenly taken a much closer look at black creators. Not justifying UA-cam not having a better system, but I feel like this is probably a substantial part of the issue.
Absolutely it is all guess work. Been singing on YT since 2007. Got demonetized for "reused content" a month ago. Appealed it with a video showing my creative process. Denied within 24 hours. Reapplied Monday gone, rejected again within 24 hours. No idea what the reused content is 'cause they don't tell you. I have 1k+ videos. How tf are we supposed to know what is causing the issue? The sad part about this is YT isn't gonna listen until Mark's video comes out, I can guarantee. His position is so heartbreaking to me, watching all his friends be unfairly punished even if that means he's getting the best treatment. Mark's video is already out! And 19 hours after upload, it still isn't age-restricted (despite the pornographic nature of the game he was playing); which further proves the point Cory is making. Now we know, without a doubt, that there IS some sort of favoritism on UA-cam's part. Mark is supporting other creators in his own Mark way and it's surprisingly effective.
How the hell did Susan *deny* an absolute fact of a possibility? Instead of saying, "Oh it's unfortunately a possibility, but we take every measure to ensure that anyone that we feel who treats certain folks unfairly based on biases are terminated or removed from the company" or at least TRY to make an effort to confront their obvious favoritism? There is no possible way you can run a fucking gigantic company and know that everyone on your team isn't 100% racist or biased. Statistically, it isn't even possible- it's factual. It would be very easy for articles to start saying "There are racists in UA-cams staff" and take the clip out of context. Sucks but that's just the way the world works

UA-cam banned my other account for "scamming". It's a "robux giveaway, etc." But it's really legit and not a scam. I have proof that I give/gave someone robux. Other context creators does that too! They didn't get banned but they literally scam kids!

Why would The Act Man’s channel be demonetized when he was bringing awareness to the false copyright strikes against creators and a channel dozing other creators and that creator calling his mother over this? Cory’s a pretty chill dude so when he gets (rightfully) upset and talks about certain topics, it’s a _genuine_ issue. The UA-cam algorithm is infamous for absolutely screwing over small UA-camrs and even big ones (like Cory) by striking their videos, age-restricting them, or even outright removing a content creator’s video without going into detail how something wrong to violate UA-cam policies (which, in many cases, can be absolutely nothing due to it being screened by an auto mod if that or just UA-cam flunking out). UA-cam needs to get itself together and the only reason why it’s allowing this extent of “mistakes” is because the UA-cam team knows that it’s mostly uncontested as one of the great video social media sites.
I've seen multiple smaller channels made by poc having the same problems, but they cant start a trend and get to number one trending, this stuff sucks.

Not to defend UA-cam, but the copyright issues have more to do with the actual copyright law being broken as opposed to UA-cam's implementation of it. Don't get me wrong, UA-cam could still do better, but most of the problem is with copyright laws not being updated for modern times.

The creator can still see the amount of dislikes a video gets anyway in UA-cam Studio. Hiding the count on the video itself does nothing for "Creators Mental Health" if they can still see the exact dislike count in UA-cam Studio.
This is even worse when you realize videos Cory has had videos on his channel for years, such as Mortal Kombat gameplay, are just now being age restricted and taken down. These are some of his most popular videos too. So why does UA-cam bother to age restrict these videos after already being viewed in the tens of millions and all these years later? Even though Cory complained over 2 years ago this stuff is still wildly happening.

There is a UA-cam that I watched who talked about their experience having a prosthetic leg. and she would show the stub of where her leg used to be. and it wasn't at all gory, no blood just a stump. yet UA-cam took her content down for being "Too disturbing". and keep in mind the only reason she did that was so she could show how normal it is and to spread awareness for people like herself.

Favoritism is really prominent on this platform. I’ve had multiple creators have their videos re-monetized after using the UA-cam editor the remove “guideline breaking” parts of the video. But when I did it for 4 videos, UA-cam support told me in 4 different occasions that i wasn’t allowed to do that and fully demonetized my videos.
I know right, and the people they did this same thing to long before this who weren't black were actually just paid actors all along to make it look like YT doesn't have biases! It all makes sense now! Thank god Cory did this expert detective work

But let me explain something to you, as I've had a little past experience with UA-cam, the reason mark wasn't age restricted is because they saw Corys video first Because HE WAS NUMBER ONE ON TRENDING. no wonder 🤔 Corys video got restricted first Because he was number 1, so they SAW HIS VIDEO FIRST. The fact this escalated to racism is outrageous to me. NOT ONLY are you in UA-cam's cross hairs at that point, but they have the barrel pointed at your cranium with they're finger on the trigger. The moment your at the top they're analyzing you 100 fold just so your as perfect as possible, so when he's treated different at the top it makes no sense to me that other people don't understand why.

