    God I am having such a hard time with this set up. I can't believe how convoluted it is. I have an av1300 kit. The base is connected to my router via Ethernet cable. The extender set up in the same room to get them to talk to each other. The extender then moved to the other end of the house where I plug an Ethernet cable into it (I need Ethernet AND WiFi for this access point). The wireless ssids for the extender match the WiFi network broadcast by my router which incidentally is both 2.5 and 5ghz (different ssids at the router for each network). My extender had the same ssids by default but honestly it was flaky as all hell and the connection at the extender was slow to less than dial up. So here I am wasting so far 3 hours trying to get this "plug and play" system to play nice. WiFi at the extender works fine, Ethernet does not. Is there something special that needs to be done for Ethernet?

      No Ethernet should be the one that is plug and play. I would suggest contacting support so they can troubleshoot the concern with you.

  • @pablovi77

    I did that via web browser, and changed the SSID and the password to my current WiFi network settings, the same as using WPS. But now I cannot linger connect to the extender! Neither via web browser or the iOS app. They can’t find the extender in my network. But I know it’s working.
    So, how do I connect again if I want to change the settings???

    Also.. if i connect to the adapter via wifi the utility does nothing and just says "NO DEVICE CONNECTED" So i cannot change the SSID name or password. If i connect via ethernet i can go into settings but there is no Wireless tab to configer (because i am connected with ethernet)

    Thanks for this video. I understand that if you can't copy the network by the wps/wifi buttons, you'll set a new network anyway. That's a bummer, because I want just one network in the whole appartment. Because there is just no network in one room, near to the rooms where wifi is perfect.
    Is there realy no other option except the wps/wifi buttons to have just one network?

      Powerline adapters that have wireless capabiltiies can "clone" the SSID of your main network. However, keep in mind its not a seamless connection it would be two APs broadcasting the same Network. You would still see a drop and reconnection when switching between the two.

    Both the 2.4 and 5 lights are solid green but the house icon is not... so the wifi is copied but it still says connected without internet, I don't understand... why?

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  2 роки тому

      The House light not being lit is a problem. This indicates that the remote(wireless) unit does not see the non-wireless unit that is connected to your Router.
      This could be an indication the two units are not paired or that your remote unit is on a separate circuit.
      Troubleshooting starts by moving the remote unit to an outlet on the same wall as the main unit and seeing if the home light comes on. If it does the removed location you were using can not be used as it is a different circuit. if it does not come one, try to pair the units and test again.

      The other two methods Tether App and Web Setup will allow you to clone the SSID as well. When you are on the page showing you the Extended network names simply click in the field and remove the "_EXT" from the network names.

  • @darthvladi

    When I use the wifi clone option, is there supposed to be only one network (ssid) or there always have to be 2 networks (one from the main router and one from Tplink)? I am asking this because I have tried for several hours and still I have 2 different networks.
    I have the Adapter connected via ethernet to the main router and followed instructions to clone for the Extender but yet the same.
    Also, even when extender provides 2.4G and 5G conectivity, the 5G is not really 5G, it only provides speed limited to about 50Mbps instead the 120Mbps the main router does. Any suggestion on this?

    • @TPLINKTECH

      Clone copies the SSID(s) from the router. However, they will be still separate APs. They should only show up as one entry per SSID though. If you are seeing the unit with its own then clone may have not worked. We would recommend contacting support in this case.

      TP-Link Powerline adapters can clone the SSID of the host network. However just like range extenders this still creates separate APs with the same SSID. That can lead to connection concerns, especially when a client device is between the source and the remote AP. If you are looking for true unify seamless wireless you would want to look at Mesh.

  • @Nutronic

    What would happen if I named the extender and the additional one the same as my network name provided by the router along with password too.

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  3 роки тому

      In theory it would be a seamless connection and switch to the extender as you moved out of the host range and into the extender. However in practice that is not always the case. In reality it may work like this but most customers find their clients jumping from AP (host or extender) to AP or at times not even connecting at all.

    • @gerardborda
      @gerardborda 3 роки тому +1

      @@TPLINKTECH Can you elaborate more on why the connection jumps from AP to AP? I recently switched modems and now have this issue. I wonder if it is a setting that I can change like giving the extender a static IP address or some other fix so that I don't lose connection and reconnect seconds later as I move from one zone to another.

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  3 роки тому +1

      @@gerardborda When an extender broadcast the same SSID as the host and a client is transferring to the connection on the extender from the host it will temporarily disconnect and reconnect as it transitions between the two APs. Really the only way around this is to switch to a Mesh system. Now if you have a TP-Link router and range extender compatible with OneMesh you would not need new equipment. If you don't seamless wireless would need a Mesh system.
