I've been wearing the earlier version of this watch since 2008, gw-m5600, changed the strap once, never had to change the battery or force charge it, i just wear it & its always been on full. I live in the uk. They are excellent value for money.
Used this watch in several military zones, absolutely the dogs nuts in reliability, ruggedness and comfortable wearing. Never let me down in various environments: Jungle, desert and polar.

@@CocoCoco-zj9jt Perfect comment for me to reply to! I've been using the GW 7900B for the past 4 years. I gotta say- it is one solid watch. Comparing it to gw m5610, you're getting a much larger wearing watch, but feels super comfortable due to the wings. The buttons are 1000x easier to press! You get moon phase and tide data, and you can opt for the model with solar power and multi band 6 for the full package! The only thing is you will struggle to fit it under any kind of sleeve due to how tall it wears.If you can get past that, it's a brilliant time piece. It is my favourite value G Shock.
@@CocoCoco-zj9jt it's very light for it's size, and isn't very wide. It simply sits taller so sleeves are a bit tricky, bit much more comfortable due to the wings on the watch. It's great for both large and smaller wrists. It was my first G Shock and definitely great bang for buck. If you need something that wears a bit smaller with all the same bells and whistles, check out the gw b5600: the best value G Shock square ever made.
Same watch, bought 2.5 y ago. my everyday watch and i'm overall very happy! It lasts a life with solar power (mine NEVER went under maximum charge) and being radio controlled you can really forget to have it on your wrist!! I honestly like also the standard strap even if it looks cheap, the only downside that loving NATO straps you have to put an adapter to use it. Talking of downsides, in my opinion there are some but are minor and could be an easy implement on this watch: - light: excellent visibility, never activated the rotation option because don't need it during the day, only bad thing it lasts really 1 or 1,5 sec! would have preferred 3s. I understand they did it for energy saving but honestly i use it few times (never went under maximum charge) but when i use it i would be able to read well, not in a rush - whatch doesn't go back to standard watch mode: if you forget the watch on chrono, alarm or stopwatch function, even if you are not using it, it will stay in this function. would be useful a change after 5 min of non use. - fast back to watch mode: in my old pro-trek, when i kept long push on my menu button, it switched automatically on clock menu, no matter where you were. On G-Shock you have to look where you are and click menu for the correct number of times, a bit annoying. Something that would nice to put but obviously would need a major change in the watch: - chrono buttons position: honestly, i had many digital chromo watches and everyone had chromo start in the right high button and restore on the down right button. It's almost a standard (except beautiful bullheads chrono watches) and i don't understand why change it... they could have put light button on the left high button. I put in in the Major changes not for the big issue but most because now i am almost used to it and because people that is used with this configuration maybe would not appreciate the change. - see the hour wherever you are: some watches with bigger screen keep a portion to ensure you the time, in whenever function you are, useful but not applicable to 5610. Would be even good to have the fast back option. It's a lot of time that i wanted to expose my "downsides" of a watch that today in the market is one of the best for wearability, toughness and "wear and forget" use. With those minor upgrades I believe it could extend it's longevity and most of all increment the pleasure of use also for the people loyal to G-Shock tools. @@Huskymotard88 Yep! - It has the time on multiple modes, such as the stopwatch, and light lasts about 4 seconds. Holding the mode button for a second on any screen will bring you back to the home time keeping setting. I don't see an issue with buttons, as that is simply preference I guess. It has MANY improvements over the 5610.
The only negative thing I could say about the 5610 is that it doesn’t show the time while using the other functions. Love mine, have beat the living hell out of it at work! Other than a few light nicks on the bezel it’s still going strong
I think it was Timex that had the slogan, "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking," but it really is more applicable to the G-Shocks. Love these and love the combi bracelets. Looking forward to your video on the GBX-100.
One critical dislike I had on m5610 is the fact it didn't sit flat on my wrist. And that annoyed the hell out of me for the longest time. I changed the strap to GW-5000 and it feels better but still it didn't sit flat. So what I did was I cut small part from the underside where it sticks out. And that made it much better. Now it fits almost perfect enough that I'm not complaining anymore.

So hopefully should last many years..... I bought the exact same one as yours from amazon... Can I ask are the ones with blue or orange features worth a lot more.... Is it just me or is the alarm really quiet? Just bought one and somehow I can barely hear it a foot away from my ear. Maybe it's the tone or the volume that I'm not getting.
The atomic model does not serve me where I live, there is no antenna and without going any further in world time Buenos Aires my city does not appear on the list, a bad point for almost all, as well as the excessive and unjustified price for my use. The automatic light also works in the replaceable battery model, which by the way is the most common and cheap battery model, it is a great advantage, it lasts about 5 years, I had several g shocks and this is the best and most comfortable model to my liking. Flash function with time signal, timer, chrono and alarm is a very important function for me My favorite is the DW 5600, it is the one I use and the other G Shock I have sold because it does not make sense for me to have watches in a drawer, I only need one, this one. Casio is the best by far of all the brands.

The time isn't legible when looking down at it, you have to hold it up almost face to face to read it where the CasiOak is more legible at angles as it has analog hands. Everything else about this watch is near perfect though.
Man, those G-Shocks are ugly each and every one! But I got me this one, because I need a watch for swimming and outdoor activities and it's 80's looks is somewhat tolerable. But I can't imagine it being my everyday watch.
@@Lumpy_Peter “Gaudy” may have been a bit extreme, but I think today’s style leans towards more subdued looks. Like all black. Can probably thank the Gshocks and Apple Watch for that. But when I do put on one of my stainless watches, it does seem a bit ‘flashy’ when I do a mirror check.

Got mine few days ago but its GW-M5610U version with updated module , I love it so far !! Price / performance of this watch is just unbeatable .

I agree !! The new GBX100 got that feature and it’s cool, you can always see the time.
I've just purchased the new GW-M5610 U which now has that function as well as several other new function's.

I took off the strap that came with mine, and put it on a GW-5000 strap. More comfortable and still looks the same.
How about the dial? It is not easy to scratch?
The dial is pretty safe because of the case guards around so hard to access and scratch.
