This is current situation with the closing of Monkey Gum/Yalwal area, got this off the Yalwal 4x4 Facebook page - For anyone interested, just to follow up the post regarding the rocks at the start of Dean's Gap Rd. The attached image is the aboriginal land claim concerning Yalwal. The claim is the area marked in Yellow and Yalwal as we use it is for the best part the green hatched area. Just for some perspective, this is not about rubbish, people tearing up trails or cutting down trees. The land claim was made in 1987 and was granted in 2009. The reason we are seeing action to restrict access now is because the current land manager, the NSW Dept of crown lands, is preparing it to be handed over to the Local Aboriginal Land council. They are responsible for the state of the land when it is handed over. We do not know what will happen when the transfer happens but we do know it is going to happen soon. I read through the comments on the other post and I felt it's in everyone's best interest to know what is actually going on.
Yes get ready to lose your public land, in SA all public land is allocated to be looked after by various groups, access is not permitted in most of these places now
@@andrewcoulter323 You should try WA mate. We aren't allowed within 2km of most of our reservoirs & anything deemed catchment area is off limits even though there are roads, houses, farms & plantation logging in those areas & the logging often takes place within 1km of the reservoirs. There is zero legal camping within 2 hours of Perth unless you want to pay for a site, of which there are precious few. There is zero legal camping for 350km south along the coast & another 200km north. East? Forget it until you are at least 3hrs from the city. That is just the tip of the iceberg over here. Monkey Gum, hard enough on dry days. You both have done it when it is so much wet. Amazing adventure. MUX driving by your dad and your guidance were a treat to watch. This will inspire more mid size 4wds to go out to adventures. Thank you all in your family.

Thanks for the Sunday morning entertainment once again, you make me love my tb48 gu 4 more every video, so nice seeing 3 generation out on the tracks love your content keep it up.
Have been spending most of my Sunday mornings watching you latest videos mate and continue to be impressed by that Patrol , but the old boys MUX is closer to my car and I am also continually being impressed what he puts that thing through , well done another great production 👍
Wow the track has changed so much since we last drove it about 5yrs ago. From what I've hear the land has been handed to the aboriginal lands council. So there's a good chance that the tracks will be lost, just like Menai and Appin. Pretty impressed with where the MUX will go!
Just found your channel and love the content that Patrol is a beast and so is Isuzu for keeping up with it, i wish we had these cars here in Canada cuz toyota tax is crazy here.
Hey guys. Awesome work and great video as usual. If there was a hole in the bash plate you could use the winch to give it a tug... don't know if there's space but just a thought... cheers.
You can clearly see how the Patrol articulates nice and slowly over the terrain, but the IFS is showing us that it's nearly as capable. Not long ago it's was all about solid axles, not any longer...Appreciate the awesome effort you put into filming these adventures. Well done Tyler/crew...👍👍
Great comment but I would rather a solid axle long travel suspended 4x4 any day over an IFS(and I've got both)..especially for serious hard core tracks. No disrespect to you Sir but my opinion.Peace🕊🙏
@@jay75rv No I agree with you... I also would prefer a solid axle (have had both also) . It's just amazing seeing how far IFS has come along in engineering wise from torsion bars to independent struts to long arms etc... But yea love the solid axles.👍👍
You need to make a trip to the Snowys', particularly Yarrangobilly. Unfortunately no 4WD required, but Kai can literally go for a swim in the hot springs, whilst snow is falling on his head! As for Monkey Gum, dont worry, if the murrays do get control, it will remain open, ...for a fee!
Your dad, at 10:48, going down that steep sloap - pull the handbrake up 2-3-4 notches to move the brake balance from front to rear a little. Ie, less risk of locking up the front wheels loosing steering. Same at 11:34, & you at 12:00.

The thing I can’t seem to understand is how much 4WDers will get excited about putting in a locker, or a new winch… then spend the majority of the track trying to avoid using them. I’m not saying they take easier tracks. I’m saying they never like breaking out the cool new toys, and instead just send it 20 times until they get lucky. Present company excluded.
