thanks, I just pulled the 390 and trans out of a 64 tbird, both needing rebuilds. I studied all of the characteristics that you mention and concluded that the trans was the correct "MX" cruise-o-matic with vacuum modulator that the car should have had. I got a rebuilt 352 and its cruise-o-matic back into my 60 Tbird last month and that trans was pretty much the same except it didn't have the vacuum modulator valve. I got a 57 tbird a few years ago and it had a cruise-o-matic with a vacuum modulator valve in it that was correct for a 63-66 Ford but wrong for a 57 which had a fordomatic. It took me awhile to find that correct 57 trans but now that car is all together and runs very well. I enjoy your channel very much thanks for sharing your experiences.
And the FX and ASMX have the difference between the acoustic. The FM xaximum FX is the amount of bolt holding the Pan on count the bolts. Each one of them 3 take a different have 1 has more bolts than the other 1. The whole of the Pan Eye cause I've had all 3. The crucial addict FM X in the FX. I've had all three, and when you go by the gas perform, they ask you how many bolts are on the Pan.
