That was a real treat, Tim!! Both sound incredible! For an early Xmas gift, I took some of my Meinls & a set of UFIP hi-hats to Ray Byrne and he worked on them. They have more of a dry sound, I have better control of the wash - amazing (he said to say hello). All the best, "Hot Sauce".
Both very nice cymbals, Timothy. I couldn't detect too much wash, which I'm not a fan of on rides. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your new acquisition. Cheers.
Hi Tim, I love the little cross stick/rack tom rhythm you usually throw into your demos. A timestamp for it in this video is 14:20. Does this lick have a name, or a main jazz progenitor? It's awesome. Beautiful pies!
Yeah, it's a mash up of a nanigo and a bembe groove. Rick Dior has some great "how-to" videos of these grooves on his channel. ua-cam.com/video/s33-jdLkk20/v-deo.htmlsi=am6QCvD6MKK1JGO3
Ehhh...Not a bad sounding 23” Ride Cymbal! However, it sounds so much like so many other twenty-something inch size belled pies with its wash, crash and stick definition. It also has a little too much sustain for my taste. I recently acquired a Zildjian 18" K Thin Flat Ride(1476 grams - serial nbr. ER 48-001) that has a beautiful unique controlled tone to it with very quick decay, which I am a huge fan of, and incredible even-ness with its weight around the body of the Cymbal. It is all about the dominant stick tone with me regarding Cymbals, now that I am at the ripe-ish age of 64. It is a keen complement to my Amedia 19" Dervish Flat Ride(1950.45 grams) that also has a quick decay with a very Burgundy flavored tone and joyful stick definition. I really dig your 21" Collingwood pie in the clip...I am not a lover of large ride Cymbals but that one is quite attractive sonically and I would take it to dinner if I had the chance! My shared comment is just my take on your clip offering and is by no means a final verdict on the potential of your Collingwood Cymbals and how other ears hear them. Cheers!
Now that's a great wife! A cymbal for your Bday! Right on!!! Great for you to show Dave some well deserved love!
Those two cymbals compliment each other pretty well! Great setup right there!!
Perfect for jazz
Love it!
Beautiful cymbal!!!! And extra killin playing my friend!!
love when you play, killing it at the beginning.
it is a rare case when a cymbal is better then your own creations.
wow that one sounds amazing!
Congratulations on your new cymbal! Sounds wonderful :)
Man that cymbal sounds fantastic.
Man, that's a super killing cymbal! WoW! Also sounds really great with nylon tip.
Great sound! It blends nicely with your other Collingwood ride!

Ray is the man and an awesome smith!
Nice!! Sounds real nice! I personally would prefer one with less wash but it’s nice

Sounds like a Bembe variation.

Yeah man, to each his own. There's a cymbal for every player!
