  • Macrame cord or craft cord can be a good substitute for Puglisi hair and can be less expensive. Buddy Price demonstrates how to separate the cord as well has package the material once its separated.

    I saw Buddy do this couple years ago at a florida tying show, I even made my own dubbing by carding yarn, all because I couldn't find the color I liked.

    Hi, awesome Idea! Tanks a lot! The result material is similar to the EP fiber or its the same? I used other brand of macrame cord, but the fiber es really thin, and Its not good for tying large streamer!

    • @FlyFishVideo
      @FlyFishVideo  5 років тому +1

      The macrame cord is very close to EP fiber - I won't say it's the same but its really close. For large streamers you might want to consider Kanekalon hair which is a little stiffer. I done long flies with it and it works fine. See my video on Kanekalon Hair for more info.

    Does this material have a tendency to float like Congo Hair or does it tend to sink?

    • @FlyFishVideo
      @FlyFishVideo  3 роки тому

      I find it fairly neutral so the weight of a hook sinks it easily once wet. Similarly a piece of foam will float it easily.

    Can it be custom colored?

    • @FlyFishVideo
      @FlyFishVideo  2 роки тому +2

      I've never tried dying it but since it comes in many colors it must be able to be dyed. That said I've found that blending different colors works well to create different shades.

    The Frugal Fly Rodder published a video about EXACTLY this same product as a substitute for Puglisi hair two weeks before you did. Did you simply steal his idea? Sure looks that way.

      Mike Sueirro - I’ve been using this technique for about 3 years now. I learned it at the Florida Expo in 2014 and just got around to showing it.
