As a great man once said: "They say that science is built on the shoulders of Giants. Not at Portal Speedrunning Community. We do everything from scratch. Only Radios. No handholding"
wow your channel is growing, it's all well deserved man! Also great video as always, thank you for bringing attention to Portal speedrunning in a cool way. :)
Must feel quite nice to be greeted personally in the current wr video by the speedrunner! Also: CantEven just playing "Still Alive" at the end of the video is such a flex, lmao! And congratulations on the 16m 18s on your Portal Reloaded no SLA
Wait. I didn't know Msushi had a Patreon! I'm getting in my time machine right now so I can start supporting him yesterday! I want my name added to the video!
My favorite skip in 00 is actually one used in glitch-less runs, where you throw the radio into the doors as they close, propping them open, and eliminating the need to interact with the cube.
Nice video! I'm so glad this glitch actually got covered, since it seems to be the one thing that any new any% runner would want to try, and knowing it's history is just really cool.
Portal, the very first Steam game I activated on my then brand new Steam account in 2008 with a copy bought in a store near the Alexanderplatz while on a trip to Berlin. I couldn't wait to get back home. Memories.
"we dont know much about the radio launch, it's kind of an anomoly in the source engine" it works because thw engine it's self is an anomoly, nothing makes sense in the source dimetion
firstly, how the fuck do you make so many typos secondly, "This control point's positional X, Y and Z coordinates correspond to the laser's red, green and blue values using a scale of negative two hundred and fifty-five to positive two hundred and fifty-five, which necessitates the equation 'X times two minus 255', where X is the RGB value that you want. What? You didn't get that? THAT'S BECAUSE IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE!"
I like to look at LOTS of different speed runs, just because games Can break in so many ways, and it’s really amazing how Speedrunners can break games in ways you’d NEVER expect
I've come across this channel by accident and it's refreshing to see someone so in love with the game and at the same time so good at explaining its particulars with great video editing skills; good job indeed!
you know when you're curious about how something works, but in your head you weigh up how much effort it's gonna rake to find the answer and decide it's not worth it? that was me and "how do portals work" thanks for clearing that one up for me, alongside the cool explanation of the speedrun stuff too, always fun to see "new" tricks, even if i don't actively follow a game's speedruns.
It's been nearly a decade since I first decided to mess around in speedrunning Portal and I'm still learning new things like where this "going through portals is OoB" meme came from. I don't think I ever changed the portal render depth, nvm changing it to the lowest value 😹
* Somewhere in prison * "Man, what are you doing?" "Making my way out of here" "But.... Thats a radio" "Yea it is, a way to break The Matrix" "Wtf are you even talking about?" "Watch this" * Clips through ceiling and flies out of prison * "WHAT? Man, those drugs do hit hard af" * Later * "AHA! Finally found the angle of this glitch!" * Proceeds to clip through the ceiling and fly out of prison * "So it was actually true"
9:12 i have a guess to what causes this, since the game flings physics objects and players when they get stuck inside each other, i think what happens here is that you are flipping through the radio whilst the repelling script is still functional, causing it to fling you into the stratosphere i have no clue if im even close to being correct.
When life gives you radios, jump on them and clip through elevators... of course
Speedrunning content attracts speedrunners it seems
yeah noclap
hahaha
Noclip/no cap
Wow its the trackmania guy
There is always a way to push the limit
Very nice explanation of the routes and route history, I honestly forgot that k80 literally said "just stand here lol and you clip in"
Hey Can’t :D
You should speedrun The Synergy Mod w/ Msushi
If you have a brother his surname would be cantodd
Portal devs: wouldn't it be fun of we gave the players little radios?
Speedruners: mmmh.... yes....
Lol
Portal devs!?!? PORTAL DEVS. Their called valve
@@Splatenohno yes but portal still had its own dev team
@@CaptainApathetic and even then, Valve did develop Portal, so they _are_ Portal devs
@@Zooiestit was some college kids that Valve hired.
even if i don't speedrun the games, these videos are still really interesting to watch
Same
Same
That's the whole point of these videos...
that's the point
Agreed
By the time this video is over, an OoB runner has made it out of 00/01 once

I love how speed runs evolve going from a fast classic run to basically who can most efficiently code god mode
ohh, so this is why it said ur playing “premiere pro” on discord for a couple days lol! great video!
wow your channel is growing, it's all well deserved man!
Also great video as always, thank you for bringing attention to Portal speedrunning in a cool way. :)
thanks Misha :)
@Alose Pretty epic ngl 😎😎😎😎
woah I haven’t seen your channel in a few years
woah thats crazy I was just listening to your music
NO WAY

that reminds me of how in HL2 EP2 if you bring the pickaxe in the elevator into the next area it will have an effect kinda like that
thx 4 adding a part from "baba is you" soundtrack. And for great video too!