Big ups to Charlie for bringing attention to this. I said it on Cory’s video and I’ll say it again: I think it’s real interesting that Logan got a cookie and pat on the head for uploading a video of a 💀 body, yet things like this “coincidentally” keep happening. Ann Reardon received a similar treatment recently when her video that was _saving lives_ (but also heavily criticized UA-cam) was removed. It’s a pattern of behavior we’ve been seeing for years. And whether it’s an algorithm or not, someone is directly responsible for the way this system behaves and decides who gets gassed up and who gets nixed.

It's unfortunate that Google owns UA-cam - I genuinely feel that the platform is too big to fail right now which gives them very little motive to actually take these things seriously. UA-cam has been making a ton of decisions that piss off it's creators and even when big UA-camrs like Charlie and Cory speak out, the effort that YT puts into make any change in the platform is minimal (or often, none). Which makes small UA-camrs such as myself wonder how insignificant our voice really is.
The problem is that there is no other platform where all the content creators are. People like having their stuff all in one place. That is slowly changing though as youtube has been overstepping it's boundries, particularly in the political sphere. I mean sure maybe fortnite gamers don't care about youtube censorship, all they have to do is not swear in the first minute of a video or whatever but with the blatant censorship and favouritism (which youtube have openly admitted to by the way) and completely unjustified way they go after channels often on the say so of report spam from politically interested parties, people are starting to upload to other platforms. And there is a point where it reaches critical mass that people can spend a majority of their time on another platform and find most of what they want there, that will be when youtube will be in danger.
With Cory's and Act Man's situations being so prominent lately, it's becoming increasingly clear that UA-cam needs to either change some shit, or we all need to leave the platform.
We need to relocate people to a substitute then, and the problems are 1. not very many people know of the other sites, and 2. many people have been on here too long, and they're too stubborn to want to relocate because everything they know is on here.
here's the issue, theres not many youtube substitute out there. i can only think of bilibili and niconicodouga, but they're made with a specific regional audience in mind. the fact that youtube somewhat monopolize video streaming services is awful, most people have no choice.
UA-cam needs a legitimate competitor. They know they have a virtual monopoly for what they do, so there aren’t real stakes when they screw up. Where else are people gonna go besides UA-cam?

The most telling thing about the pettiness of the whole situation is thay ure decision to restrict Mark's video along with it and most likely only him. I'm supremely confident that the same scene is still readily available on every playthrough of this game that isn't either of these two. The problem was not fixed, they just tried to cover up the example. Edit: Jacksepticeye made a video confirming that restrictions were put on him and other creators. However, my point still stands as the reverse is true in that case. Instead of working to unrestrict others with the same scene, they only did it for Cory and did not show any intention of reversing the decision over all.

Another thing not mentioned about appeals. I've had occasions when I've taken what they have said on board, made the change to counter it and then they reject the appeal by giving an entirely new reason. They just move the goal posts
I think part of the problem is also that UA-cam entrusts a massive part of this rating and appeals process to an ever revolving door of contractors that dont even directly work for them. They likely have carte blanche to err on the side of censorship (based on their own opinions) but then appeals against the censorship need to be kicked up to someone who actually has authority to approve it. System needs real improvement..
The lack of due process on UA-cam and other social media platforms has gone beyond unacceptable. For a video to be removed, age-restricted etc, the exact action and policy broken MUST be declared. To the line in the ToS that was violated, and the exact part in the video that violates it. How can the accused defend themselves when they don't even know what they are being accused of? The appeals process MUST be decided by a third party, whether that be a separate company or a jury of creator peers. Neither UA-cam nor the accused creator should be able to decide the result of an appeal. Currently UA-cam is like a robber, and the robbery victims have to appeal to the robber and ask that the robber be found guilty of robbery. How could anyone be surprised that justice doesn't exist in such a system? Until these two rules are enforced on social media companies, we stand absolutely zero chance of having equal enforcement platforms where creators are treated fairly under the rules. Those rules do not guarantee such equality, but it is impossible without them.
Too bad they'd probably just point to some line in the ToS saying they can take down videos or channels/commit some penal action against someone for whatever reason they so desire. Can't remember if that kind of line is in it but I wouldn't be surprised

