- Solo hike through the Jagungal wilderness, passing through some stunning landscapes and growing an appreciation for that narrow window of time where the flies vanish and the mosquitoes appear
This is masterfully edited video, b-roll shots are just stunning! Hats off!!!
Thanks mate, big compliment considering the quality of your content. Thanks for watching
A brilliant video once again mate! What an adventure and go your for putting in the effort on those big days.
Cheers mate, think all the credit for the big days goes to the flies for pushing me onwards 😆
Epic trip. Some big hiking days and well worth the effort. I will definitely have to look at hiking the high country some time. Thanks for taking us along.
You totally should head to the high country some time mate!
@@campfirejesusJust watched this again as I am planning on going around that area some time soon - probably come in from the East. I hope the flies are not so bad for me!
Hope you have an awesome time!
What a great trip! I'm here because Kate Grarock gave you a shout out. Those flies and the heat looked pretty challenging, but those views, especially at the end! Also great to see a Lanshan out in the wild 😊
It was an awesome trip, oddly enough I'm here cos of Kate Grarock also, as watching her amazing videos during a lock down inspired me to film some of my trips.
Those flies just wear you down mentally, but was still so great to be out there.
Love my Lanshan, bang for buck one of my best gear purchases I think.
@@campfirejesus how good is Kate? I'm happy you are filming (although I watch you go through those freezing rivers and think "shit he has to go back and get the camera!). I have a Lanshan - but it's only been up in the backyard so far! Soon...soon.
@@ingridmccarthy0707 Ah yes the beauty of filming solo is that you get to see everything twice! 😉
I hope you get out adventuring in you Lanshan soon
What a delight! Not your usual terrain so really enjoyed that. Some parts reminded me of Central Otago. My partner has been cross-country skiing there in the winter and even recognised Valentine Hut. As a Kiwi hiker I loved the “first snake of the trip” comment😂. The huts were interesting too. Another great trip.
The historic huts are great, stayed near one on a recent trip that I could happily live in. Why didn't someone come up with the great idea of introducing venomous snakes to NZ? Thanks for watching mate, next video was filmed in NZ so you should feel right at home!
Thanks Jesus's a beautiful walk
Thanks for tagging along
Great video. Awesome scenery but pity about both the flies and the blisters.
Stunning part of the country, but yeah will visit at a slightly different time of year next time.
Thanks for watching!
@campfirejesus what time of year would you recommend?
Depends a little on what experience you are after, but if going in warmer months I'd advise trying to get in before the first heatwave of the season and you would likely have less issues with flies (they can be brutal in that part of the world)
Great video mate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you work in an outdoors shop? (i won't say the name).
I think I chatted to you a while ago about the best dehydrated meals to take on my first bikepacking trip. The trip was a success, and the food was delish. Cheers!
Thanks, mate!
Yes, I do. Freeze-dried food can often be a lucky dip with everyone's taste differing. The general rule of thumb, the further you walk (or bike), the better it tastes! 😆
I'm glad to hear your trip was a success!
Been thinking about doing something similar to you but with more mentions about scriptures as something to engage with the audience, Would love to reach more lost people for Jesus in His word. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to hiking and camping in comparison to most but hey, I could call my channel "The Narrow path" as a journey of learning to walk with God as I include the audience in a fellowship kind of manner. God Bless you mate !.
Cheers mate. I'd say go for it, get out there and get amongst it.
As for your confidence level regarding the hiking, just start small on well maintained tracks and build from there. Alternatively explore joining a bush walking club to gain some skills or do a navigation course. Goodluck!
