Rugby is easier when you play with a full compliment. Lol. 1. The abs Where tactically speaking, not doing what they did last game, ie countering a rush d. 2. They had 14 men for most of the game. Have faith, just a blip. And not hugely relevant

@@thefabulousplatypus8956 they were man handled long long long before the red card. Your forwards were already blown off the park hence the 4 penaltys before even a yellow was shown. NORMAL BIASED AB TREATMENT. Barrett played a Bakkies on the crowd and should get the ban that Bakkies got during the British Lions tour. Your forwards were shoved off the park and that's why your cards happened.

South Africa literally just pulled off the impossible… they decisively beat the All Blacks, ending their unbeaten run. The ABs go into the RWC having lost to the defending Champions, and the Boks go into the RWC making all the pundits rethink their bets. Clean, powerful and accurate… Boks really stepped up this game. Esterhuizen has claimed that 12 jersey as far as I’m concerned. And Willemse takes the 15. No doubt.

As a whole we played well but lacked accuracy and killer instinct. We left opportunities and tries on the board and failed to really put them away in that period when they were down 2 people.

Two things from this game. First is the incredible pressure that the Boks put on NZ. I have never seen that in a test match. They just never allowed any room for the backs. Second is that NZ can hold their heads up as their defense was actually very good. I know that the score does not say so, but I can promise you, against another side, with that pressure from the Boks, they would have crumbled and the Boks would have scored 60 or 70.

Bit worried as an Irish fan when we take on the Springboks, that will be a brutal game. Looking forward to the world cup, think the AB's are a wounded animal and will be dangerous. The best case would be if we play each other in the Final instead, provided we don't get knocked out along the way. What a game. This was what I, as a lifelong Springbok fan, wanted to see for the longest time - the Boks evolving their game and adding back-line brilliance to traditional front row dominance. The forwards with set piece brutality supplemented by running rugby not just from the wings but now also the magic back three. This is Rassie and Nienaber really impacting South African rugby. It’s like moulding the Stormers with the Bulls.
The Kiwis witnessed this come together at Twickenham and just weren’t prepared for it.
Emotionally, I’m chuffed that we settled the score from Auckland and are reviving a head to head rivalry with the old foe.

Huge respect to the ABs as always, however I feel that SA was comfortable enough that they didn't need to put all their cards on the table, they just stuck to basic rugby and won, this is a huge plus as they didn't give the future opposition much to work with ( that they didn't already know). One concern though, we need to develop more of a killer instinct to put teams away. ABs could easily been in the game had one or two passes stuck. These guys were hilarious and it was a fantastic atmosphere, very jovial even though they were under the cosh a bit there. Friendly guys, everyone having a laugh. Lots of sharing of concern for players and comparing notes on the game. Everyone was just happy to be there.
I also attended the England Wales game a few weeks before and the atmosphere was night and day. The English supporters were..... angry. After the England game the whole stadium emptied very quickly. Last night I wonder if the security was getting ready to throw the remaining fans off the grounds as it was still heaving 2 hours after the final whistle.

Boks fan here. Commiserations to NZ. Only a fool would go into a match like this and expect this sort of result. Certainly I didn't anyway. Mark Telea is a slippery beast. What a player. Overall, lets not extrapolate too much from the result. This was a sloppy, entertaining game but we're on the cusp of the real McCoy.
As for the Boks, the forwards had an excellent, dominant game albeit with some problems finishing clinically in that line-out/maul saga in the beginning. Loved seeing Kwagga with those brutal fends.
Anyone who has seen me comment here knows I am a big De Allende detractor. The team is so much more dynamic with a pairing like Esterhuizen and Moodie. Moodie's defensive reads are unreal and both of them are actual linebreakers instead of crash ball meat against the defensive wall.
Mapimpi is not looking competitive with the others sadly. Libbok kicked some decent conversions but man, you cannot go deep into the World Cup unless you take the shot at goal when appropriate.
Scotland beckons and I'm still bricking it.

I didnt see the game but as a Welshman and knowing the class of that New Zealand team, it makes me feel slightly better about the hammering our young XV took at the hands of the boks last week. It sounds like from how Mark describes it, they did a similar job on the All Blacks to what they did on Wales. Same blueprint similar result. Not 8 tries but 5 conceded all the same by a vastly superior team on paper.

It was one of those days where the Springboks played out of their socks - leaving us South Africans delighted, but also a little gobsmacked. I am excited that we have a combination of physical and brutal forwards and also exciting backs who want to have a go. Yet, I am fully aware of the quality of the All Blacks and other teams in the World Cup, like the French, the Irish and the Scots. I am sure the All Blacks will be back at it hammer and tongs against the French in 11 days time, and I certainly see several tough games ahead for the Springboks - I really hope that they don't get ahead of themselves!