To add some insight on the appeal situation: there is no way there are actual humans behind that. I’ve had videos get taken down, and within literally 3 seconds of sending my appeal that’s supposed to be reviewed by a “human” the video goes back up. How would a “human reviewer” take literal seconds to review an 8 minute video? So broken

I left this comment on Cory's vid as well but yeah I agree that he definitely doesn't deserve that treatment but they do this to many others as well.
From my personal experience doing UA-cam is like drawing out of a hat at times. Videos that have been up for month or even years will get age restricted even after being manually reviewed and UA-cam won't even tell you why they do it. I have also noticed that they have been giving age restrictions out more than usual lately because I see many other youtubers I follow talk about it on twitter.
Just last month they age restricted a popular horror game on my channel that was up for months. They did the same thing to the UA-camr superhorrorbro on the same video which featured the same things. We both appealed yet mine got accepted and reversed while his did not and there is no explanation as to why.
I think you and mark have both said this but there is no reason why they cant just give exact time stamps as well as the reason why they age restrict or demonetize videos. How else could we learn from mistakes if they don't tell us what the mistake is?
They should also treat everyone equally as well but if I had to guess, they have tons of people that go through the videos and some may have different opinions which would explain why this stuff happens. I wish we knew more about that process but I can only imagine that someone is just sitting in a cubicle somewhere just watching videos all day. I wouldn't be surprised if not all those people are good people either but there is no way to truly know that.
Just like the advancements with the copyright tools we just need more advancement in the review process and making sure that there is a level playing field for everyone on UA-cam.

I have a theory on that. What if alot of these flags come from user-submitted reports? If that's the case, then all these false flags are automated from users who keep posting different time stamps and different reasons. That means it's impossible to be accurate. Not if there is no human actually involved in the process of actually faulting the channel.

As a regular watcher of MXR, I've noticed that something similar happens with them. They build up their channel, things go smoothly, and then they get a struck. They get it fixed, build back up, and when things go smoothly again for some months, they get hit again. Just recently, they got their whole channel demonetized for no reason. I'm starting to think UA-cam has a tier system. They will let you grow only so big and successful and when you start getting too big for the tier they put you in, they slap you down.

Cory doesn’t deserve this. He’s been around for so long and always made quality stuff. I fucking hate to see UA-cam do this and then hide from their own creators when they ask what’s going on.
It's not like they deleted his channel, all they did was age restrict a video. That could be accredited to a flawed automated system and an employee that lacks discretion. It's also kind of annoying how he immediately jumped to racism as the cause of the issue. If UA-cam was racist, he wouldn't have anywhere near 14 million subs. This whole thing seems completely blown out of proportion.

1) yes it’s just an age restriction, but it’s an age restriction that seemingly no one else got, and one that he appealed and was rejected for.
2) after his UA-cam rep came back and told him “it may have to do with this part” he went and found that same part in Mark’s vid that wasn’t age restricted, sent the clip to UA-cam and only then did they lift the age restriction off his vid.
3) after that situation was “resolved” from UA-cam’s perspective Cory rightfully sent an email asking why he needed to verify his innocence based on another creator’s video, isn’t that what the appeal process is for? Also you’d think youtube would have an actual person reviewing Cory’s appeals at least since he’s a creator with 14mil subs.
4) after the email a couple days go by and then UA-cam decides to re age restrict both Cory and Mark’s vids probably to try and signal to him like “hey we’re enforcing the letter of the rules fairly now” but that just made the situation worse.
And don’t say Cory immediately jumped to racism, youtube is dogshit at explaining themselves so it’s left for him to speculate. It has to either be favouritism (which is odd considering how ad friendly Cory is), racism, or a mix of both. And he openly said if UA-cam comes yo him with a good explanation he was apologize immediately.
The fact that Suzy won't even entertain human error being a factor is hilarious people aren't perfect. There is def favoritism and more going on.

