I was at this game as I was at most of JSUs home games in the late 80s and most of the 90s. Some of the best experiences of my teenage years. Great band competitions and the football team was great as well.
Is it me or is motivating the football team becoming a lost art today? It seems that the swac bands from the 90's on back not only were great bands but they knew football and kept the teams on the field fired up while battling each other in the stands. Now I understand that those bands were accompanied by much better football teams that had the likes of Walter Peyton, Jerry Rice and Steve McNair and a long list of other NFL greats. Also I understand that SWAC football is just terrible now days but the main roll of the band is to keep the fans and the team motivated.
This was the year JSU was transitioning from those dope 22ks to the full metal sousaphones they still use today, all 20ks and 2350s. They even went so far as to spray painting some of the 22ks satin silver at the time to make it look like they were brass. Not trying to hate because the Conn 22k is the best fiberglass sousaphone of all time, renowned for its HUGE, brass-like sound.

This is the perfect tempo to "We Came To Play"

6:14 We Came To Play!! Nothing like it
Why does the Boom get deprived of space everywhere they go??? Any band going to Memorial has more than enough room to get beat down!!!!
@10:01 can someone explain what JSU is doing, what does that mean?
Turn up the volume.
@@TAPEMASTEROFFICIAL thanks
