I'm officially at that age where I need to take my glasses off to focus better on things really close to my face, and put them back on for things further away. I understand completely.
At least if you ate shrooms, you'd get some beautiful colors and patterns, but all you got were those lousy glasses! 😵💫 Haha, seriously though, hope all is well Bob! 🍻 The Harmony Encore is great, but the 7800GD is probably the way to go, if you have a 7800. 👍
I know you can't see/read this right now.😳 But Thank you Bob for everything you do for us & the community! Wednesday's Roundups are my FAVORITE day of the week. And I'm always looking forward to the next one! Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of your week!
I’m sure when you watch this video back once your eyes have adjusted back to normal, you’ll realize how cool those glasses are. I think you may have found a new look!
I've had a Harmony Cart for several years now, and I love it! Mine is just the regular Harmony Cart, and I only bought the PCB and used an extra copy of Missile Command as a donor shell. So far it's played everything I've tried to run on it. My favorite homebrew game to play on it is Space Rocks, and I even made a custom 5-button controller specifically for it, although it also works very well with just plain Asteroids or any other game that assigns specific functions to different joystick directions.
Another great news ep! Thanks for all your effort! I'm pumped for that High Velocity vid! I had it as a kid, and i have the import and JP only sequal. Hot tip for any retro gamers.. IT PLAYS SO GOOD WITH THE SATURN WHEEL! Like game-changingly so!
It's great that they are selling the Harmony cart on StoneAge. Next year I will buy it. But It's a shame that Tim's AtariRGB mod is no longer for sale 😢
Seriously. Just knowing the RGB/component 2600 mod existed is making me pass on all the composite mods... which means sticking with crappy RF until then!
On the clock calibration for the everdrive, the focus is more on improving the clock's long-term accuracy rather than increasing its resolution. On my ED PRO, the time can be off by several hours over a few months only. The new firmware allows a correction to be applied to compensate for the clock's natural drift. It's about the satisfaction of seeing the correct time in the menu; otherwise, I'm not aware of any games that would benefit from this.
Bob cant see! But I see you. Or can i? Do you exist, or have my eyes dilated through the blackness of the mirrored screen?! This is one wild weekly update! 👁️👄👁️
It's very rare the dilated exam benefits anyone, but I know someone who had it done and the optometrist was able to detect ocular melanoma early and they were able to treat it (albeit very painfully). It can only be detected in a dilated eye exam but it's quite rare. Having said that, I still decline it every time I go because it ruins my day, and I know the eye doctor is mostly trying to upsell me
I like the concept of the FDS NES cart, but Muramasa themselves also sells (or used to) a Famicom to NES cart adaptor that overhangs the front loader a bit and lets you just plug in an original FDS RAM cart. I’ve had it for years, it works great, and it’s SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than having to get a cart with all the OG ram cart hardware built in.
it looks like there were a few retail carts over 8k, but not many and it looks like most were ports from other systems that have better versions. I couldn't find any that were over 64k though so 512k seems excessive
Hey Bob! 👋 Just wondering if the main RetroRGB theme song is available anywhere in mp4/wav form? I LOVE that tune man, 🤜🤛 and I'd REALLY like to have that as my ringtone.
Thanks so much! No, but you can hear the whole thing here: ua-cam.com/video/B1wOvO2xWkw/v-deo.html ...and that was actually a "chiptunes-style" version I paid to have made. It's based off the original I wrote for a band I was in: ua-cam.com/video/V0DvkHGBv94/v-deo.html
That FDS Ram cart seems cool, but that price is crazy. It would be cheaper to just import a Famicom if you really want to play FDS games. Or get an Everrdrive. But like you said, its not for everyone.
On the encryption/decrypt on Konami Bubble, remember the core philosophy of the MisterFPGA project has always been accuracy above all else. While not certain, I'm willing to bet a good chunk of that system just doesn't work unless that is in play. Like how some spinny disc games have to treat the cd as exact to to speed +controller behavior for some games to run accurate to og hardware via cd drive emulation.
Are you guys the ones responsible for the atomic purple SNES shell? Any chance more will be produced? I could probably find other ones, but I want a good one. 😛
I covered them back when it was a kickstarter. I totally forgot to follow up though, so I'll write a post next week. Thanks very much for the heads up that they're in stock now!
Muramasa says they'll also release a adapter that works with the NES hub. I wonder if Krikzz can make an update that lets the everdrive become a RAM adapter
I wonder if you can just use a flash cartridge to boot into the FDS bios rather than use the custom cartridge and then use the expansion port adapter for the Disk Drive to play actual disks, sure at that point you might as well skip straight into loading .fds ROMs on said flash cart but I can still see the appeal to those who want to play via the actual disks
@RetroRGB I’ve asked and they just give some vague ass medical speak answer. I’ve just learned to plan out that appointment for early in the morning and I go straight home afterwards and go to sleep. When I wake up in the afternoon I’m able to function.
As a Sega CDX owner who loves using the console, I’d love to see a mega everdrive pro firmware update that fixes compatibility with the Sega CDX. I was super tempted to buy a mega everdrive pro during the Black Friday sale, but ended up with the X5 since I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the pro’s best feature. I’ve read there are workarounds but I do have some concerns about the safety for my CDX and what games won’t work. I read Sonic CD would not work which is my favorite game of all time. If this gets fixed, Id buy one and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Let's be real here in most cases there are not many Sega CD games that would need to save transferred most people wouldn't be playing too many different Sega CD games that support save probably the most hardcore Sega CD player only has a handful of important saves
IMO Morph is a joke for retro gaming. They tried to piggie-back on the RT4k release. Fanboys of their kits would have waited for a complete Morph anyway. They should have stuck to just console hdmi kits which they are great at!
Yeah their announcement of the Morph-4K lining up with the RT4K's impending release felt kinda grimy, but maybe it was just a big coincidence! From the beginning I knew their analog bridge would be severely delayed, simply because analog video is just hard, and the PixelFX team only really had experience with digital video and simple digital to analog conversion for some of their kits. I won't be surprised if people keep waiting quite a bit longer, and if there are a fair number of kinks they'll need to iron out (hopefully all via fw updates) after relase.
While the launch was indeed rushed and it certainly hasn’t been smooth. Right now the morph is in a really really good state and is an excellent 4k scaler with a lot of features and nice perks. It’s really just missing the analog part. It is a compelling product for a great price point.

Speak of the Voultar and he shall appear.

If I still played gigs, I’d have to wear them on stage at least once, just for fun.

There's been a recent update about a redesign possibility available in February

I'm a Harmony Cart user - they are brilliant! I also got my eyes dilated recently and was blind until the evening. Yay for getting older!
"Handful of mushrooms" voice of experience, right there
Bob, you looking cool with sun glasses 😎
Another great update as usual Bob!
Heyyyyy man, I get my krikzz/retrotink firmware updates from you. Thanks for the heads up.

Dude eye dilation SUCKS. I still don’t understand how it’s ok that they just let you drive afterwards.
Yeah and they don’t warn you how long the side effects last. I got my sight back by the evening, but my eyes still hurt.