I think its more to do with too many people making decisions. UA-cam has hundreds of people checking videos, and there are so many videos being uploaded they cant check them all. UA-cam workers are going to have different standards. I dont think people understand what a monumental task it is to police and check videos. I think the claims of racism or sexism are silly. Age restricting one video out of hundreds of videos isnt going to harm a creator. All creators have issues with UA-cam.
This! It's far more likely UA-cam is simply too big & has to be selective with it's human management vs automated. I'm a Markiplier fan but that video is not as much of a gotcha as people try to make it out to be. He's been youtube's golden boy for years and he knows it. Mark can get away with a lot more than other creators, it's not exactly breaking news. Also, the ork video is deliberately edited in a way that really doesn't make age restriction necessary. If he had uploaded it unedited that would be another story entirely.

exact same thing happened to plagued moth. he requested an appeal about an 18 minute video, they got back to him after 5 minutes. there's just no way they looked through all of it in about a third of the video's actual lengths
There's definite favoritism, but with youtube using reports from users to look at videos as well, it only takes a few racists to spam reports then UA-cam is suddenly taken a much closer look at black creators. Not justifying UA-cam not having a better system, but I feel like this is probably a substantial part of the issue.

Reapplied Monday gone, rejected again within 24 hours. No idea what the reused content is 'cause they don't tell you. I have 1k+ videos. How tf are we supposed to know what is causing the issue? Cory’s a pretty chill dude so when he gets (rightfully) upset and talks about certain topics, it’s a _genuine_ issue. The UA-cam algorithm is infamous for absolutely screwing over small UA-camrs and even big ones (like Cory) by striking their videos, age-restricting them, or even outright removing a content creator’s video without going into detail how something wrong to violate UA-cam policies (which, in many cases, can be absolutely nothing due to it being screened by an auto mod if that or just UA-cam flunking out). UA-cam needs to get itself together and the only reason why it’s allowing this extent of “mistakes” is because the UA-cam team knows that it’s mostly uncontested as one of the great video social media sites.
I've seen multiple smaller channels made by poc having the same problems, but they cant start a trend and get to number one trending, this stuff sucks.

The copyright system is more due to the us copyright laws are so outdated
Not to defend UA-cam, but the copyright issues have more to do with the actual copyright law being broken as opposed to UA-cam's implementation of it. Don't get me wrong, UA-cam could still do better, but most of the problem is with copyright laws not being updated for modern times.

Favoritism is really prominent on this platform. I’ve had multiple creators have their videos re-monetized after using the UA-cam editor the remove “guideline breaking” parts of the video. But when I did it for 4 videos, UA-cam support told me in 4 different occasions that i wasn’t allowed to do that and fully demonetized my videos.
Look at what you post. They probably don’t want to tell you they think your videos are shit.
The youtube policy team be like: "If we dont say anything at all, then they can never have substantial evidence to prove our bias!"

I grew up on early 2010’s UA-cam and learned how to curse by watching sky does Minecraft and Smosh. I’m still a teen and I’ve been lying about my age on the platform since I was like 5 or 6 and I’ve never once considered using UA-cam kids because it’s all brain dead content.

I guarantee the only reason Markiplier isn't getting age restricted is because he has a series with them. UA-cam doesn't want him to look bad because he is repping the company.
He actually did get age restricted apparently (I watched jacksepticeyes video before, and he claimed Mark got restricted around the same time Cory did) edit, What i mean by same time Cory did, is the second time Cory got age restricted, not first.
If you try to watch Mark's part 3 it gives you a disclaimer about suicide/self harm.

Ok first of all it's been obvious for years mark is one of the yt favorites. But let me explain something to you, as I've had a little past experience with UA-cam, the reason mark wasn't age restricted is because they saw Corys video first Because HE WAS NUMBER ONE ON TRENDING. no wonder 🤔 Corys video got restricted first Because he was number 1, so they SAW HIS VIDEO FIRST. The fact this escalated to racism is outrageous to me. NOT ONLY are you in UA-cam's cross hairs at that point, but they have the barrel pointed at your cranium with they're finger on the trigger. The moment your at the top they're analyzing you 100 fold just so your as perfect as possible, so when he's treated different at the top it makes no sense to me that other people don't understand why.

