How To Install A Forward Assist On An AR15

- I'm a little late this week but here we go! Today we tackle our forward assist! This one is pretty simple but we are still going to need some tools. You're going to need a punch set, roll pin starter, a mallet, and of course your forward assist kit.

I recommend installing it from underneath and the rear sight removed. This helps prevent readily visible nicks to the upper.

Your upper receiver and handguard arnt straight......
Aren’t*** and it was by the end of the series. No sights were mounted beyond the upper receiver anyways
Bought some high temp enamel spray paint ...in gloss white! Gonna put some sapphire rhinestone dots along the Nordic Components handguard 😊

I HATE roll pins. It takes me like an hour and a half to just get one started on a gas block
Yup. Then when they mushroom out it just sucks
@@thewadeoutdoorsright same here my forward assist. It’s in and caught but all mushroomed out and still needs to go in more
Just gotta take your time. Luckily those pins are cheap
Coiled pins are the way to go. I use SOLGW forward assist and gas tube coiled pins but I’m sure other brands are fine.
Basically the are spun up really tight in a snail shell type pattern and they tend to not mushroom during install.
Painting a rifle as a civilian is the equivalent of buy pre worn blue jeans. Don't do it.
All mine are black or factory FDE 😊
After I went through 1 FDE and 1 black gun I got bored so that’s how I got into spray painting my guns lol
@thewadeoutdoors I'm not setup to do a professional paint job at this time. Maybe a Durcoat from brownells in the future.
