The one consistent thing that I noticed and is still happening today , and was also mentioned by Hugh Bladen in this game , is that every time New Zealand gets within kicking range, the ref will manufacture a penalty. Drives me nuts. 90 % of games lost against the All Blacks are due to penalty conversions.
As well as the penalties they give away like clockwork in their 22 to prevent tries. That high shot to Habana case in point. Should have been yellow minimum - then to see Matfield get one for a far less severe tackle in non-try scoring position was a joke.
Haha, me too! Why are we so stressed when we know what's going to happen? PS That 2008 game took place on my birthday. What a wonderful present that was.

Francois Steyns long range kicking performance in the 2009 Tri Nations test match in Hamilton was the greatest I have ever seen from a goal kicker. 3 penalty goals from inside the Boks own half in NZ is something foreign world cup winning goal kicking heros like Jonny Wilkinson & Matt Burke could not achieve against the All Blacks in their own backyard

Funny reading how boring and 10 man rugby the Brit press portrayed these teams! You don't tour winning 30+ games and all tests without being a great side!! Yes I totally agree. You have to be an all round team to be successful. Of the 3 successful touring and series winning teams to NZ, I would rate the '37 team as the best (The '71 Lions 2nd & '86 Wallabies 3rd). They built up the team winning confidence as they went along and had match winners in key positions. '71 Lions very similar and amazing players who went on to feature in '74. The AB's in '71 weren't overawed by them; they were outsmarted by them (Especially Edwards/John combination and the resurgent Welsh backline revival confidence). However the '37 side dominated by the 3rd test and no team would have beaten them. I remember Brabrow in the doco saying that they knew how to beat them and his brace showed the complete confidence they had. Boy Louw and a rampant pack; Craven and his tactical play: and Brand with everything he did. Stuff of legend!! I'll try and find the doco vid, interviews from these men makes a huge difference.

If you look at the last 4 matches the referee definitely helped the kiwis getting to the score and I don't care what who says. So many high tackles against the Springboks and it just gets brushed aside with a penalty. If I look at the 50/50 calls the referee definitely knew who he was going to be biased to. At 14:15 Josh Kronfeld should have left Henry Honibal for his No.8 and other forwards and stopped Pieter Rousouw. Instead he tried to get Honibal, who was clearly the distributor and therefore not a major threat while Rousouw chiming in from the short side and Joost Van Der Westhuizen (God bless his soul) angling across posed more of a threat. Credit to Kronfeld though he quickly shifted focus once he realised the primary target was Pieter but could only manage an ineffective lunge on the lanky winger in Rousouw. It's also that racist white fans and apartheid apologists never gives de Villiers any credit. The Boks are the most successful team against the AB´s if im correct.
@@THEMRblackboy7thst yes they are. However the Springboks refused to play against coloured players before the 80's so alot of their home games were played against weakened teams
yes i see, but i was referring post 94. @@Me-ex7qg
The thumbnail!! Why is Brian Habana an all Black 😭😭
Great video! The sad thing about Peter de Villiers' coaching tenure is not just that scandalous performance by Bryce Lawrence.
It's also that racist white fans and apartheid apologists never gives de Villiers any credit. They all criticize him for using Springbok players that were in the prime of their careers, saying he inherited a great team. The sad thing about that is that many Bok legends made their debuts under de Villiers. Heinrich Brussouw, Morne Steyn and Tendai Mtawarira to name a few
The ref in 2008 was blindly biased. Wow.
NZ and RSA (with AUS) beat each other so bad, it is the only way the Europeans have any chance when they come up against them. World Cup prizes shows this to be evident.
Nigel had a shocker in that first game.
27:23 anyone see the middle finger too... Hehe
12:26 back when naas didn't need to get dirty
Wow go springboks
Always 16 vs 15 at New Zealand , refs are always playing for them.
this is true
Magtige Bokke!

Some terrible ref decisions. Smit support Victor at the kick-off...get blown for being in front of the ball carrier.
This is a terrible vid!!. It should be called 10 knives to the Heart. Yours faithfully, Joe kiwi.
Some of the better knives at least. They are green. Love your lot. Says a lot about yourselves that we can count victories on 10 fingers in NZ.
Head high? Yellow😡
Only for Victor Matfield - not the All Black who did it in a position that cost us a sure try. All Blacks never get treated the same as other teams.
Colby better then Habanna
South Africa is the sleeping giant. If 40 million xhosa's and zulu's start playing the AB's are going to count one in 30 years they beat us at home. It all depends on politics and money.
At least SA could hypothetically dominate NZ. Pretty sure SA already has a far bigger player base and still gets pumped. bUt iF wE HaD 40 MiLiOn pPl pLayiNg RugBy We WoOUld Be UnsToPAbLE.
@@Me-ex7qg to be honest, our government is wayyy to f'd to ever get anything off the ground, so you guys are safe. We are just trying to get jobs and electricity here.
Funny how the referee's decisions in NZ are all home field, cheaters
You're inside a glass house throwing stones there sunshine. There has been some howlers against the ABs in the republic.
@@Me-ex7qg that's for sure.Funny how NZ have shot ahead of the saffas since the advent of neutral refs.Unless they are all in on the conspiracy to help NZ lol.
The SA refs back in the days were the worst and most bias refs in history so what are you on about?
The last one doesn't count because one of the boks were offside
Oh noooo! Can’t believe one of them were offside what a complete tragedy that definitely hasn’t happened hundreds of games before and that New Zealand have won with! Let us have the win mate
Away the Africans go

@@etiennenel4494 😠💩👊
Under the amateur code the boks were always ahead of the ABs.....the quota ststem destroyed the bok superiorty.
....an d Alistaire coetzee lived up to his pathetic reputation
Don't delude yourself,SA didn't allow coloured players back in the day because of apartheid so they never faced NZs top team so because of that SAs wins in SA will always be tarnished so no the reality is that SA didn't really dominate.
White people in both sides...so what!
no whites in ABs anymore
so NZ 32 vs 10 for SA in NZ ? And NZ 25-24 in SA with 2-1 NZ in neutral venues .You saffas are easily excited eh ?
Did we at any point say that we have a better record against NZ? You Kiwi's are easy to get arrogant eh?
Grow up.
Wardad an by the way you new Zealanders would not have that record if it wasn't for south African politics destroying our rugby team
So its now post rwc19. Guess what. The Boks won. You must feel like a right tit now, or as we say in Afrikaans: "Vat so jou ou poepol"
So celebrating beating the consistently best team in the world shouldn't be celebrated?
I just finished watching the game where nz won 57 nil watch it every day