I think the reason this escalated was because they removed after seeing Mark's video, then add it back and age restricted his after Cory called them out. If they age restricted both first when the clip was shown, it probably wouldn't have been this much of an issue.

I’m glad big creators are talking about this! I talked about this in my newest video, as I’ve been denied my play button for a community strike I’ve had for OVER 3 years (for reacting to a video still up and monetized on other UA-cam channels, might I add). The double standards and constant pressure to make viral content or have your performance suffer has really affected my motivation to make content

Big ups to Charlie for bringing attention to this. I said it on Cory’s video and I’ll say it again: I think it’s real interesting that Logan got a cookie and pat on the head for uploading a video of a 💀 body, yet things like this “coincidentally” keep happening. Ann Reardon received a similar treatment recently when her video that was _saving lives_ (but also heavily criticized UA-cam) was removed. It’s a pattern of behavior we’ve been seeing for years. And whether it’s an algorithm or not, someone is directly responsible for the way this system behaves and decides who gets gassed up and who gets nixed.

It's unfortunate that Google owns UA-cam - I genuinely feel that the platform is too big to fail right now which gives them very little motive to actually take these things seriously. UA-cam has been making a ton of decisions that piss off it's creators and even when big UA-camrs like Charlie and Cory speak out, the effort that YT puts into make any change in the platform is minimal (or often, none). Which makes small UA-camrs such as myself wonder how insignificant our voice really is.

The problem is that there is no other platform where all the content creators are. People like having their stuff all in one place. That is slowly changing though as youtube has been overstepping it's boundries, particularly in the political sphere. I mean sure maybe fortnite gamers don't care about youtube censorship, all they have to do is not swear in the first minute of a video or whatever but with the blatant censorship and favouritism (which youtube have openly admitted to by the way) and completely unjustified way they go after channels often on the say so of report spam from politically interested parties, people are starting to upload to other platforms. And there is a point where it reaches critical mass that people can spend a majority of their time on another platform and find most of what they want there, that will be when youtube will be in danger.
With Cory's and Act Man's situations being so prominent lately, it's becoming increasingly clear that UA-cam needs to either change some shit, or we all need to leave the platform.
We need to relocate people to a substitute then, and the problems are 1. not very many people know of the other sites, and 2. many people have been on here too long, and they're too stubborn to want to relocate because everything they know is on here.

The most telling thing about the pettiness of the whole situation is thay ure decision to restrict Mark's video along with it and most likely only him. I'm supremely confident that the same scene is still readily available on every playthrough of this game that isn't either of these two. The problem was not fixed, they just tried to cover up the example.
Edit: Jacksepticeye made a video confirming that restrictions were put on him and other creators. However, my point still stands as the reverse is true in that case. Instead of working to unrestrict others with the same scene, they only did it for Cory and did not show any intention of reversing the decision over all.

Another thing not mentioned about appeals. I've had occasions when I've taken what they have said on board, made the change to counter it and then they reject the appeal by giving an entirely new reason. They just move the goal posts

I think part of the problem is also that UA-cam entrusts a massive part of this rating and appeals process to an ever revolving door of contractors that dont even directly work for them. They likely have carte blanche to err on the side of censorship (based on their own opinions) but then appeals against the censorship need to be kicked up to someone who actually has authority to approve it. System needs real improvement..
The lack of due process on UA-cam and other social media platforms has gone beyond unacceptable.
For a video to be removed, age-restricted etc, the exact action and policy broken MUST be declared. To the line in the ToS that was violated, and the exact part in the video that violates it. How can the accused defend themselves when they don't even know what they are being accused of?
The appeals process MUST be decided by a third party, whether that be a separate company or a jury of creator peers. Neither UA-cam nor the accused creator should be able to decide the result of an appeal. Currently UA-cam is like a robber, and the robbery victims have to appeal to the robber and ask that the robber be found guilty of robbery. How could anyone be surprised that justice doesn't exist in such a system?
Until these two rules are enforced on social media companies, we stand absolutely zero chance of having equal enforcement platforms where creators are treated fairly under the rules. Those rules do not guarantee such equality, but it is impossible without them.