Was about to comment the same thing, was so happy to hear that theme again, that game is incredible.
This. THIS will be good for the economy.
Heck yeah!
What is this, the Scott The Woz community? Cool!

Adam I gotta say we both know oob is not good for the economy

Note to self: add this glitch to my game
You'd need to port the entire Source physics engine into the game in order to add both save glitch and the radio launch, wouldn't you?
@@thebigdug It may not work exactly the same way, but you could program your own game to have these as a feature on purpose. So, no.
the radio launch isn’t so simple but most of the glitches involving radios are very simple like the load glitch
Note to self: add this glitch as a feature.
Sometimes the best glitches deserve to be features.
Good luck (not sarcastic)

Wow, Msushi has a Patreaon, you can just have my money!
It worked!!!

I was literally about to start speedrunning portal but watching msushi talk about speedrunning is more important
Nice video! I'm so glad this glitch actually got covered, since it seems to be the one thing that any new any% runner would want to try, and knowing it's history is just really cool.
When I played the demo I just threw the radio on the toilet
Portal, the very first Steam game I activated on my then brand new Steam account in 2008 with a copy bought in a store near the Alexanderplatz while on a trip to Berlin. I couldn't wait to get back home. Memories.
I love the music choices!
I love your videos, because they make me feel like a speedrun or a glitch hynter without doing anything, keep up the good work!
I love the Dustforce soundtrack, specially 9-bit Expedition!
Love "Baba is You" soundtrack in the background
I am amazed how you went through this entire video without calling it Rubby once lmao
"we dont know much about the radio launch, it's kind of an anomoly in the source engine"
it works because thw engine it's self is an anomoly, nothing makes sense in the source dimetion
LazyPurple can vouch for this. source is just weird in every way, I'm almost certain Lovecraft was a direct influence on it

2:40 jukspa looks adorable
I very much appreciate the Boneworks music in the background ☺️
1:20 Last place i'd think to hear Boneworks music
I wonder if there are any Speedrun-based shenanigans based on the "impulse 101" command. Even if it's not a category, it'd be fun.
Yay, I've been waiting for another one of these

Awesome Video Bro!

Always down for some Boneworks ost. Awesome video as always.
I love the use of the Boneworks music when you left the map in the beginning. Really fits it well!

Great content ! The Dustforce OST is also much appreciated.
2:50 this is why you cant grab everything in portal 2
I have never played portal and I don't really want to, yet my recommendations... are like filled with them, they're so addicting.
Cool. Love the use of Dust Force music in the background.
I might try speed running the portal games, thanks to you.keep up the amazing work!
Really been enjoying your content so far! Love the way you make your videos and hearing about all of these cool concepts. Keep up the good work!
good video msushi, glad you were able to summarize why i would never in my life attempt an OoB run :)
Loving the DustForce BGM, and great video! Not a speedrunner but this is really interesting.
Really good video, as a portal fan I woul never have thought about this
i love these portal skip videos
BONEWORKS MUSIC MAKE ME HAPPY
I dont even watch Portal Speedruns but still these documentary type videos are so much fun to watch!
I can’t watch anyone else cover speedrun stuff cause I just love ur delivery more
Love the use of boneworks music
you know the old saying, when a door closes clip through the wall
These videos are my favorite. So informative and still utterly stupid at times with how it's actually performed.
Neat analysis! Thanks for uploading!

Damn, Valve must like Super Mario 64 speedruns. They added the backward long jump into Portal!
Love the BONEWORKS music!
Really love these videos dude
These videos are continuously great!
Thanks :)
these continue to be an insta click for me whenever i see a new video. love your videos! keep it up
I was very surprised to find that there EVEN exists a Glitch-less portal and portal 2 speed run category
Dropping a comment to prove my engagement with this Msushi video! Hyped to watch it later!
when u play the video at 2x he sounds like ben shapiro

can we just talk about how subtle that "subscribe + notifications" message was
love the baba is you music
also great vid as always Msushi
I just realized that I managed to do the save load glitch by accident. Awesome video.
This Skip is so satisfying when you finally get it for the first time.
Never played portal but I love msushi!
The boneworks music really surprised me lmao
Oh dear, it seems I'm on another speedrun glitch/route explanation binge...
Not that I'm complaining this kind of stuff fascinates me :D
Every time I hear the boneworks sound track, I feel the urge to play again.

dustforce OST, Msushi is a man of culture
This video changed my life.
I actually discovered the ABH by myself in Gmod when messing around with friction. I didn't know it had a name.
I've heard portal music, hollow knight music and BONEWORKS music. It's like he wants me to develop a crush... meh subscribed

imagine going to work and you see a dude push against the wall with a radio and vanish
I appreciate the boneworks music.
That video with the save glitch and you clicking subscribe and notifications lol
did NOT expect the boneworks music at 1:25, its my most played VR game
Ikr! I got my phone out just to look at the comments because I was on my Xbox. It's a amazing game!
