I do find that the mats do tend to flex, which doesn’t happen off grass.Especially the feeling of slightly falling back during the swing.I would hasten to add that this does not happen when hitting off grass. Most range mats do not have a solid feel. But they are better than no practice.
you're not hitting it properly, probably sweeping/hitting the mat/ground first, you need to hit the ball and then the mat...grass provides better feedback (all those bad shots) and mats hide those mistakes.
most importantly, hitting the mat hurts like a motherf*cker. Especially when you suck at golf like I do and you hit the mat almost every time. My wrist hurts SO bad!
You have literally proven that it is EASIER and MORE FORGIVING off of mats. Clearly mats are not a true representation of real grass. Mats are most definetly going to give one's self a false impression of what you'll be doing on the golf coarse.
Really helpful, told us what we are doing wrong but not how correct it

Good this was really good to know. Thank you 🙂
This video helped me today, glad to see your making content again.
Such an important point
thanks ..good vid ...any advice on how to hit a golf ball off a mat without injury ?? ...hitting off a mat makes my elbow sore ...I'm ok on grass tho
FairwayJack hit the Ball and not the mat 😂
it can be such a false economy hitting off mats but Mr.Frediksson that is a great idea too
Useful
Mats are easy to use. Once I get on the course or range the grass kills me. Not sure why. Hit decent on mats grass no good.

i wouldn't hit too many off the mat or your elbow will be toast, esp. if you're hitting 'em fat. better to take your chances on the course...
I feel like a mat has more bounce as he claims. The grass can create a fat shot but the mat will create a bounce and a top.
