Started watching SN vids; before it took me 5 min to shave. Now it takes me about 1 hr by the time I factor all of this new guidance in! I almost have to shave again after cleaning maintaining all the equipment. All good though....
Yes Geo this is what I do and with the blade, I always dry it on a clean towel on a flat surface and wipe the edges away from the direction of cutting - a bit like stropping and I find it keeps the blade really sharp.
Great vid, Geo!! Did my first vid on my channel, yesterday. The Lucky Dice Shave 1-2-9-6. 6 razors, 6 blades, 6 brushes, 6 shaving creams. Used The Lucky Dice to decide which product to use. 1296 combinations. All one-take with no editing. Excited about it!
Great tips, I never used shampoo on the brush but I'll give it a try, I rinse it in the bowl with warm water until the shaving soap is gone. I shave every day with R89 or R41 twists, remove the blade, rinse and dry them with a towel, brush them once a week with hand soap and old thootbrush. Always shiny. I have a Feather SS shavette wood handle and it is a bit tricky to clean imo, especially if you don't want to remove the blade every time.
Thanks so much for this video! I did not know about the shampoo/conditioner for the brush, but that is a very helpful tip. I never thought about it, but it makes sense that the same products for washing and conditioning one's hair would be just as good for washing and conditioning badger's hair.
Thanks so much for addressing these items..... Great info! I try to brush down and polish up my razors weekly to get the scum off the razors. Brush care.... great info.never knew about brushes but will start cleaning them up weekly, too! Thanks for posting this video!
I set my blade and razor parts on an Aira Soap Saver to dry after rinsing them clean. The air circulation allows everything to dry quickly. Never used a brush to clean them because I haven't had a problem with soap scum accumulating. Don't know if that's an attribute of the soap I use or the hardness/softness of the water. I also give my DE blade a brief blow dry to minimize oxidation along the edges. I get 5 great shaves from a KAI blade, using an ATT Slant S1 razor. This blade/razor combo is perfect for my beard and skin type - thick beard, sensitive skin.
Hi, is it okay to disassemble a 3 piece razor after every single shave? I've heard people leaving the blade in and only disassembling when they require a new blade. What do you recommend?
I use a tooth brush and some liquid soap called Camp Soap that I get at Walmart. It is a real mild soap that seems to work very well but the little plastic bottle it comes in is just the right size so when it gets empty I refill it with Dawn dish soap. I notice that when I clean my shaver after each use it doesn't get built up with hard water stains, it stays nice and new looking. Years ago I heard a well known radio personality recommend a product called Clean Shower to spray your shaver with when you were done shaving and the blades would stay sharp much longer. I tried it and it seemed like it worked very well but I believe he was referring to cartridge shavers but it might be worth a try just to spritz a DE blade before you stick it on the magnet. Seeing as your not supposed to wipe these blades after use it probably helps keep them free of mineral deposits.

What momma don't know.... Ever seen the WaterBoy?
@@geofatboy Yesss,😂
I never thought of using her toothbrush. I can’t imagine what might happen if she found me doing it.
Make sure the kitchen knives are stowed away somewhere safe!
@@geofatboy I agree. Completely out of reach.
.... 2:10 ....😆😆😆 I just got a divorce notice from my wife because of you.... she eventually confessed she used mine to clean the john....
Uh Oh! Payback...
Why does everybody want to kill two birds with one stone?
The world has too many birds, and not enough stones. :D btw, I was wondering what the second 'bird' was in this case. 1) Clean the brush. 2) Condition it?? Does it need conditioning? Should people who don't use a 2 in 1 shampoo on their brush, then follow it up with a separate conditioner? Just wondered :)
That's why they're called Angry Birds!

What the hell?! Who shampoos their shaving brushes?
Fellas, just dunk it in a bowl with hot water and essential oils, if the smell is THAT unbearable.
Also, I'd also use lesser harsh ingredients for those expensive brushes. Dr. Bronners castile soap is the best. No artificial ingredients 🚫❗
